CHAPTER 6

HAZEL'S POV

I woke up the next morning to sound of my alarm blaring so loud into my ear. I groaned and slammed my fist furiously against my bed. This was one thing I hated about school days. They were the worst days of my life. One can't get enough quality sleep at least for once.

I angrily smacked the clock and it fell smashing to pieces on the ground.

"When you are done breaking things Hazel, you come down for breakfast. " I turned and saw my mum at my door smiling with a warning look in her eyes.

"How the hell did you even get in here without knocking?!" I yelled. She corked an eyebrow staring at me. I realized what I had done. " Sorry. I didn't mean it. I must have snapped." I apologized.

"Good. Hurry up and come downstairs for breakfast. And .... The school bus must not get here before you are done. " She said and walked away shutting the door after her.

I scoffed. " Classic mum." I muttered. I got up from the bed. "School bus my foot." I had no Intention of taking the school bus but, I still needed to be ready on time if I didn't want to miss my 'ride'. I hurriedly prepared myself and went downstairs. Mum was already dishing food at the dinner table and dad was there too eating and reading the morning news on his tablet. Jimmy, my younger brother was shoving huge amounts of cereals into his mouth when he looked up and saw me. He grinned.

"Waoh. Look who finally woke up." He said and my dad turned to me. He sighed and shook his head.

"Morning dad." I greeted him glaring at Jimmy and he smirked at me. We weren't really on good terms though. He was always scheming out good chances of getting me into trouble.

"Morning sleepy head. I wonder when you will learn to always get up on time for school. If you hate school, you should just come out plain and let me know..... "

" Dad? How could you say something like that?" I said.

" You really can't blame him, can you?" My mum said and I turned to her. "I was almost thinking the same thing. I would have thought so if I didn't see your result for the literature scholarship test you applied for." She said and squinted at me resting her hands on the table. My dad almost choked on his tea and he looked at mum super shocked and then turned to me.

"The results are out?" He asked me and I nodded. "When?"

" Since last week." I replied and he frowned.

"Why didn't you tell me? Did you make it?" He asked. You should know the answer. Literature was like merely kicking a ball to me. I just didn't want them to know. He would be so keen on sending me to literature class. Not like it matters anyway. I'm already in the literature class but I forgot about it totally.

"I'm sorry it just kinda slipped my mind. I passed and I've already registered in the literature class." I said and watched his frown fade away. It was replaced with a big smile.

" You did? That's my girl." He said and got up giving me a hug. Mum smiled and stared at us while Jimmy sat frowning at me and sulking. It was then it dawned on me that Jimmy actually exposed it to them to get me in trouble as usual but failed. I winked at him and hugged dad more. He extended his middle finger at me and I gasped.
