I'd Like to go With You Anywhere

It was almost three o'clock in the afternoon and all Nkechi and Aisha did were sit down and see movies. It was indeed a day to rest, but a part of her was expecting Efe to come around since he said he'd like to take her out on a date and she had not given an answer to him. She thought about calling him to give him an answer over the phone because if she doesn't, he'd come and she did not want to keep acting weird around him.

Things wouldn't have turned out that way if she hadn't met the other guy she would have given Efe a chance, but it wasn't going to be, seeing that her heart is somewhere else.

There was a gentle knock on the door and Nkechi's heart skipped a beat. She was so sure it was Efe, she never expected he'd be that early. She was reluctant to go check who was knocking and she turned to Aisha and they locked eyes. None of them was willing to stand up and check who was knocking.

Unlike Nkechi that didn't want to go check who was knocking because she was thinking it'd be Efe, Aisha didn't want to stand up because the movie they were both seeing was interesting and she did not want to miss out on any part.

There was another knock again on the door and none of them even moved.

About two minutes later, Aisha stood up and walked to the door to check who was knocking but she saw no one. She walked outside a bit and saw someone walking out of the gate and she followed after the person.

"Excuse me. Good afternoon. Were you the one knocking?" asked Aisha.

"Good afternoon. Yes, I was."

"Okay. Do you want to see anyone?" Aisha asked.

"I came to see Nkechi. Does she live here?"

"Yes, she does. You can come in," said Aisha, leading the way.

"Baby girl, you have a visitor."

"Did you tell him I was in?" asked Nkechi.

"If you are busy, I could leave."

The voice sounded nothing like Efe's, she was still seeing the movie when she said that, not knowing Aisha had let the person in.

"No, no, no, I am not busy. Please don't leave," said Nkechi, when she turned around and saw who it was.

There was a burst of brightness on her face when she turned and Aisha smiled. It all made sense why she looked joyful.

"Are you him? Are you our love?" asked Aisha.

"Aisha, stop that. He's my love, not our love," said Nkechi, blushing.

"Yeah, right. Your love and you can't offer him a seat," said Aisha.

"Sorry, baby. Come, have a seat," Aisha continued.

"Thank you."

Aisha showed him where to seat and he sat down. Nkechi stood looking at them, she folded her arms and tried to act vexed.

"Should I offer him something, or you'd like to do that one?" asked Aisha, trying to tease her.

Nkechi hurried to the kitchen and came back with a bottle of soft drink and placed it before him.

"Thank you," he said.

"So, lover boy. Tell us about you," said Aisha.

"Thank you for bringing that up. You said you'd tell me your name the next time we see," said Nkechi.

"And how did you get to know where I stay exactly?" she asked.

"About that, I was around the neighbourhood hoping to see you but after about thirty minutes, I decided to ask people who lived in the neighbourhood and they showed me the house."

"You love my friend, don't you?" asked Aisha.

"Sure, he does. Otherwise, he won't be here," said Nkechi.

"I see. If we're putting it that way, then you should consider the other," said Aisha.

"Which other?" he asked.

"Don't pay her any attention," replied Nkechi.

He told them about his name and many other things about himself. Nkechi loved everything about his life, stories about him, practically everything.

It felt like she had been with him all her life, she felt a very strong connection between them and she knew she won't try anything to ruin what she was feeling.

"Efe is nice too and lovable but unfortunately for him, someone has stolen my love and affection already," Nkechi thought to herself.

Aisha heard her phone and she went to answer the call, it was Efe who called.

"Hey, are you guys at home?" asked Efe.

"Yes, we are."

"How are you today?" asked Aisha.

"I am fine. I am home alone," said Efe.

"I asked Nkechi for a date and she hasn't responded yet. I'll be coming by to take her out, I will leave the house in ten minutes."

"I don't want her to know I am coming yet."

"Too late about that, she already knows you'll be coming today," Aisha thought to herself.

"Yeah, sure. That'd be nice," said Aisha.

"So, I called to ask about the kind of places she likes, so I can take her there," said Efe.

"Uhm, she likes open places, like a park," said Aisha.

"Okay, that'd be great. Thanks a lot. You can join us if you want so you don't stay home alone," said Efe.

"If you want me to, I will."

"Bye for now. In the next ten minutes, I should be dressed and out of the house," concluded Efe.

The call ended and she went back to meet Nkechi and her man. Aisha didn't tell Nkechi about the call, she didn't want to distract her from having a good time.

"Food is ready," said Aisha, dropping plates of food on the table.

"I'm the decent cook around here. Taste my food and I bet you'd forget Nkechi just like that," Aisha continued to tease Nkechi, making all of them laugh.

"That's not fair. I can cook too," said Nkechi.

"I am sure you can, dear," he said.

"Baby girl, I hope you remember tomorrow is the first round of the competition?."

"Yes, I remember," Nkechi replied.

"About the cycling competition, I forgot to tell you. I am part of it too," he said.

"CEO of the Bicycle Palace, in a cycling competition. Things we don't get to see every day," said Aisha.

"May the better cycler win," said Nkechi, stretching her hand toward him for a handshake.

"I was the winner of the previous competition," he said.

"Okay? We already know who the winner is," said Aisha raising one hand in the air, as if holding a wine glass.

And they laughed.

"Nkechi, would you be free to go out with me to anywhere nice, maybe when we're done eating?" he asked.

"Yes Brume, I'd like to go with you anywhere," replied Nkechi.
