Viviana clutched Leander's shirt as tightly as she could. She didn't want to let go of his warmth. Leander carried her to bed.
"Do you want medication?" he asked.
She was sobbing and he knew she was hurting. If it was her abdomen that was hurting, he can give her medications. But if it is her heart…
"It's okay, Lemon…" he rocked her. "It's okay. I'm here…"
He hugged her. It broke his heart to see her cry. He never liked her tears. And now…
He looked at the door sensing a disturbance. There was a shadow he could see under the door. He clenched his jaws. He hated doing this.
He placed her down on the bed and pried her hands off him. She looked at him. Even in that dim light, he could discern the tears in her eyes. He wiped her face.
Hardening his tone, he said, "There is one reason why I turn my back on you," he said.
