Dxd: Return of the Apex

I have returned, 10 years spent in a world filled with monsters at least triple my size, taking mutagens to hunt and survive in a harsh world. It's safe to say I'm more a monster than I am a hunter now, after slaying Nergi, a portal home opened and here I am...

Wrath. (1/2)

With a snarl from his mother, the four returned to their walls, using magic to float back to the top, as Samuel turned to return to a safe distance, he heard a simple shout" Archers, fire before he can retreat."

Samuel turned, a small smile on his face as he lowered his Bowgun, becoming calm, his eyes turned a deep orange as he stared at the troops atop the wall, with a deep breath, he rolled to his side.

*Evade extender Lvl 3 activated*

Dodging the first volley, Samuel began to return fire, his ammo choice? Sticky rounds, why? Because of the explosive potential within the rounds.

If you can't go through a wall, bring it down with the enemies still on it, kill the opponents, and open the fort to conquest.

The unique ability of the weapon he was using? Automatic reloading of the rounds pulled straight from his inventory into the chamber,

*Whoosh*

Arrow after arrow missed the young man, the amount fired made the frosty plain look like the voodoo doll of a mistreated wife. The wall was slowly being covered in small blinking mines, waiting for their command to explode, the young man paused for a second, waiting for his companion to act.

<Raj's Pov, 10 mins prior>

Master has done wonderfully to distract the army for this long, I have nearly recovered enough stamina to go invisible again, three, two, one and vanish.

Master has told me of his inventory and how he chose to take me from the old world, I'm grateful for the chance to continue to serve at his side, it is better than the husk of a kitten I was before him. I need to grab these explosive barrels and place them along the wall.

Master called them mega barrel bombs, I have seen him use them in hunts, they damage creatures with hides stronger than this wall, it seems master may be making a statement to those watching in the shadows, I don't know how he knows we are being watched but I trust his judgement.

Dodging the stray arrows is annoying,

*Boom*

The first of the sticky bombs has exploded, there are small cracks in the wall, master has paused, ah he is waiting for me...

<3rd person Pov>

Raj weaved through the wooden spike traps at there front of the castle, placing large barrels near the east side of the wall, the opposite side to where the Greeks and Aria were placed. With the final barrel placed, the Neko retreated into her hiding spot, awaiting the firework display that was about to occur.

Once he Knew that Raj was safe, Samuel moved, from his standing position, he rolled forwards, away from the latest batch of arrows, raising his bow gun, he fired repeated shots at the barrels, before he paused, covering his ears and the sounds of an almighty explosion rang out, screams and the sound of the falling wall dwarfed everything in the area.

The east side of the wall had fallen, the 100 or so troops stationed on it crushed under the defences that they once believed would save them, there was a slight pause to the combat as the Oni took in the might of their enemy, some began to shake while others took a step back hoping to fall back to the keep.

<Samuel's Pov>

As I stood there still revelling in the destruction I had caused, a simple thought forced its way into my mind, 'She is there for the taking, revenge is so close.'

With a small smile, I nodded at the thought, walking towards the rubble, I put my Bowgun back in my inventory, taking a weapon much better suited to close combat, The Fatalis sword and shield. A blade and shield made from the parts of a world ender, the strongest Dragon in his last world, the weapon itself was augmented with +3 attack and +3 health regen, making the worthless troops in front of him health packs rather than enemies.

(Sword and Shield appearance)

With a smile I ran up the rubble, dodging and weaving all attacks that came at me, retaliating in kind, I struck at the arms and legs of the Oni in my path, leaving them for Raj to finish off as she came barreling up the rubble after me.

I made quick work of the nameless Oni in my path, hacking through them, carving my way towards my mother, as I got closer and closer, I could see the expression on her face getting more and more worried. Was it the blood of her kin staining my face and armour or the fact that they were dying so quickly? The fact the son she threw to the wolves is now slaying her kin like sheep?

As I closed in a blade nearly caught my face, as I barely dodged to the side, the blade obviously Greek had denied my vengeance, they were not going to stop me now. As if sensing my rage, Raj appeared out of know where m forcing the Greek backwards, her onslaught surprised even me, I had no idea she was that capable with daggers already.

The Greek in question couldn't retaliate against her aggressive blows, being pushed further and further back, before she could strike a decisive blow, she was thrown back by a jet of concentrated water, a Mage.

A female Greek, probably a bastard of Posiden, Raj rose to her feet, no sign of pain, she growled before disappearing from where she was standing.

Taking this as a personal Vendetta, I ignored the mage, striking out at the Greek who stopped my advance with a throwing knife which he easily blocked, as he prepared to strike back, I used a burst of pace to move within striking distance, throwing him off balance, with a simple thrust, my sword tore through his armour, wounding him heavily.

Not wasting his potential as I did with the other Greek bastard, I thrust my hand into his body, grabbing his slowly beating heart and using Devour,

*Mutation Demi-God gained 10% affinity. Close connections to the 'Hunter' Mutagen, when the Demi-God Mutation is 100% the two mutagens can be fused.*

Interesting.

Picking up my shield once more, I glanced upwards to see the mage missing her head with a seething Raj standing next to my Mother and her final guardian, surprised the other Oni hadn't intervened, I turned around quickly to notice all of the survivors had fallen back to the keep, to protect the queen.

They are only delaying the inevitable.

Re-written this chapter 5-6 times, not sure about it but I have delayed a release long enough, I hope you enjoy it and see you in the next one.
