The ride back to our house was completely silent, which was kind of unexpected since I expected Ren and Mai to scream at me, blame me, or at least complain. They didn't even glare at me… They simply gave me weird looks from time to time during the ride. Their reluctance to tear into me might have something to do with my new form.
Since I ripped through my clothes during the transformation, I would be completely nude if I returned to my human form and I didn't want to walk around while dangling my manly bits out in the open, so I was still in my transformation even though in a much smaller form.
This was what led me to realize that staying in my transformation outside a conflict or a fight could be really mentally exhausting… I didn't feel like this when I was in the testing facility, but at that time, I wasn't in my transformation for that long, nor was I focusing all of my power into a smaller body.
Focusing all of my power into a smaller body was also physically tiring…
As soon as we reached home, I decided to head straight to my room. Ren and Mai simply gave me weird looks, but I decided to pay them no mind for the time being. I had other important things to worry about… Even though I was both mentally and physically exhausted, I didn't dare to fall asleep.
I was right in the middle of enemy territory and Rikiya might have let us go to maintain his image, I wasn't foolish enough to blindly trust him… It was already clear that he couldn't control his underlings, so there was a good chance that his underlings might go out on their own and try something.
They could try using Ren and Mai again, or they might try something to kidnap me…
I might have overestimated my power previously for the right reasons, but I have realized that Quirks could be very versatile. They might have someone like that homeroom teacher of Class 1-A, who could suppress someone's Quirk, or they might have someone like that pervert, who could release a miasma from their body to make someone fall asleep.
Fuck!! I screamed inside my mind… They might even have someone like that boy who could force people to do stuff… I wasn't sure if his powers would work on me or not, but they might have someone stronger than the boy in their ranks…
There was no way I was letting my guard down. However, I knew that I needed to drop my transformation. I was dead tired and I might fall asleep if I tried to keep up my transformation… I entered the bathroom after grabbing a pair of clothes and dropped the transformation. I stared at myself in the mirror only to realize that I didn't have a single scratch on my body.
I rubbed my neck feeling slightly nervous… I was certain that Rikiya had snapped my neck during my fight, but here I was, looking completely fine. I should have been dead, but I was alive and kicking… I had no plans to take a shower, but with how dirty I felt, I realized that a shower might be necessary. I turned on the tap before standing under the shower head and started to think about the incident tonight…
I had Rikiya in my hands and for a moment I wanted to kill him… It would have been so easy. Just a bit more force and I would have snapped his neck. As a human, I should have felt sick at the thought of killing someone, but I felt nothing…
And what were those dreams? They felt so real… No, they were no dreams. They were way too realistic to be dreams, but why was I inside that other being? I could feel everything he did. I could feel exactly what he was feeling when he was growing bigger and it was the same when he was becoming smaller… That was how I managed to learn how to control the size of my form.
Instead of dreams, they felt more like memories, but whose memories?
I had so many questions going around inside my head, but I had no answers… I released a deep sigh and simply decided to enjoy the shower as it was going to be a long night. Maybe, I could do some research in the meantime since I was planning to stay up anyway… Maybe, go through some forums along with that…
~~Two Days Later~~
I was mentally exhausted, even though physically I was at the top of my game… I hadn't slept for two days, but nobody could tell that since I looked completely fine. For the last two days, I only left my room for meals and even though I came across Ren and Mai quite a few times in the past two days, none of us talked.
The situation between the three of us was kind of awkward and I didn't blame them… From what I have learned, they were having no problems at their work and apparently, Rikiya was keeping his promise at least for the time being…
Rikiya had even gifted us the Rolls Royce which took us to the party as an apology after he learned that we liked the car. I did not know what he was planning, but if he thought he could buy my allegiance with an expensive car, then he was absolutely right, but I still wasn't sure if I believed them. Most of the time, organizations like MLA spewed out nice things, but in the end, all of them turned out to be the same generic evil organizations.
I agreed with their ideals to some extent… It would have been great if we could use our Quirks out in the open as long as we weren't using them to hurt anyone, but I still believed that the MLA was simply using that as an excuse. However, there was no way I was going to work for someone. That was one of the reasons why I wanted to become a Hero in the first place.
In this world, being a Hero was just a job… Yes, I know that I wouldn't be free, at least not completely since I would be under the supervision of the Hero Public Safety Commission, but only being a Hero I can be free as much as a person can in this world. As an orphan, if you wanted to hit it big, then your only option was to become a Hero. If you manage to get into the top 50 rankings then you are going to live quite a luxurious life.
"What is this?" I asked unhappily as I stared at the package. The man simply smiled and shoved the package toward me. "If that is a bomb, it is not going to work" I pointed out drily.
"Do not worry, it is not a bomb. Yotsubashi-sama simply wanted to gift you something" The man explained at my accusation.
"Didn't he gift me the Rolls Royce as an apology?" I asked with a frown on my face.
"Yes, but it was a gift for the whole Adachi family. This is something Yotsubashi-sama thought you would like. If you want to know how MLA came to be then please take this" The man explained. What kind of game are they playing now, I wondered, and even though I was curious to know, I didn't accept the gift.
"What's in it? If you don't answer me, I am going to break your legs and shove them where the sun doesn't shine" I threatened and the man paled as the slimy smile on his face disappeared. I hated that smile… It reminded me so much of snakes hiding in the skin of humans.
"It is a book" The man answered.
"Open it" I ordered and the man started to rip the wrapping with a sour look on his face. I was sure that I wasn't making any friends, but I wasn't planning to make friends, so it was alright. When he was done and I was sure that it was just a book, I finally accepted him before asking the man to leave, politely. I read the title of the book and realized that it was an autobiography of a person named Destro.
I loved books and I was curious so I decided to give it a try…
