Chapter 8- Ascension

'I-Is that....a throne,' thought chris as he was met with the sight of tall colossal crimson throne that had a backrest reaching for the sky itself in this expansive room.

The previous appearance of the cave canal made him think the main room would've been the same had he reached it, but he was clearly wrong.

The rugged and rough walls of the cave were instead smooth and pristine with ancient murals etched into them displaying battles that took place. But chris paid no heed to them, but kept his eyes on the throne.

'Wait a sec!, what type of room is this. It looks way bigger on the inside than it does on the outside. The smooth walls, paved pathways and Sky touching throne shouldn't be here.'

Chris noticed that there seemed to be someone sitting on the throne, but sighed in relief upon seeing that it wasn't the onyx suit of armor but rather a man instead.

The man had pale white skin, dark hair with strands that put the finest of silk to shame, regal attire fit for an emporer coupled with an expressionless face with closed eyes. Chris could feel an immense whirlpool of mana among many other unknown energies swirling around him like an unstoppable typhoon of pressure permeating all around them.

On the left side of the throne, stood none other than the headless suit of armor. Only this time, the onyx knight did indeed have a head, which failed to make his appearance less intimidating, but enhanced his already unsettling appearance.

The suit of armor stood adjacent to the throne in a stoic manner but chris could still feel his gaze on him. If anyone asked chris how exactly he knew, he'd answer with 'prey instincts', as that was the only words that would best describe it.

Chris's eyes were constantly moving around the room to try to explain what exactly was he seeing or rather 'where' was he, doubting his eyes as they took in the sight of this grim but majestic throne room designed with black and red as the dominant colors giving it a demonic aesthetic to it.

Feeding into his curiosity, chris takes a step forward hoping in order to take a closer look at the man on the throne.....

HOOOWWWWL!

An indomitable wave of fear assaults chris as he becomes frozen in place, his Danger sense rapidly tries to warn him but it's to late the blood in his body freezes over and all forms of basic reasoning is wiped form his consciousness.

The wave of fear intensifies, stripping chris of his sapient level of thought processing by the second.

If previous instances the Danger sense skill warned him in the form of subconscious whispers in his mind, mostly using short terms like 'Danger above' or 'Danger below', the only message being transmitted clearly by his skill was given in a cryptic tone this time. Constantly repeating the phrase....

.....'YOU WILL DIE'.

With that being the final nail in the coffin, Chris's mind was reduced to a absolute mess. If he were to keep holding on he would only give himself unnecessary hope....so he let go.

Simple as that.

Chris's mind was showered with this killing intent for days on end, and whenever he was about to die of hunger, the throne room would nourish his body back to full health and energy, but the hunger would remain. Whatever was left of chris's mind couldn't even pass out, due to his body recognizing that he's still in danger and made sleeping futile.

Days passed and enivatably his mind regressed to the point of madness that only his primal thoughts remained and animalistic tendencies of insanity along with it.

Until finally, the wave stopped. The onyx suit of armor dissolved to dust and the room slowly lost its splendor and color. All except the throne and the man that sat on it.

Chris left with only the mind of animal , stayed still for a few hours as if to confirm that the danger had left, clearly in disbelief that the danger was gone. But if his guts( the danger sense) was telling him so, then it must be true.

Chris after a few hours, looked around the unknown room scanning for some much desired food, eventhough his hopes weren't all that high.

His eyes landed on the man on the throne, with apprehension and a strange glint lit up in his eyes as an idea popped up. After confirming there was no other way, he turned and made his way to the still pristine throne.

Standing right in front of the man, chris had to admit that the man infornt of him was by far the most attractive person he has ever layed eyes on. Not that he remembers if he had, but he still had that feeling.

He carried the man, that was surprisingly light and dragged him to the center of the room and began feasting on the corpse. How did he know that this man was a corpse because there was no signs of life that the man showed, so he just took it as a free meal to satiate his hunger.

Upon feeling his hunger satiated, chris layed down and started feeling dizzy, his vision was dimming and fatigue began sprouting. Without hesitation, chris surrendered to the heavenly embrace of sleep, his body and mind relaxed as he slumbered.

Unbeknownst to chris, his body and mind had not slumbered as he did, but were instead undergoing a complete transformation. Where his bones were constantly breaking apart and reattaching with stronger bone density, flesh and organs adopting new constitutions and overall properties.

But the largest transformation took place in his mind where it was simultaneously giving chris well needed rest and undergoing it's own upgrade, boosting the it's present capabilities to a whole new level.

By the time chris woke up, he was shocked to his core and the sight that met him. Who knew five words were enough to send him extreme levels of disbelief and shock.
