Horned Devil (Chapter 20)

Blood dripped off my bone spear, joining the ever growing pool of red. The burning in my chest from fatigue as me and the others held the second gate while stragglers made there way towards safety. They had stormed the first part of the city.

As I forced my vision to try and see passed the battling figures of guards and Daedra. The smoke from the fires had not made it any easier. The guard captain had requested that, well not really more of a demand that anyone that could fight do, while two parties formed. One to go into the dangerous part of the city while the other protected the gate to keep the rest of the city safe.

Alawion and Arnovai were giving the groups of people cover fire as the came closer. But something was rushing at them from behind. It was to dangerous for them to shoot any arrows that way. letting go of the spear it fractured into lights of crystals before disappearing and with another small flash the iron sword I had grabbed from a dead guard appeared in my hands.

Taking a deep breath I began to fizzle out with a wisp of red smoke and appeared beside the group as a armored being with black horns coming out of its demonic looking helmet slashed down at them. Slashing upward as I gripped the sword with both hands, my sword collided with theirs.

As our swords collided the force of it's blows forced me down to a knee causing me to grunt. "Hurry get to the gate!" I shouted as my focus was purely on the being before me.

"Weak!" It said with what sounded like a layered voice. " Fail and FALL!" It shouted as it's shield arm slammed into the side of me. Causing me to fall back but as I did it pieced down at me with it's sword. Just as it's sword was about to hit me, Red vapor leaked around me as I vanished and appeared a few feet away.

The taste of iron leaked into my mouth, while focusing my eyes on it, I watched as it pointed at me with it's sword. "Interesting..... But I still smell weakness from you." As if stating a fact, it slowly moved towards me. As that was happening I had lifted my arm to clean my mouth. My nose had been broken from the slam of that things shield.

Again I switched weapons and went back to a spear. Just as he reached the half way mark of my range I thrusted forward at him. It more masculinity figure easily swiped my spear to the side and attempted to smack me with the shield again.

CRACK. FEMALE SCREAM

A horred sound sounded as its shield hit me right on the arm. My left arm trembling as it held on to the spear with both hands. All the while tears threatened to escape my eyes.

"You meet your end before me mortal" Pride in it's voice. Pinging sounds rang out and then a arrow forced it's way through it's shoulder. As it turned its head to see I took my chances and thrusted towards its neck. However he seemed to be expecting that as it stepped to the right and dodged. With a smug look on my face I could see that it wasn't a perfect dodge. I had cut him, even if it was not much I could feel the rage it felt. Turning my eyes slightly I noticed that the people had made it safely back to the gate and as I turned my eyes back towards it, vapor leaked around me again.

"Now I smell weakness" I taunted it as it slashed at my head. Only to slash through red vapor. As I appeared again but this time closer to the gate I felt something hot on my neck. Raising my good hand to touch it and as I pulled it back to look it was covered in blood. It seemed I wasn't fast enough as my hold body trembled.

"Fuck..." was all I managed to say as I fell back and passed out. The feeling of strong arms holding me was the last thing I felt.

Sorus Pov

"Fuck....." the bloody girl said as she began to leen back. I rushed forward and managed to catch her as she fell. But by the gods what did fuck mean?

Leaning her back on one hand I lifted her feet with the other. Quickly I made my way pass the gate and towards the healers. Miss DuskHollow was still shooting at that thing Ellehish had been fighting. While Arnovai rushed down the ladder to me. Turning my head to see it holding it's shield and backing away pass the buildings. Now my focus was on passing the guards that were moving towards the gate with supplies. while other guards were busy with fortified posts. Slamming my back into a tavern door I pushed it open and rushed inside

"I NEED A HEALER!" my voice drowned out the others that were crying and shouting. As a woman in yellow moved towards me. "She's badly hurt." i said as I placed her down in one of the empty rooms. "Will she be okay..?" A trembling voice of Arnovai asked as we both watched the healers golden energy cover Ellehishs body.

"Yeah I think so, she was still breathing as I brought her here...." My fist tightening from frustration. She was stupid for helping those people when she couldn't fight properly. She should have just watched them die like she did for the nord families.

"Do you have any idea what that thing was?" I asked her as she shook her head no. "Well..... whatever that is.... let's hope more don't show up...." Placing my hand on my scimitar "Right you stay with her, I have to get back to the gate." I didn't stay long enough to hear a response as I rushed out the door and back to the battlefield. As I arrived I saw mages shooting spells outward. Finally backup had arrived from the blue palace.
