Chapter [23]

Kaito woke up with the first rays of Saturday morning sunlight, feeling the excitement and slight anxiety of the day of the outing. He stretched in bed, shaking off the sleep and thoughts from the previous day. Today would be a day of new experiences and, hopefully, a bit of fun.

He got up, went to the bathroom, and got ready for the day. After getting dressed, he went downstairs and found his parents in the kitchen. The smell of fresh coffee and toast filled the air, bringing a sense of familiar comfort.

"Good morning, Mom. Good morning, Dad," Kaito said, sitting at the table.

"Good morning, dear," Miki replied, pouring a cup of coffee for Kaito. "How did you sleep?"

"I slept well, thanks. How about you?" he asked, grabbing a toast.

"We slept well too," Gorou responded, folding the newspaper he was reading. "So, Kaito, I heard you have an outing today. How are you feeling?"

Kaito smiled, trying to appear relaxed. "I'm excited, Dad. It'll be fun to hang out with friends."

Gorou let out a hearty laugh, clearly pleased. "That's great, son! Enjoy the day. It's always good to meet new people."

Miki, however, frowned slightly. "Kaito, you're going out with two different girls in such a short time. Don't you think you're moving too fast?"

Kaito sighed, understanding his mother's concern. "Mom, the last girl I tried to get to know... she broke my heart. I need another date to heal."

Miki looked at him, the worry evident in her eyes. "What did that girl do to leave my baby like this?"

Kaito smiled, appreciating his mother's concern, even though she didn't know the whole truth. "It was complicated, Mom. But I'm fine now. This outing will help me move on."

Miki sighed, still worried but nodded. "Alright, Kaito. I wish you luck. And if you need anything, we're here."

"Thank you, Mom. I appreciate your support," Kaito said, finishing his breakfast.

After finishing eating, Kaito got up from the table. "I'm going for a walk around town before the outing. I need some fresh air."

Miki nodded, but not without a warning. "Be careful, Kaito. I heard that five students were found unconscious on the street yesterday. There might be thugs around."

Kaito laughed internally, knowing he was responsible for those unconscious students. "I'll be careful, Mom. Don't worry."

Gorou patted Kaito on the shoulder. "Have fun, son. And be careful with the thugs, as your mother said."

Kaito smiled, waving to his parents. "I'll be careful. See you later, Mom, Dad."

He left the house, feeling the fresh morning breeze as he walked through the city streets. Kaito knew exactly where he wanted to go. He headed to one of the forests on the outskirts of Kuoh, a quiet and secluded place where he could focus and train his connection with nature.

Upon reaching the forest, Kaito took a deep breath, appreciating the clean air and tranquility of the place. He walked among the trees, feeling the energy of nature around him. He stopped in a clearing where the sunlight penetrated through the treetops, creating a serene and welcoming environment.

Kaito sat on the ground, crossing his legs and closing his eyes. He began to meditate, focusing on the sensation of the wind around him and the roots of the trees under the earth. His connection with nature was a fundamental part of his fairy powers, and he knew he needed to strengthen this bond to improve his abilities.

He breathed deeply, feeling the energy flowing through him. The wind around him began to stir gently, responding to his call. Kaito extended his hands, feeling the wind's strength increase. The leaves around him swayed and danced with the breeze, creating a soft symphony of natural sounds.

Kaito began to focus on the roots of the trees, feeling them extend deep into the earth. He visualized the roots moving, growing, and intertwining with those of other trees. He felt the strength and stability of the roots, using this energy to anchor himself and strengthen his connection with the earth.

As he concentrated, Kaito began to notice small changes around him. The plants seemed to respond to his presence, blooming and growing more vibrantly. The forest animals cautiously approached, as if sensing the positive energy emanating from him.

Kaito slowly opened his eyes, feeling more connected with nature than ever. He stood up, still feeling the energy flowing through him, and began to practice some combat moves, combining his fairy and Devil abilities.

He moved with grace and precision, using the wind to enhance his speed and agility. Every strike and movement was accompanied by a gust of wind, making his attacks more powerful and unpredictable. Kaito felt the force of nature by his side, supporting every movement.

After some time training, Kaito stopped to catch his breath. He looked around, admiring the forest's beauty and feeling grateful to have a place where he could connect with nature and strengthen his abilities. He knew this connection would be crucial to face the challenges ahead.

Kaito spent a few more hours in the forest, practicing and meditating. He felt his strength increase and his connection with nature become deeper and more stable. When he finally decided it was time to return to the city, he felt renewed and more confident in his abilities.

As he walked back, Kaito noticed the sun was already high in the sky, indicating it was lunchtime. He quickened his pace, wanting to get home and prepare for the next part of the day.

Upon entering the house, Kaito found his mother in the kitchen, busy with lunch preparations. The delicious smell of homemade food filled the air, bringing a sense of comfort and familiarity.

"Hi, Mom," Kaito greeted, entering the kitchen.

Miki smiled upon seeing her son. "Hi, dear. How was your morning?"

"It was great, Mom. I spent some time in the forest, and I feel much better now."

Miki nodded, satisfied. "I'm glad to hear that. Now go take a shower and then come for lunch. The food is almost ready."

Kaito accepted the suggestion with a smile. "Sure, Mom. Be right back."

He quickly went upstairs, feeling the need to freshen up after the intense morning. In the bathroom, he let the hot water wash away the fatigue and dirt from the forest, feeling renewed with every minute. The shower was quick but invigorating.

After drying off and putting on clean clothes, Kaito went back down to the kitchen. Miki had already set the table, and lunch was served. Gorou was already seated, waiting.

Kaito sat at the table, appreciating the sight of the delicious food before him. "This looks amazing, Mom. Thank you."

Miki smiled, serving Kaito. "I hope you like it, dear."

The meal was calm and pleasant, with Kaito, Miki, and Gorou talking about trivial matters. Kaito avoided mentioning the outing that evening, wanting to just enjoy the moment with his family.

After they finished eating, Kaito asked to leave the table. "Thank you for the lunch, Mom. It was delicious."

Miki smiled, satisfied. "I'm glad you liked it. Go rest a bit before your outing."

Kaito nodded, standing up. "I'll do that. Thank you, Mom, Dad."

He went up to his room, feeling satisfied and at peace. He needed a moment to mentally prepare for the outing. As he entered the room, he closed the door behind him, lying on the bed and letting his thoughts wander, planning the afternoon to come.
