Chapter 18: I'm Fine Now.

" Thank God they came in." He sighed. Joseph knew he had no explanation for as why he was there and soon if the two had not come in at the right time, his secret would have been revealed.

Nevertheless, though they had come to his rescue, he couldn't stop wondering why they were there in the first place. Yes they had come to visit Lian but coming together didn't make sense to him.

Seeing the two holding hands, he committed to memory back to the other day when he met them at Lauren's house. Were they seeing each other, he thought.

Were they now a couple, such questions ran in his head.

Not long after, his questions were to be answered though. " Hi Joe" the two greeted the guy before turning to the girl on the bed. And greeted her as well.

Lian too sensed something peculiar about the two, the last thing she remembered, was that the two had gone to meet her parents. The question on her mind was, why were they visiting her parents.

However, she remembered that the girl needed a pretence boyfriend to stop her parents from marrying her off. Perhaps this is why they had visited. And maybe this is why they had gotten so close.

But judging from the way they interacted, it was so perfect to be pretence and if it was, then they had taken enough time to practice.

All this wasn't making sense to her not until she remembered that Joses had long been in love with Belinda. May be the girl had finally fallen for him, she thought.

So now they had become a couple she deduced. But still she needed to confirm from the two and made it a point to ask.

"So for how long has it been." She asked. The rest of the people in the room did not quite understand what she meant and only remained looking at each other.

" I mean you two." She added. Belinda and Joses registered what she meant, but none was ready to answer her question. Joseph on the other hand became eager, he needed to hear the answer more than anyone else in the room. He needed answers to prove his suspicions.

" Not long." Joses replied.

" So that means you two are dating." Joseph eagerly asked. Joses didn't want to talk anymore, he tapped Belinda forwarding the question to her.

Belinda felt shy, she wasn't ready to say anything for as long as Joseph was in the room. The way he was looking at her indicated that he was really eager to hear what comes out of her mouth.

She signaled Joses to drag him out but he too was timid to do so. The only hope left was Lian's say. Lian witnessed all the eye talks and decided to do something. She winked at Joseph signalling him to move out. They had to have a girl talk with her sister.

Joseph did not hesitate in leaving the place. Actually, he found it as a good chance to dig out information from Joses one on one. He pulled the boy out before closing the door behind him.

"Now tell me, his out." She said.

"Actually it's been longer than I thought. I've had feelings for him from day one but I hadn't realised. The first time I saw him back then, I felt this strange attraction towards him but I chose to ignore it. I couldn't stop thinking of him and soon I started missing him. It felt really strange. But I thought all this was just a normal feeling. That day when we hugged, that's when I realised I had feelings for him."

A smile suddenly appeared on her face.

" That was the one of the best moments of my life. Waking up him sleeping next to me. Ooh my.... Was another best moment of my life. But I was scared that he couldn't love me back. So that's why I had decided to ignore my feelings the more. When mum and dad threatened to marry me off, that's when I came up with the idea of hiring a boyfriend. In my mind I had only him but I was afraid of approaching him. And that's why I hired that jerk. But when I went to his place with Jonah, I felt as if I was cheating on him. And that's when I found out that he loved me." She explained to the girl.

The two brothers sat on a bench in the hallway having their boy talk. Joseph had finally gotten all his answers and was now contented. The one who had questions now was Joses.

His brother was acting quite wierd and he had sensed something. "Do you like Lian." He asked. Joseph was shocked how had he sensed this. "Why do you ask?" He replied.

"I have been noticing you, for these past two days, you have not left her side. The way you've cared for her. Like really you've not even showed that much care to Lauren for the past two days."

" But I'm the one who brought her to hospital. So I had to take care of her." He replied.

" It's still you who brought Sisel to hospital as well. Why did you choose to stay by Lian's side." Joses added.

" Of course Sisel had Joshua by her side." Joseph replied.

" Ok your excuses carry weight but I'm still not convinced. Just tell me the truth do you like her."

Joseph was adamant in accepting, though he trusted his brother, he thought it was better him not finding out at this time. A secret is better kept if a few people know of it.

" You will find out the truth at the right time." He replied to the inquisitive boy before moving away in the direction of the cafeteria.

Joses remained confused but however, he gave it no more thought, he was told he had to wait for the right time.

Joshua smiled as he sat on one of the couches in the private ward where Lauren had been admitted. Next to him was the giggling girl whose head was buried into his chest.

He looked at his watch and realised he was already late. He had some appointment and not attending to it would bring him trouble. He looked at the girl who was still giggling and smiled again. He didn't want to leave that soon. He was enjoying spending time with her.

He wanted to account for all the time he had missed spending with her but that wasn't possible yet, he had to leave. " I'm sorry I have to leave, I have some appointment but I'll be back as soon as possible." He said.

The girl's giggles disappeared and then with puppy eyes she begged looking straight in his eyes. " Can I come with you."

" No... You are still weak.. you still need more rest." He replied with a smile while holding her by the shoulders.

" Please.... please... please...." She insisted.

" Remember. They can't see us together." He replied.

Lauren remembered all that he had explained to her. She now got to know who he was to meet and gave up the insist.

She gave him a hug and made him promise to be back as soon as possible which he agreed to. Joshua placed a soft kiss on the girl's head before moving out of the room leaving behind a disappointed Lauren.
