Chapter 8

"Hmm?" Wen slowly opened his eyes in confusion.

His eyes then widened when he realised that he isn't in his apartment room and seems to be on a cloud.

"What am I?" Wen said as he looked around confused.

Then his eyes widened when he remembered his last moments before his death. He held his head when he remembered it as he has a look of disbelief.

"I died? So, where is this?" Wen said as he looked around as he stood on the cloud.

"Welcome Chen Wen." A man's voice said as he looked around.

"Where are you?" Wen asked as he looked around frantically.

"Behind you." The voice said as he turned around.

"Whoa!" Wen jumped back in surprise when he saw the man.

The man is dressed in simple travelling clothes and has a prayer staff. He has short black hair, light brown skin, blue eyes and a handsome face. He has a smile on his face as he appears in front of Wen.

"How did you?" Wen asked bewildered.

"How do you think I would have been able to do that?" The man asked him in return.

Wen was a bit surprised at the question but thought about it for a few seconds before he came to a conclusion.

"Are you an immortal cultivator?" Wen asked him.

"Yes, you could say that." The man said with a smile.

"But, I'm dead right so why am I here?" Wen asked him.

'I would really like it if I can go through this reincarnation quickly and forget my life.' Wen thought to himself a bit depressed.

"Because I believe that what had happened to you in the world is quite unfair and I want to help you get a better life." The man said to him with a smile.

"But, what would the point be? No one actually cares about what I say or think? It's better if I just leave the world. Not like anyone is going to miss me." Wen said depressed as he sat on the cloud.

"You're not going to try seeing things in a positive light?" The man asked him as he looked at him.

"Why should I? Nothing positive had happened to me. I helped people and always treated others with kindness and respect. But the only thing I got was disrespect from others and I was made fun off. Worst of all, even my own family thinks that I'm at fault." Wen said in a depressed tone.

"I guess you had to have reached your limit. There is so much that you can endure before you can't anymore. Your personality that you created can only shoulder so much." The man said causing him to look at him.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Wen asked him at his words.

"Ever since you were a child, you were average. You weren't exceptional in sports, nor were you exceptional in studies. You were just an average kid and that was also your problem as well. Your parents would always compare you to other children who got more marks and were never satisfied with the marks that you got." The man said shocking Wen.

'He knows that much about me.' Wen thought to himself a bit shocked.

"And of course, the comparison increased when your sister started to show more intelligence than you and gained higher ranks in studies than you did as they started to compliment her more as well. So in response to all of that, you created an indifferent persona to help deal with the comparison. So that you won't care about the opinions of others, as a defence mechanism." The man said to him.

Wen just stayed silent as what the man said up until now has been true.

"When you went to highschool and college you didn't get much recognition due to your grades and you didn't have much communication skills due to always trying to study harder to please your parents and get closer to your sister's rank. Then when Xiao Lin decided to stand up for you you gained a crush on her. When she asked you to marry her you were very happy, but you were saddened when you realised that she just didn't want to get married for convenience. Your in-laws weren't happy about it as they didn't see you as worthy of her and often insulted you and soon even Lin didn't give you much notice. And I don't have to say anything about what happened in the last three months." The man said to him as Wen listened to him.

"Yeah. All my life I've been trying to become a good son for my parents and a good and talented person for others. But no matter how much I try, I could never get close to my sister who is very talented or others. My parents always wanted me to come first, and always compared me to my classmates or friends who were better than me. When I married Xiao Lin, I tried my best to be a good husband despite knowing why she married me. I just didn't expect that it wasn't enough for her." Wen said as he sighed in a depressed tone.

"And that is why I have come to help you." The man said causing the depressed man to look at him.

"How?" Wen asked him.

"To help you become stronger. I'll make you an immortal, the same thing that the cultivators on Earth are trying to do." The man said to him causing Wen's eyes to widen.

"Y-You will do that? Why?" Wen asked shocked.

"Because you are someone who has tried your whole life to live for others and please them. And who has led a life of hardship and hardwork and continued to do so until you couldn't. I want to help you get a chance to live your life again, but the second time so that you can live for yourself." The man said to him with a smile.

Wen was beyond shocked when he heard that as he looked at the man.

"I-I, I'm, I don't know what to say, but, thank you. But what is your name? I didn't ask." Wen said to the man.

"My name is Shaka. I look forward to our time together." The man named Shaka said to him with a smile.
