my name is Sharon

"What is your name?" The words burned like fire in the heart of the mysterious lady. She never thought Abbey would resort to such tricks to get her to reveal the truth. However, she was at a disadvantage as she couldn't lie. A burning sensation overcame her as she tried to delay saying her name.

She could feel the heat wave and something else working within her. She pondered what it could be. The more she hesitated, the more painful it became and the more unbearable it felt. So this is how this place works. You literally can't lie. What would happen to me if I tried? She thought anxiously. I haven't spoken a word and I'm already feeling this way.

Abbey interrupted her thoughts to warn her, "You can delay all you want, but I must advise you. It will only get more painful if you drag this out. And if you finally decide to tell a lie, well, you don't want to imagine what will happen to you. I'll leave you to find out for yourself." He said with a smug expression on his face.

The mysterious lady decided to test her theories, but before she could open her mouth to speak, she felt an excruciating pain all over her body. She was being engulfed in hot volcanic lava and crushed under a one million pound truck at the same time. The pain was too much to bear.

She managed to look up at Abbey and saw the smug smile on his face. In her heart, she wished she could struggle to death with him, but that would be too nice. The pain was becoming unbearable and she screamed at the top of her lungs. "Please help me!" she yelled in agony, hoping Abbey would take back his words and offer her help.

Instead, Abbey looked at her disdainfully before saying, "It's not up to me. Once it's been spoken, there's no taking it back. There's nothing I can do for you now. Besides, why is it so difficult for you to say your name? What are you hiding behind a name?"

She gritted her teeth as the pain continued to course through her body. Her blood was being heated to over one hundred degrees centigrade, boiling her from the inside out.

"I have no choice but to say her name," she gritted her teeth again before saying, "My name is Sharon." Immediately, all the pain disappeared. Just like that, she wasn't experiencing any discomfort or excruciating pain. Just like that, her whole body was normal again. "Now do you understand?" he asked. "It's embarrassing, awkward, and tedious," she said, "now that you know my name, what's next?"

Abbey forced a smile before saying, "It doesn't matter." She became even more agitated, "You went through all this trouble just to get my name and now you're saying it doesn't matter. What the hell is wrong with you?" Abbey seemed clueless and confused about everything. He replied, "What's wrong with me? You're the one I should be asking that question. You made such a fuss about your name. If I didn't know better, I would suspect you of having malicious intent. But you have the nerve to yell at me?" "I should be screaming at you," she said, "for putting yourself through that excruciatingly painful process, just for a name. I wonder what you would put yourself through if I asked you on a date or even worse." Abbey trailed off before saying anything else.

"Are you planning to ask me out on a date so soon?" she exclaimed, giggling. There was a brief pause between them. For the first time since they met, Abbey finally looked at Sharon. His heart skipped slowly at first, before skipping faster and faster each time he looked at her. There was a "wow" moment in both his mouth and his heart. He couldn't believe how beautiful she really was. "No wonder she was mad at me," he thought. "I've been taking her for granted."

Composing herself once again, she tried hard to mask her feelings by saying, "Since you are not ready to accept your fault, there is no point in lingering here." "What is your name?" she asked Abbey.

"My name is Abbey," he replied. She couldn't hold back her laughter. "Abbey isn't typically a masculine name," she remarked.

Abbey could only scrub his hair with his hands as he tried to make headway with her. A playful gesture came over him as he replied, "Who really are you, Sharon?" Immediately, she became apprehensive, anxious or fearful that something bad or unpleasant would happen. She replied, "Be careful about asking about me. I know that I can't lie here, but my secrets are still mine to tell, when I choose to tell them. So please respect my privacy."

Abbey did a double take before acknowledging her request to respect her privacy. She nodded with a sign of relief before flashing a seductive smile at him.

Now that they had sorted things out among themselves, they stared at each other once again, a sense of awkwardness engulfing them. Abbey even felt numbness in his mouth.

"We have dwelled too long here. If we don't have anything else to do, I suggest we leave now. Our physical bodies are still unprotected in the real world," Abbey broke the trance between them by speaking. Sharon thought for a while before saying, "I still want to know more about here and find some secrets that I can use."

"The astral realm can also be a trap that can ensnare unsuspecting victims," Abbey warned. "Before long, you wouldn't be able to leave."

"How do you know so much about these places?" Sharon asked out of curiosity.
