Chapter - 35

Earth's orbit

The Mechanicus Fleet and a reserve Imperial Fleet, composed of two Apocalypse-class battleships accompanied by various types of cruisers of various classes, were guarding the Earth from a distance ordered by their Empress, with them there was also the Bunker of the YoRHa forces. All of their attention was focused on the moon, the empress had ordered them to point their weapons at the natural satellite but not to engage combat unless attacked first.

They were confused a bit since they were not getting any type of signal...until their eyes settled on a small flying object directed towards the moon. It was a dragon ridden by a girl.

Both of them were emanating a lot of Honkai Energy and so the Imperial Forces immediately understood that those were the Second Herrscher along with its pet

"We must open fire on those enemies" The Master of the Fleet said pointing his fingers towards the moon which was the location were the Herrscher landed on

"The Empress' orders are clear, do not engage unless attacked" The Lord Commander replied before looking at the tech-priest that was on the deck with them "Contact the Empress and tell her that we have the Herrscher in firing range"

"There is a peak of Honkai Energy!" A communication sent by the Mechanicus Fleet said as the Second Herrscher appeared above the moon with five with 5 giant meteors floating around it

"THE EMPRESS AUTHORIZED THE ATTACK!" The tech-priest on the deck shouted

"ALL SHIPS OPEN FIRE!" The Lord Commander shouted to the top of his lungs as all the ships of the fleet fired a massive barrage of shots in the Herrscher direction.

The second Herrscher turned her gaze towards the incoming threat and raised a barrier made of Honkai Energy, when the shots impacted against it, they created massive explosions that could be seen from the planet surface. Unfortunately, the Herrscher still sent the meteors against her Earth aiming at Los Angeles, Rìo de Janeiro, Moscow, Tokyo and Singapore.

Moscow

Anastasia was standing in the middle of the Red Square staring at the sky while also hearing the warning communication coming from all radio channels. Her figure started glowing, slowly the general panic ceased and everyone fell silent

"hear my words" she said speaking to the minds of her followers "I will take care of the meteor here in Moscow, the battleships must turn the others into ashes, every weapon is allowed to achieve our goal" she declared before contacting Najenda "Is everything ready?"

"Yes, The EVA units are on standby in Tokyo" Najenda replied as Anastasia spotted with her eyes the incoming meteor.

All the civilians that were looking out of the window started panicking but Anastasia was not worried. She raised her clawed hand and the blink of an eye the meteor was stopped on its tracks. She slowly lowered her hand causing it the lower itself until it gently landed on the ground.

Anastasia looked behind her where her Legio Custodes were standing "We are going to the Babylon tower"

Rìo de Janeiro

The citizen of the Brasilian capital stared at the sky with fear in their eyes, the Imperial guardsmen were keeping them from going full panic something they have achieved with sheer numbers alone. They were all seeing the meteor slowly getting bigger and bigger as it entered the planet's atmosphere. Suddenly many of the ships that had occupied the sky above the city started aiming themselves towards the meteor while the rest of them placed themselves directly above all the evacuation zones.

The Meteor got bigger and bigger as the parents covered the eyes of their children while telling them that everything was going to be fine...then it happened.

All the spaceships opened fire against the impending doom, the sound wave of such mighty weapons boomed all across the hair, causing the very earth to shake and all the glass directly under them to shatter instantly when then followed was the appearance of a sudden blinding light and then an ear-shattering explosion.

The people were forced to cover their ears and close their eyes but when they opened them a rain of fire revealed itself to their vision but the giant meteor was destroyed but its debris were now falling towards the ground.

Many buildings were hit and destroyed but the people were protected by the giant bodies of the ships hovering above them, and the few that managed to slip past them were stopped by armored female figures which seemed to have stopped the debris in mid-air.

Whispers among the people begun as they observed the armored figures before someone shouted the name of the legend of South America

"It's the Big Sister!" a man shouted causing all the people to look around before finally seeing her.

She was towering above everyone, she was wearing some sort of diving suit, her helmet was spheric and had two portholes which were glowing green. At her side, there were several other male-looking armored figures armed with giant drills and several other types of weaponry.

The woman brought her hands on her helmet and removed it revealing her long brown hair and blue eyes "My name is Elenor Lamb, Primarch of the Delta Legion, I was tasked by the Empress of the Imperium to protect all you. The people you see around you, may have scared you but both of them and me are here for protecting all of you by the Honkai! And it seems that we have arrived just in time" she proclaimed.

Tokyo

The three giants were standing inside the Kokyo Gaien National Garden, the EVA units deployed by NERV under the order of the Imperium.

"This wait is killing and my body is so sore" Asuka Soryu Langley, pilot of the red EVA unit 02, said as she stretched out her arms inside her entry plug

"It is to be expected, many years have passed since the last time we moved our bodies" Rei Ayanami, pilot of the blue EVA unit 00, replied emotionless

Shinji Ikari, Pilot of the purple EVA unit 01, was silent. The boy hadn't spoken a word since he got inside the EVA unit.

"Oi! Stupid! Are you even alive in there?" Asuka shouted across the radio channel.

"Why...why are we here?" the boy muttered "We...already failed haven't we? We wouldn't be here if we didn't...the Honkai already defeated us...what can we do against it? We have no right to be here..."

"Shinji..." Misato muttered via radio from NERV HQ.

She wanted to say something but Shinji was speaking the truth, Nerv has been defeated by the Honkai before and now it's just a shadow of the past...all the attempts and plans both from the former commander of NERV and SEELE failed and those who survived were forced into hiding. Misato herself had a feeling of dread inside her heart whenever she thought of facing the Honkai again.

"Hear my words" Najenda said as she looked at the video feed of the three EVAs "It's true, you've failed before, you became the laughing stock of the Honkai God but...you're here, you're standing in front of its cruel eyes once again and you're not alone, the will of the people you lost, their dreams, hopes, regrets, anger and hatred rest on your shoulders...but that weight is not only yours to carry because we're here, we stand with you and if it comes to it we'll die standing and we'll smile just to mock that cruel God that had decided that we should perish"

The pilot of Unit 01 looked into the eyes of the woman who just spoke to him but he didn't see any sign of fear, she had a smirk on her face. He then noticed that the Imperial Army, even though it should be gone from the area was standing still next to the feet of the EVAs fearless.

"As long as you stand with us you'll never stand alone" Najenda added as her grin got bigger

"Meteor incoming, 20 seconds before impact" Ritsuko said as she looked at the prevision of the MAGI system

"All you, if you feel shame for your defeat, if you feel anger and hatred towards the Honkai God, if you feel sad for those people who have lost their lives because of it, put those emotions in your actions and let everyone know that you'll not bow to no God anymore! That you will not hide anymore!" Najenda shouted

Shinji tightened the grip of the controls of the EVA unit, he wanted to look away, he wanted to be somewhere else but at the same time, he felt a burning sensation coming from his heart, his chest and breathing was heavy, he was sweating bullets"

"10 seconds before impact" Ritsuka communicated

Asuka stared at the meteor, her usual annoyed expression was now one of deep disgust and anger, a growl escaped her lips "Damn you..." she muttered

Misato looked at the synchronization levels and widened her eyes when she saw that all of the three pilots' rates were quickly increasing even Rei's

"5...4...3...2...1..."

"SCREAM YOUR FEELINGS TO THAT CRUEL GOD THAT ONLY SEES YOU AS LAUGHING STOCK!" Najenda shouted

"AT FIELD FULL SPREAD!" All of the three pilots shouted at the top of their lungs as the Meteor hit the AT field generated by the EVA units.

The impact caused shockwaves the be sent in all direction, and even though they were distant, the soldiers in the Baneblades and Fellblades had to brace themselves.

"They got it!" Misato said with a determined expression

"It will take a while to stop its momentum" Ritsuko remarked before a notification appeared on her screen "The AT field is giving out!"

"WHAT?! WHY!?" Misato asked "It's just a big rock!"

"Threw from an Herrscher with its powers" Ritsuko replied "the Honkai energy is eroding the AT field"

"They will make it" Najenda said with extreme calm

"DAMN YOU DAMN YOU DAMN YOU! I WILL NOT LOSE THIS TIME! I WILL NOT BE DEFEATED AGAIN!" Asuka growled as she pushed the commands of her unit with all the strength of her body

"I can't do it" Shinji muttered before his eyes spotted the Baneblades and Fellblades staying still just out of the AT field range, the boy quickly changed the radio channel to general one "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! GO AWAY!"

"If we have to die, we die standing" someone replied as the turrets of the mighty tanks shook as if they were shaking their heads "We'll die side by side brother!"

The young pilot was shocked by that reply and he slowly looked around himself, he saw Asuka and Rei trying their best to stop the meteor and again saw Najenda, still smirking as if she had no doubt that they will win. He gritted his teeth and with a warcry, he pushed the commands of the EVA as far he could.

Unit 01 opened its mouth and let out a roar as the combined AT fields started stopping the falling meteorite until all of its motion was gone. When that happened the three EVA units dissipated the AT fields and caught the meteor before it could fall to the ground and carefully placed it down.

Shinji couldn't believe his eyes, they had made it, they had saved the city from the Honkai...he snapped back to reality when the sound of clapping reached his ears. He looked at the image of Najenda, she was clapping her hands, her smirk was replaced with a gentle one.

"Good job brother" the guardsman inside the tanks said through the radio while clapping before they returned to their normal operations since the emergency was over.

"You've done great" The Primarch said with a nod "Return to the base"
