Chapter 15 A place without moral

Step, step*

The humid air of the underground overfilled their noses as the dark tunnels continued to stretch forward without any sign of ending. The mysterious stones illuminated the hallway like dungeons, but there were no traps or monsters in front of them as they marched to the unknown.

Tuck*

To their surprise road was made from sandstone which was hard to produce due to the special attribute of southern sand. The sand was blessed with divine power which made it so hard to process, thus simple materials like sandstone and glass were extremely valuable in the South where they had to spend tons of resources to refine it.

Moreover, southern materials had superior quality than western materials due to their beauty and effect.

" Quite treat for a mere black market."

Mikael muttered softly while looking around with a calm gaze. He could tell these merchants were extremely wealthy and they had a huge influence over the cities. Perhaps, their influence went beyond the southern continent.

" Don't mention it. They are a bunch of merciless bastards who like to suck other's blood like a vampire."

Agam clicked his tongue, hastening his moves as his face turned sour when he saw the sandstone. He knew slaves built this road and to build a simple road like this they had to suffer for days. Fortunately, not all the black merchants were black-hearted and cruel. Some of them were kind to their subordinates and slaves. Furthermore, when Agam destroyed his home city's black market, some black merchants tipped their escape routes and so on to assist him.

" The underground has been used for many purposes, but in the end, it became a black market to fund our city. Since our city is invaded by monsters even churches had to close their eyes and accept its existence as a necessary place to balance things out. Without the black market, our military fund would be drained until we die from starvation."

The guide explained lightly, knowing they wouldn't perceive it as a good place. Honestly, he declined their approach, but after living with them for months he volunteered to become their guide because the city needed them.

" Sounds complicated. When will we reach the entrance?"

Licht replied with a short answer when he heard his explanation. He understood there was no other choice than this.

" We are here. Beyond this tunnel we will reach the black market, so as I mentioned before please put on your masks and try to be vigilant. Don't go to places with a few people and darkness."

The guide warned them seriously before leading them to the big underground that was filled with magical lights. The black market was huge as it was bustling with people from various races. Most of them wore masks to hide their identities, but some of them didn't wear one due to their identity or power.

" Welcome to our black market."

Guide said lightly as they went to the check-up. The process went smoothly because all they had to do was give away their invitations. The guard looked at their invitations, signaling them to enter the area.

" Disperse as we talked before. The leader and I will go together. Remember don't make trouble for us!"

Licht warned them with a cold face while heading to the heart of the market. Others shrugged their shoulders with different expressions but they all agreed that they were on a mission. Even Cynthia who was a mascot of their squad was calm.

Regina and Licht reached a tacit agreement to buy items from the shops and most importantly they were interested in slaves because they believed they would find slaves with great potential. Although both of them were reluctant to buy them, they had no power here.

" Let's buy items before."

Regina suggested that they needed some items to buy before their travel. Besides, they couldn't deny the possibility that they would find something invaluable here. Life was a gamble after all.

" HI, friends. Would you like to look at my items?"

Suddenly a woman with shady clothes appeared from the alley. She carefully opened her jacket and showed them vials filled with various potions.

" An alchemist? Why are you hiding yourself?"

Regina asked while raising her eyebrows.
