Chapter 2

Unsurprisingly, the day went as bad as I expected. Tang Hao was all sullen and sulking on a corner while Tang San all but offered to massage his feet, shoulders or something like that. Seriously, if I didn't know Tang San was straight I think he'd offer to even suck Tang Hao from how much of a bitch Tang San is to that waste of space.

How a kid could even remotely care about a parent like that, I will never know.

When it was time to eat diner father finished his portion first, but instead of going back to bed to drink until he passes out he started trying to talk while I ignored him in favour of the food in front of me seeing as I was quite hungry. Seeing this he took what little food I had in my plate forcefully and ate it.

I look at him incredulously, did he literally stole food from his own child? The fuck is wrong with him?

"Tomorrow you both will awaken your spirits. When that happen it mean you are grown up enough and I will help you find something to do for your future as you can't accompany me forever." He said seriously and Tang San looked at him as if he had spoken words of wisdom.

... He just wants to dump us somewhere else so he can do some other shit, probably bang some nameless whore and get his next batch of kids to give them to the sect, or maybe just go cry over his mostly dead wife like a bitch instead of training to get revenge frontally like a man. He certainly seems the type to do either of those considering he is kicking out two six years old kids while claiming we are 'grown up'.

Feeling exhausted from trying (and likely failing) to act nice, I just deadpan at him before I speak.

"... Since when did either of us needed your help? Wasn't it the two of us taking care of you for the last three years with you barely working as a blacksmith and the money mostly going for your drinking?"

"Brother Ming, don't slander father!" Tang San said with cold steel in his tone and I snorted at him.

"I am not slandering him, I am just speaking facts. He never bothered to be a proper decent father before and now he wants to kick us out of the house at the very first chance he's got. Why should anyone respect someone like that? I won't respect trash just because we share blood."

Tang Hao fist slammed into the table and he looked at me with anger.

"You don't know anything about me, so don't speak nonsense."

I just glare back.

"Since I can remember all you do is make me and brother San do all the chores in the house, we barely having enough to eat while you waste most of the money we get our hands on in booze. I have never seen you not stinking of piss or achohol, most times both at once. Hells, the stench is the first freaking thing I remember for fucks sake! I have had to go hunt in the woods nearby to find something to eat when I was starving because you decided to spend all the cash on more of that damn thing you love so much, and I almost died at that time too, not that you cared since you was passed out drunk at the time. And now you want me to trust my 'future' to you? I would be better served asking a hungry spirit beast for help as it would be more reliable."

PUNCH

Looking up I see a red faced Tang San, his hand raised as he just punched me for what I said.

Anger bubbled up over this fact, that this suck-up bitchy beta who likes to act all righteous actually had the guts to attack me in defense of that wastrel Tang Hao.

I jumped at Tang San, fists blazing.

... I got beat up. Tang San always had this weird kung-fu he practices all the time while I have to clean the house. I asked him to teach me once, but he said he cannot unless I bow to him as teacher, which is stupid.

I won't bow my head to a little kid just to learn some martial arts. I will not act humble towards someone I cannot respect due to how pathetic he truly is beneath his kind fake persona.

At least I got a few licks in, it wasn't much but it was something. As for Tang Hao, he just watched as I left the house with bruises from the fight with Tang San. The worst part, I heard he speak after I closed the door.

"Good job little San, for knocking some sense on your brother."

... I wanna throw up.

///---///

"Its time." I said as I looked at the gathering of the kids who looked excited about this special event, and I can't blame them.

It has also got me riled up also since today is the spirit awakening ceremony. I look at my side and saw that my 'brother' looked as stoic as he ever did. I honestly can't tell what his emotion is right now but I don't care much considering everything. Regretfuly, we do lack any true emotional connection since our values are too different and we both are quite stubborn, with him wanting to kiss the flood father steps in and murder anyone who even looks at him wrong, and me wishing that my family was a fucking actual family instead of an abusive father and a bloodthirsty dickless simp for a brother.

Regardless, I am anxious to see this spirit awakening done since, the sooner I get my spirit, the faster I can get out from my 'fathers' grip. Even if I don't have any spirit power I can still go do as miss Ming said, going to a town to help in the store of her son. It wouldn't even be a bad thing for me since I was in the military before reincarnating, worked a few years in the front lines before going to administration so I know enough about how to do administrative work.

Soon we arrived at the largest building in town that I have come so many times over the years, the village's spirit hall branch. Today, however, there was someone new standing in front of the place. It was a young man of about twenty something years old with smooth black hair and a lot of arrogance, he must be the one that has come to take care of our spirit awakening ceremony.

"Good evening children, I am Su Yuntao." He introduced himself. "I am the examiner for today. I am the spirit hall representative sent to help everyone obtain their spirits, I am also a level 26 spirit grand master."

Well, good for you I guess? I don't really know how spirit cultivation works outside but having such a cultivation at his age should be average at best and far from a genius, still better than many people though and that Spirit Hall sends people to do these sort of work for free is quite magnanimous.

I bet that, if it was up to the nobles that come around sometimes to get the taxes, we would need to pay a lot to unlock our spirits and many that might have had a chance in this career would not be able to afor it.

Well, good for me I guess.

As I observe the kids having their spirit awakening I sigh, it was truly quite rare for someone to have any spirit power and many of the kids didn't have any spirit power and there were only two who had half rank innate spirit power, which would be far too hard to train and have no real chance of becoming powerful in the future. Hells, almost all of the kids were 'trash' spirits like napkins, farmer scythe, shovel and is that even a stick?

... I hope I have a better spirit than a stick.

"Brother." Tang san called me out as I looked at him, seeing he has actually turned sympathetic eyes towards me... What does he want now? "I'm sorry about what happened back home but you have to understand he's our father."

I stayed silent as I did not reply to Tang san, only looking at him with a dedpan face at his remarks. Being our father doesn't mean that what I said is wrong.

Seeing that I was not replying he exhale and looked at a girl whose spirit is blue silver grass.

"Maybe once your spirit awakens….. Then you don't need to stay at fathers house."

"Hopefuly, yeah." I replied to him finally while watching the moment Tang san was called by Su Yuntao.

I know what's gonna happen, Tang is going to get something special since he's always special. He is not like other kids and I don't really doubt he can become a spirit master, as irritating at that boot licker can be.

Imagine my surprise that he got blue silver grass instead of some powerful spirit. Many people even mentioning how he got one of the trashiest spirits out there, which is not really wrong.

Blue Silver grass is definetly one of the weakest spirits in the mainland die to various things, the only thing good one can say about it is that it has great vitality, but I don't really doubt Tang San can become strong regardless as long as he is born with decent spirit power.

Su Yuntao wanted to dismiss him but decided to humor Tang San and let him test his spirit power.

And, look at that. He was born with inmate full spirit power, the agreed greatest level of talent in the mainland.

"*SIGH* This must be the greatest joke ever, the greatest of talents but the worst spirit. Even a farm tool would be better than Blue Silver grass, the Gods played a prank on you." Su Yuntao said to Tang San who looked at his Blue Silver Grass before speaking.

"Even if my spirit is not good, I will become strong."

Su Yuntao just shrugged at the proclamation before speaking.

"Alright thats everyone. Now I shall take my lea-"

"Wait, you forgot my brother sir."Tang San said as I waved at Su Yuntao who coughed in his hand at realizing his slight mistake.

"O-Of course, I must have just lost count. Very well, come over boy you are the last one."
