Chapter 5

Anastasia looked down the window to see how tall the tower was. She let out a tired sigh. She knew Cassius would be here soon and she doesn't want him to draw her blood. Turning around, an idea struck her mind and she quickly hurried to the bed.

She grabbed the bedsheets before walking back to the window and she tied the end of the bedsheets against the bed frame. Throwing the other end down the window, Anastasia closed her eyes before jumping down. She wanted to scream out of fear but she was afraid that the guards would hear her and they would capture her. When Anastasia reached down, she breathed in relief.

As she turned around, her body shook with fear when she saw Cassius standing behind her with a smirk.

"AHH!" She screamed.

Cassius grabbed her wrist and he pulled her back to the tower, the both of them walking upstairs to the room. When they reached the top of the tower, Cassius pushed the door open and he dragged her inside.

"How foolish of you to think you can escape from me," he said, a small frown appearing on his face.

"I should punish you for jumping down the window and attempting to escape," he said.

"I was only fighting for my freedom," she defended herself. If only she knew, she would have done it earlier.

"You owe me your life, Ana," he said. "You would have been dead by now if I hadn't come to rescue you."

"Rescue me?" She scoffed. "By bringing far worse punishment on me? It's like jumping from frying pan to fire." she said.

"You must know by now that I am not the man to show mercy," he uttered.

She was doomed. It was either being executed or tortured by this demonic Vampire Prince. What if she tried to kill him and escape from here?

Anastasia bit her lip for having such dumb thought cross her mind. Who would have the audacity to try to kill the Prince? No one is able to kill the vampire Prince as he's from the second generation of Vampire thus he's very strong.

She soon realised that she was trapped in his dark web. Was this how her life would end? Maybe she should start accepting that she would die soon in the hands of this cruel Prince.

But Anastasia was desperate in escaping this Kingdom and start life again. Maybe someday before she dies she would get her revenge on him.

"I won't try to escape again," she said hoping he would let her go this night. But would he really let her go when she was his daily food?

She swallowed hard, taking a step backward when she saw his eyes black out.

"Cassius," she gulped.

"What?" He tilted his head.

She felt her cheek heat up when he reached out to grab her neck lightly. Her heart began to pound fast against her chest as she felt his cold breath falling on her skin.

His muscular scent drifted into her nostrils and she could feel her knees going weak. He raised his hand and brushed her hair from her neck. He leaned closer, sniffing her scent into his nose.

When he ran his tongue across her bare skin, Anastasia couldn't explain how she felt. It felt as if she was hypnotized and she couldn't move from where she was standing.

She didn't understand why she was feeling excited from his touch. She was supposed to be boiling with hot rage and push him away but it seems his touch was driving her crazy.

"Why are you doing this?" She mumbled, her eyes half closed.

"Doing what?" He asked.

"I can barely think straight…." She trailed on.

When he sank his fangs into her skin, Anastasia felt a mixture of pain and pleasure. For some odd reasons, she enjoyed his hands on her skin but with him drawing blood every second, she felt dizzy.

When he had enough of her blood, he pulled back to see her body trembling. Her blood tasted so sweet that he didn't know when he consumed too much.

As he released her, Anastasia staggered backward, nearly falling to the ground but he caught her in his arms and he carried her to the bed. Tucking her under the blanket, he watched as she closed her eyes to sleep.

Cassius stared at her for some time. She looked very innocent, total stranger of the woman the people had described her to be. He wondered how she was able to kill his father. The Vampire King who was very powerful and had conquered different wars and claim Kingdoms.

When he first heard from the guards that a young woman had killed his father he was furious. He thought it was one of those courtesan his father brings to the Palace that killed him. Upon seeing the young girl who was about to be killed, he felt his soul left his body.

He knew that taking her to the castle would make people more furious. They wanted her dead. There have been protests among the people demanding to kill the traitor.

But Cassius wanted to punish her himself. A slow painful death. He was known amongst different Kingdom to be that cold ruthless Prince.

Seeing her breath calmly, he walked towards the cupboard and fetched the liquor bottle. Walking back to the window, he gulped it down. Slowly and slowly, Cassius found himself intoxicated by the drink. He felt tired and exhausted and all he wanted was to rest. His eyes moved back to Anastasia and he didn't know when he laid down next to her and he soon slept off.

That night, Cassius slept very well without having any nightmares as usual. It was the first time after many years that he slept comfortable. He didn't know if it was because he was laying next to Anastasia. Whatever, he was happy that none of his nightmares haunted him tonight.
