Chapter 30 For the last time

The ground trembled from the intense heat that Jocylee was creating. Unlike Golla who basked in divine light, she was like an active volcano that was ready to erupt with great momentum. Her mana was a fire element, so she could create immense heat for a short time that could reach the level of natural disaster, but her recharge time was so slow which ultimately resulted in Golla's sacrifice.

However, now she could do it for the last time while burning her life force to save the people. This was enough reason for her.

" As expected from the youngest general that rose in the ranking. You never cease to amaze me, Jocylee. I remember that I almost killed you 4 years ago."

Kassian laughed, turning into a shadow-like entity. His endurance and tenacity were terrible and he could die if Jocylee hit him, but his attack output was so great that most of the higher-level masters or grandmasters feared him.

" You should have left here when you had the chance, Kassian. I will bury you here with my strongest."

The fire erupted out from her body, scorching everything in its way like it was a Sun. With a single slash, the ground was cleaved clean off and the crack on the ground looked like it was cut clean by a giant sword without any blemish. No, one should say it looked like it was disappeared from the face of the planet.

Kassian's voice was muffled as he watched her with horror. This move already transcended the grandmaster level, reaching the demi God level which hadn't appeared in decades. He looked at his dagger which only had its half of body left.

The immense heat that burned his palm woke up from his daydream, telling them she was dangerous, but fortunately, she was already half a step toward death, so he had the push her a little more.

" Do you think I will perish like this, Kassian? I will claim your head and save the royal family."

Jocylee coughed out blood in midway, even so, she had only a goal in her vision. Kassian had to die as she would be able to save the queen.

" I will take you with me, Jocy. You think you can kill me."

Kassian gripped his remaining dagger, shuffling through the shadows, and appeared before her. He reversed the grip of his dagger and pushed it inside her armor, piercing the equipment with ease. He blasted his mana to finish her off.

" Die!"

He blasted the side of her body, bloodying her and himself in the process, but to his horror, her strong hand firmly locked his arm before he could fall back. He saw Jocylee's cold eyes which were devoid of any emotions, only a calm gaze that was prepared to take something like this attack.

" Got you, rat!"

Jocylee said coldly, raising her sword to kill him off. The heat gathered in her sword, making it turn red from the temperature.

" Ah!"

Kassian who was terrified had done the best thing that he could do. He cut his arm, destroying his prowess and ability in to process to save his life. He gritted his teeth, using his mana to stop the bleeding.

" Do you think you can kill me with one arm?"

Jocylee laughed, revealing her bloody mouth. Her life was seeping out from her body despite her powerful outburst, so she had to hurry up. The flame inside her body would soon go out.

" Fair enough. I am not a fool who would waste his life here. You win this time, Jocy."

Kassian sighed, turning around without any thoughts. He believe he could kill her, but there was a large chance that he could die due to his injury after the battle.

Hence, the wise thing to do in this situation was to leave and tend to his injury. Besides, he already got the payment, thus there was no need to kill her since he stalled her for a long time.

Jocylee watched him as she staggered to the tent where she could find her cousin. Her vision was getting more blurry and she felt cold.

" Just a little more. The barrier is down and they should be here soon."

Jocylee mumbled, holding the bottle in her bloody chest.
