Chapter 17: 1 vs 10

Allen didn't expect that there would be a tiger cub in his random combat selection.

After all, monsters like tigers, lions, bears, elephants and man others are considers hegemons among monsters and will surpass Level 1 even before growing into adults.

Their real cultivation only starts after becoming adults and they normally won't appear in the periphery of the wilderness where the concentration of spirit energy is very low.

They normally occupy regions with high spirit energy deep within the wilderness. So, normally low level hunters won't have much contact with them and if they really come into contact with them, they can only become for the monsters.

This also made Allen neglect these apex monsters while honing his combat and never really played against them.

Taking a deep breath, Allen slowly entered into a state of deep concentration to face this obstacle.

The first to move were the 2 cobras. They suddenly sprang up their heads from the ground and started firing venom bullets at Allen.

Even though the amount of venom in each bullet is not high, they are densely packed and are moving at high speed.

Allen stomped his feet on the ground and jumped backward while avoiding the venom bullets. He hugged both his knees with his hands and curled into a ball so to reduce surface area of his body in midair.

In midair, He suddenly threw his head backward to avoid the flash sparrow that had been aiming at his head.

Though he avoided most of the attack, in the end one of his eyelids had been grazed by its sharp wings due to the sharp reaction from the flash sparrow at the last moment.

By the time he landed, there was a white ape waiting for him and the two vines from the green ape are like two whips trying to coil around his ankles to stop his movement.

Allen knew that he had to escape from the encirclement and cannot delay his time entangling with these apes.

So, he decided to trade injury for injury with the white ape so as to finish the fight quickly. He used the white ape as a cover from the green ape by placing it between the white ape between them.

He knew time was tight. So, he ignored the apes claws coming for his chest and hurriedly threw a rapid fist at the white ape's neck.

The fist flew out like a bullet and the only thing the ape could do was to slightly move its neck to the side but could not evade the fist completely.

On the other hand, the rapid fist disrupted the trajectory of the ape's claws from Allen's heart to his shoulder and Allen instantly used hardened his muscles there by using muscle coat.

In the end, Allen only had a slight injury while the ape was heavily injured. Allen wanted to finish the ape by delivering another fatal blow but he could already hear the cat's roar behind him.

He could only give up on the ape and evaded the vine whip by twisting his body to an unnatural position and stomped on the green ape who could only guard his face with his hand.

Using the hand as a foothold, Allen made another jump and successfully escaped the encirclement.

He then started running wildly in the forest using the rough terrain.

Among the 10 monsters chasing Allen, the 2 cobras quickly lost the target due to their slow speed and the injured apes were the next.

Allen thought that he could use similar tactics to reduce their numbers. But, no matter what he did, he couldn't lose the flash sparrow and the wolves led by the tiger cub.

After all, all of them are known for their swiftness. The monsters even attacked him from time to time leaving scratches all over his body. If not for his skillful use of muscle coat, he would have already been dismembered.

In the end, even the green ape caught up with the group due to his frequent skirmishes.

Allen understood that he no longer had a chance to turn the situation around. He already felt the pain in many parts of body and he could no longer dodge the attacks of monsters in a skillful manner. There are already increasing amount of attacks falling on him and even usage of muscle coat was being affected due to the injuries.

So, he gave up running and put all his strength into the rapid fist to make a final counter attack. As for his target, it was the tiger cub that didn't have a single scratch on its body till now.

But just when pulled his fist back and was in a position to use the rapid fist, he saw a yellow flash and then his head was almost separated from his body. There was look of shock in his eyes that looked at the eyes full of mockery.

At this moment, he saw the 4 feet of tiger cub bulging up and there was a golden light focused on its claws giving them a dignified look.

The atmosphere froze at this moment and the surroundings soon changes into his familiar white space.

Allen understood that he underestimated the cub of tiger by a long slide. Initially, as all of the opponents have the same physical fitness, Allen thought that even if he couldn't fight the monsters equally, he would be able to defend himself.

But, that single strike from the tiger tore through his body like tofu and it did it so effortlessly. Even the speed of this attack was beyond his imagination.

This also made him understand his own deficiency of the combat skills. The training these days in the virtual simulation chamber surely helped him overcome his fear of pain and death and also helped him improve his combat consciousness.

He had been feeling a little proud of his improvement but this fight just gave him a tight slap in the face.

Allen already knew where the problem was. Right now, even though his physique and strength are very high compared to a practitioner of the same realm, due to the restriction of the realm, the exercises he is practicing are of very low level.

Even if he practiced the low level exercises to the peak proficiency, they cannot be of much help as his strength increases.

Now that his realm had almost reached the bone refining realm, he could already practice mid-grade level 1 exercises.

After reaching the bone refining realm, even the school would provide free mid-grade exercises. But, most of them are of normal quality.

The best exercises are in the hands of the big organizations and they will not easily leak them. In a society based on martial arts, these exercises are the basic way through which the organizations exercise their power on normal people.

Right now, there are three ways in which he could obtain mid-level exercises. The first one is through the school but the exercises in there didn't arouse his enthusiasm by much.

The second way is through the Hunter's association. But, joining the hunter's organization, he cold always exchange things with other martial artists.

With enough hunter contribution points, he could even buy them directly from the hunter's association.

The third way is considerably the best way if he could really achieve it. That is through system. If he could gain enough Energy points, he could exchange anything with the system.

This made him anticipate his trip to the wilderness even more. Either for gaining Hunter's contribution points or to gain Energy points, Wilderness is the key.

After thinking about all these things, Allen once again focused on his previous fight and summarized about all of his actions again so that he could find areas where he could improve.

After the end of his summary, Allen once again set started the virtual fight.

But, this time he only chose 5 opponents randomly and also restricted the appearance of those hegemons.

He only wanted to gain combat experience but didn't want to experience helpless and miserable death again.

He would try fighting those hegemons after obtaining better exercises.

For the next 2 hours, Allen spent all his time fighting the monsters in the simulation space.

Sometimes he dies, sometimes he won.

Initially, amount of deaths and wins are balanced but with time, Allen became experienced at using the surrounding terrain and would always find ways to escape in case he was overwhelmed by the monsters.

This helped him understand the 'Balance foot' better and coupled with his flexible body, Allen started getting better at avoiding the attacks of the monsters.

He also attacked the monsters in some unexpected ways catching them off guard. He is more like a monkey dancing between the trees and less like a human.

By the end of 2 hours, Allen completely adapted to the situation of fighting with a group of monsters and even the cases he was getting injured are becoming less and less.

After the end of his 2 hour slot, Allen came back to house swiftly taking a land taxi and went back to his house.

Before sleeping, he sent a leave request to his class teacher Raman saying that he had something to do.

With endless anticipation for tomorrow, Allen slowly drifted into the dreamland.
