Unnamed Feelings

His eyes couldn’t see the light beyond the smoke. It was as dark as the black dragon and the evil weaved through it like his own skin. He was in the air, white, stark white against it. He couldn’t fly up away from Sevir and lose sight. Nor could he fly down toward Sevir to the flames that could make or break his soul bond.

Before he could decide, light crossed by his shoulder, wrapped in grey thick air. His father was fighting the immortal king at the wrong time. He flew after the light. The light materialised into the tangled mess of wings and he collided with his father.

His father threw wind at him while the immortal king freed to aim at the black dragon. Air left his lungs and passed under his wings. No matter how much he fluttered his wings, he fell. Hard and fast towards the canopy of burning trees. The only thing that kept him sane was the scent of smoke, full of Sevir’s presence.
