Pieces fall into place

Billie walked out of the forest bewildered by the encounter of Selena. 'What am I supposed to do now?' she thought to herself. She searched her pockets for her phone only to find it missing as she was in such a hurry to leave her house like that.

"Darn it, guess I will go to Miron's"

She took her bike and pedaled it towards Miron's place, she wasn't over the exhaustion and all that energy spent on knocking and kicking at Selena's hut made her more tired and all she wanted was to drop in her comfy bed. But then again, she wouldn't be able to rest because her mind is been going crazy for the past hours.

She slowly rode towards her best friend's place, pausing every now and then as the exhaustion hit her but not willing to give up she continued to ride along.

Finally, she reached Miron's place and walked on the pavement, and rang the bell.

No one answered, and Billie did what she usually does. She rang the bell continuously for a long minute until she heard someone coming to the door.

"What the f* do you think you're doing, ringing the f** bell like that, you a**hole?" it was Miron's father who sprang the door open much to Billie's disappointment.

"Well, Miron" Billie tried to get the point across with minimal words as she was too tired to hold up a conversation.

"HE'S GONE! THAT UNGRATEFUL BRAT!" Miron's father shouted at the top of his lungs with bloodshot eyes.

Billie squinted her nose as he was reeking of alcohol.

"Gone? where?" Billie could've had a shouting contest with him but lucky for him she wasn't in the mood for that.

"To that bitch's place! Why do I care?!!" Miron's father rambled and started sobbing.

Billie was taken aback by this grown man's ugly crying but she didn't feel empathy toward him.

"Cool, where is that bitch's place?" she questioned him looking dead in the eyes.

"She's loaded, probably living in the west side," he said wiping his tears not being aware that he is giving out information.

"Really? Can you take me there Mr. Golubev?" Billie sneakily added a favor as she can take a break from pedaling and the west side was far from here.

"Huh? Get lost", He told Billie as she once again got the door shut in her face.

'Jeez, knew it wouldn't work out but still had to try '

Billie knew that bitch must be Miron's mother and that her residing on the west side only confirmed it as they had heard Miron's mother moved there after she divorced her husband.

Billie sighed in exhaustion.

"Maybe I will just go Ivan's" Billie wondered as there was no way she can reach the west side without dropping dead on the way.

She was riding towards Ivan's close to the town's square. She rode passed the town square and took a left turn into Ivan's neighborhood using her remaining energy to the fullest as she didn't want to get noticed by her parents or anyone.

Ivan's place was always quiet as it was living up to its name 'peace neighborhood' and the few families that resided were all single parents and their kids.

she walked down the street parking her bike in the common area. She reached Ivan's house at the end of the street, it has been a while since she had come to his place. Feeling nostalgic about her childhood memories with Ivan, she rang the bell.

"Oh my, Billie Pie!" Ivan's mother exclaimed seeing Billie on the doorstep.

"Hello, Ms.Alina! It's been a while!", Billie smiled as she raised her arms for a hug.

"Dear! I'm very happy to see you! Look how beautiful you've grown up!" Ivan's mother said as she bear hugged her.

Billie awkwardly pulled herself as Ivan's mother seems to be hugging forever.

"Umm, how are you?" she asked as looked at his mother's beautiful face-- where he got his alluring charm from.

"You look like you could do with a drink," Ivan's mother said frowning at Billie's exhausted dead face.

"God, yes absolutely!" Billie shamelessly admitted.

They both entered the house and Billie sat down on one of the chairs in the dining room while Ivan's mother rummaged through her pantry.

Billie felt a bit alive as she entered the warm house. Ivan's mother handed her hot cocoa after a while.

She felt her entire body getting warmed up as she took a sip, she let out a deep sigh of relief as Ivan's mother watched her drink.

When she was done with it, Billie spoke.

"Ms.Alina, don't you have work today?"

"Not today honey, it's off for almost every other profession except for the one that's involved in the community event", Ivan's mother answered.

"Well, I thought since your job involves money transactions and stuff, you'll be busy", Billie tried to stay calm and hold up a conversation even though her mind was wandering with other thoughts.

"Well, then you're wrong about it pie, No transactions can be made through as of today and it applies to all the other information processing in our town", Ivan's mother poured up with words as Billie sat there completely clueless.

"Hmm, Is Ivan home now?" Billie asked finally, the question she wanted to ask the second his mother opened the door but was afraid she might take her for a crazy brat.

"Why of course he is, he is always shut in his room without using any opportunity to get along with people" his mother sighed as she directed Billie upstairs.

As Billie walked upstairs, she carefully tried to tailor her thoughts. 'What should I ask Ivan?' 'Will he be weirded out If I tell him that I saw my brother die but he was, in fact, alive?' she wondered with each step.

She knocked on Ivan's room but there was no answer but when she held the doorknob she found out that it wasn't locked. She hesitated for a moment.

"Ivan?" she called out and there was no response. 'Maybe he is sleeping?'

She slowly opened the door and entered his room.

She was shocked to see him in his bed and his eyes rolled up, struggling to breathe.

Billie was lost for words and her hands trembling with fear at the sight of her best friend.

'Am I dreaming again?' 'Is he dying?' 'Is this real?' her mind filled with numerous questions. She was finally able to move her limbs to action coming to the conclusion that whether or not it was real, she didn't want to gamble.

She grabbed Ivan by his collar as his head swung like he was passed out but he was muttering something she couldn't quite get a grasp of.

"Ivan!" she shouted at him, the only action she was good at.

"IVAN!" she tried again, and this time he was wrinkling his brows meaning he could hear her.

"IVAN, YOU ASSHOLE!!", Billie felt her vision getting blurred with tears as she was hating herself for not knowing if this is real or not.

Ivan snapped back to his senses and was breathing heavily as he looked around his room in horror.

"Billie!" he exclaimed as he noticed her standing in front of him, both on the verge of tears.
