--- Chapter 206 ---
Hun Realm, Evil Spirit Realm.
Within the underground cave, ten pillars stood firmly. They surrounded a still, red-colored pond that glimmered with stomach-churning Blood Qi.
Amidst the silence, a red droplet formed and fell into the pond. It created a strong ripple that awakened the ten pillars' spirits.
Ten silhouettes appeared and sat on top of the pillars, each releasing the presence of Dou Saints.
"Protectors, I have bad news for all of you..." A voice accompanied with uneasiness echoed in the cave. It's coming from a messenger who used secret techniques to communicate with Hall of Souls' Protectors.
A full minute later.
Even though the voice couldn't see the Protectors' faces, the dead silence was a giveaway to him. They are frowning at his words.
"Continue..." An eerie feminine voice reverberated in the darkness.
The messenger sighed inside and confessed, "The mission to retrieve the Bodhisattva Heart has failed. The group and Elder Hun Lie Shan himself were executed on the spot, leaving not even a shred of their souls to recover."
The underground cave trembled violently as the ten silhouettes released an intense cold aura. Even though the messenger was thousands of miles away, he couldn't help but shiver upon sensing something wrong from the other side.
"How did Hun Lie Shan die?" Another silhouette uttered.
The messenger breathed in, "It was instantaneous. There is a Soul Recording left behind from the intense fight, but all we can hear is the sound of thunderclaps."
"And a threat from the perpetrator."
"A threat?" The ten silhouettes were baffled.
"What kind of brave fool dared to threaten our Hall of Souls?!" One silhouette in anger and disbelief.
"He threatened to visit our branch and wipe us from existence within a few days." The messenger lowered his voice and answered, "We have done a deep investigation. At the time, besides Lei Clan's Members. We also discovered one person with overwhelming power over Lightning Elements."
"Before attacking our Hall of Souls group, this person also had a small conflict with the Demonic Faction: Heavenly Feather Sect and slayed the Southern Dragon King. People called him the Dragon Slayer and Spear Monarch shortly after."
"The truth is he's a Wandering Alchemist of unknown origin with the surname of Lin and given name Feng. His first appearance was in Yao Realm, and further than that is all gray."
"He's famous within the circle of Four Ancient Clans, Yao, Yan, Gu, and Lei Clans. Our spies within those Ancient Clans noted he was well-accepted among the people."
"One more interesting notion about this person is that the Three Ancient Clans' Heiresses are his disciples. It seems he just took them under his tutelage recently."
After hearing the report from the messenger, the silhouettes couldn't help but frown. Their silence is like a ticking bomb, brewing with confusion and wonder.
"Lin Feng. Such a common name..." The eerie feminine voice commented.
"I've never heard of the Lin Clan or Family before. Even if it's a small clan created by such an expert, the probability is just too small."
"I'm more convinced that this person possesses Dou Di's Bloodline. After all, there are countless Ancient Clans in the Ancient Era, and the Eight Ancient Clans are lucky to survive..."
"Yeah, that explains it." An angry voice harrumphed. "Someone with dirty blood wouldn't possess such a strength."
"But I believe this was a scheme of those Ancient Clans. He could be an illegitimate child of important members and recently rose to prominence."
Unfortunately, their guesses are dead wrong.
Lin Feng has no blood relation with the Eight Ancient Clans.
The messenger lowered his head and said, "We also have a speculation about this person."
"Speculation?" A calm and collected murmur echoed.
The messenger nodded and added, "Yes. At the time, only Lin Feng's group could enter the Bodhisattva Ancient Tree's Realm, and we speculated that his group had obtained the Bodhisattva Heart."
"Even if he wasn't the one who got it... At the very least, he should have possessed Bodhisattva Seeds."
"Hmm, that's logical, but you have not meant to confirm it, right?" The calm and collected voice questioned.
"I'm very ashamed of my incapability, Protectors..." The messenger bit his lips in helplessness.
"What's the current location of this man?"
Faced with such a question, the messenger lifted his head and answered swiftly, "He currently stayed at the Pill Tower. But he'd probably visit one of the four Ancient Clans soon."
"Even if we want to ambush him and his group... We needed precise planning."
"Can you handle it?" The calm and collected voice questioned.
"Pardon?" The messenger was puzzled.
The calm and collected chuckled, "I'm asking you... Can you handle this mission of ambushing him?"
The messenger couldn't help but gasp. He pondered this question for a while but decided not to accept it. Although the messenger wanted the acknowledgment of the silhouettes, he knew the limit of his ability.
After all, he's just a mere Earth-Grade Elder.
"Even if three Protectors descended directly?" The calm and collected voice whispered like a devil.
The messenger was 'audibly' shaken, "T-Three Protectors? I think that's a little too much. This Lin Feng might be strong, but he should be around Early-Stage Dou Saint."
"A young Dou Saint, so don't look down on him." One silhouette with a cold voice suddenly stated. "Based on your information, he's also a monstrous genius."
"We lacked 'Strong Soul' for our main project. His soul would suffice, but that doesn't mean it would be easy to catch him. I'm even thinking three of us wouldn't be enough."
"Four Protectors, can you plan it out?"
The messenger was 'clearly' tempted. He was a Sky-Grade Elder of the Hall of Souls, having a similar position to Hun Lie Shan. However, his strength is unfortunately lower than his.
Ultimately, the messenger failed to contain his greed.
He overestimated himself, thinking the target couldn't possibly withstand the cornering of Four Protectors. Later, this decision would lead to his demise.
"I accept." The messenger answered firmly.
"I will do my best to follow your bidding, oh Great Protectors."
"Good, Protector Sun, Wei, Li, and Wuyou will follow your order from now on." The calm and collected voice was satisfied. "We will be waiting for your good news, messenger..."
Six pillars turned dimmer, and the remaining burst out with extreme mental powers. The red pond below released four bloody bodies, acting as the vessels of the Protectors.
Miles away.
The messenger grinned in excitement and watched four spatial rifts appear before him. Four people stepped out and had a myriad of reactions.
"Phew, the air is still annoying, as I recalled." Said a woman in a black-red robe. Her facial features are 'faintly' shrouded with mist, but the messenger can see her velvety lips.
She's Protector Wuyou, the second strongest Protector in the Evil Spirit Realm's major branch.
Protector Wuyou smacked her velvety lips and looked down at the messenger, "Oh, yeah... What's your name?"
The messenger bowed respectfully, "This lowly one's name is Hun Lie Bei, Protector."
"Hun Lie Bei." Protector Wuyou nodded.
"Little Bei made all the necessary preparations. We will visit the Pill Tower first and scout the situation first."
The messenger furrowed his brows, "Protectors, don't you think that would be dangerous? The Ancient Clan's representatives, mainly Gu Clan's Patriarch, Yao Clan's Patriarch, and Yan Clan's Elders, are still there."
"Gu Yuan, and Yao Dan?"
"Yes..."
Protector Wuyou snorted indifferently, "I admit Gu Yuan and Yao Dan are strong, but Yan Clan's Elder isn't worthy of our attention. With our greater number, I'd like to see how they bear against us."
"Very well." Hun Lie Bei sighed in acceptance. With that, the Protectors left him in the dimly lit room.
He watched the empty air and cursed, "They should follow my order, but here we are..."
"Tsk, as expected of dead spirits."
"Calm down, Lie Bei. Let's prepare for the ambush first." He rubbed his temple and left the room. "I also have to contact the Clan about these arrangements."
"I wonder if I could get Deputy Chief or Tianzun support."
...
Pill Tower.
Baek Ain leaned on the bed's frame and received an interesting future sight. "I didn't expect them to respond this fast."
"As expected of the shitty Hall of Souls."
"Still, they wouldn't expect themselves to enter the Lion's Den." A grin slowly formed on his handsome face.
