A serious talk

As Asta slowly walked into the living room he found his mother on the couch and his father sitting on a chair waiting for him. He took a gulp of saliva and sat opposite to his mother.

Wilson who was quiet til now slowly opened his mouth " son, it's time wee have a serious talk. your mother tells me you have awakened your mana. Now i want you to understand that once you step on this path, it can sometimes be dangerous and you might get hurt. Are you ready to face difficulties?"

Asta looked at his father, there was no hesitation in eyes are tone "Yes father. i have heard and read enough stories about great mages and sword masters and i'd like to pave my own path too"

It definitely didn't sound like a child talking, but both parents attributed it to their child being a genius. And as soon as Asta finished his answer, his father got up from his seat and immidiately hugged him and squished his cheeks saying

"Awww, my son i'm very proud of you, I knew it. You will go on to do great things"

"Ahem, you can coddle him later, he needs to learn about the world and its dangers and not put him on cloud nine" Elicia ,clearly the more serious of the two had to bring his enthusiasm down. Meanwhile, Asta was shocked to see the contrast of the doting mother and the current serious one. Though she is serious because she cares.

Elicia looked at Asta "If you're serious about persuing strength then you'll need to start learning from now until you finish the general history and the basics of sensing mana. If you think its going to be easy, then you're in for a rude awakening. Starting next week, your food habits and training wil change. I will inform John and Mary ( head butler and head maid) about the change, and you're free for a week"

Asta readily agreed, he's going to need to learn about a lot of things anyway. And he was quite excited about it too. Elicia nodded Approvingly.

Asta and his parents spoke for a while longer and he left to get some more rest since he was still feeling the effects of passing out. After Asta left, Wilson looked at his wife and lips twitched, he could feel her gaze boring into him.

"Honey, you can't blame me, i'm too proud of him to not get excited. I just"

"Enough dear, i know you're excited and want him to hold family's mantle, but he's not even 4 years old. Let him unlock his attributes and recieve proper training and choose what he wants to do"

Wilson still wanted to convince hs wife "But, he needs to learn the family's secret someday so might as well start his training since he's the only one after our ancestors to have those eyes so-"

Elicia was having none of it " Dear, until he grows up to be strong enough to defeat a 3-star knight or mage you're not telling him anything! Let him enjoy his childhood. i know you're anxious since it's your famiy's dream but we're not putting him under any sort of pressure until he's old. And no talking about inheritance business either" she said sternly.

Wilson thought 'She's right, i was too anxious. I didn't think of it this way and almost forgot it'd be a lot of pressure on a 4 year old child'

Wilson was an idealist through and through while Elicia was more flexible since she had seen a lot of things that shaped her personality. Although Wilson had participated in the war and went through his fair share of experiences, he still held on to his ideals about creating a safer world while having glory. And this was one of the reasons why Elicia loved her husband since he was stubborn and that was his charm.

Asta POV -

After i had the talk with my parents i rested for the day and the whole week i spent time going out on the streets visiting the Levathian city with Dorothy and William. I have to say the city was quite diffferent from what i was expecting, it was clean, the roads were well maintained, people weren't really too rich or too poor.

'I imagined a madieval city to be a bit more... uncomfortable? But i'm pleasantly surprised. I suppose since its a fairly new city and because of all the promotions and glory of the war, the city is buzzling with activity'

I turned to my subordinates and asked faking naivety "The people look happy, is dad a good ruler?"

William smiled and nodded " Yes young master, the Lord personally invests money into the city's infrastructure and businesses. He made a promise after he was promoted that he will make people's lives better and make sure everyone is healthy and happy"

My lips were twitching 'Either my father is an idealist or a great politician'

'I respect the goal but regardless of whichever world or whatever the powers, human nature doesn't change, i'd bet my left ballsack that after a few more years there will be people suffering even after everything my father does. Welp, those are future troubles'

After a brief explaination of all the things my father does and all the important places like the market, the restaurants, magic device shops, the knights training grounds, we made our to way to the most popular restaurant in the city, Harley's quick bites. This place is very popular with the adventurers and the common populace, oh an adventurer is a professional and well respected job for reasons i'm not told yet. since this place will be bustling will all sorts of rumors, i figured i'd take a look. When we got there though, it was filled with people and smell of alcohol was quite strong, so my subordinates didn't allow me to stay, shame.

I was quite surprised that the city had proper drainage and sewage system. Apparently its all thanks to magical tools that are set underground which help in smoother processing of all these. Which begs the question, who made all these, and what is current technological level of this world.

'Ahhhh so exciting, so many things to unravel and so much to learn'

After my little excursion for a few days and then learning about the currency,the common knowledge of the price for items i took a rest for the weeekend since i was going to be busy.

The most used currency in our kingdom was Bucks. Apparently there are other currencies but its not a problem for now. Atleast it's easier to exchange money in the country.

After a break of a week, i finally met my tutor, Ms jasmine. She was a 26 years old woman with light brown hair and brown pupils and a decent figure. she was going to teach me everything from history to etiquette. I just hope to she's nice to get along with.
