Chapter 14: Innate Martial Soul Skills.

Chapter 14: Innate Martial Soul Skills.

Every martial soul has an innate skill depending on the rank of the martial soul. The higher the grade of the martial soul, the more useful the innate skill is.

For example, the innate skills of the [White Tiger] martial soul are [White Construction] and [White Tiger Claws]. Thus, even before adding a soul ring to the martial soul, a soul master possessing the [White Tiger] martial soul can enter a martial soul possession state and access these two skills.

When an entire clan shares one martial soul, the innate skills are the same for all members with that martial soul. A prime example is the [Seraphim] martial soul, inherited by all members of the [Qian] clan. All members who possess that martial soul also have the same innate abilities.

If a martial soul mutates during the awakening ceremony, the innate skills may vary in power depending on the type of mutation.

In the original novel, Huo Yuhao possessed powerful innate skills, indicating that his [Spirit Eyes] were exceptional from the start. However, he was too weak at the time to realize their true potential.

When Yuhao asked Ellie to upgrade his martial souls, she started from a sufficiently high level, allowing the martial soul to evolve and become [Eyes of Heaven]. Upon using [Analytical Appraisal] on his martial soul, Yuhao was delighted by what he saw:

[Name: Eyes of Heaven.]

[Type: Martial soul of Huo Yuhao.]

[Rank: Unmeasurable.]

[Description: A pair of eyes that see the world differently, providing the user with immense control over spiritual energy and combat initiation.]

[Innate Abilities: Immense control over spiritual energy, enhanced growth for spiritual energy, instinct, danger sense, seeing through all falsehoods, heavenly mirror, authority of heaven.]

The abilities of immense control and enhanced growth for spiritual energy alone elevate this martial soul to a top-level grade. However, Yuhao focused on the other skills:

[Instinct: The ability to instantly identify the "best personal course of action" during combat, potentially reaching the level of predicting the future with sufficient training.]

[Danger Sense: A 'sixth sense' for imminent danger, allowing the user to detect and be warned of danger before it occurs. The sensation intensifies with the proximity and severity of the threat.]

[Seeing Through All Falsehoods: No deception can fool the user, from lies to illusions, revealing reality in its true colors.]

[Heavenly Mirror: Allows the user to replicate all combat movements like a mirror reflection.]

[Authority of Heaven: Projects Heaven's will onto the real world, granting access to the information dimension to know everything about the surroundings.]

After reading the descriptions of these innate abilities, Yuhao chose to remain silent. Ellie had gone above and beyond to upgrade his martial soul to become a formidable entity worthy of being called [Eyes of Heaven].

'Ellie, I am worried. What am I going to fight in the future for you to give me this martial soul? We are dealing with a control freak in the divine realm, not the entire divine realm,' Yuhao called out to Ellie, demanding an explanation. Ellie, being the sweet girl she is, chose to ignore him.

Yuhao remained silent for a while before finally sighing. He was not unhappy with this martial soul; on the contrary, he was delighted and eager to start training to master his new pair of eyes.

However, he was also worried. If Ellie gave him this martial soul, it meant he would need it in the future. He dreaded the type of danger that would demand such powerful eyes.

He sighed as he returned his gaze to his mother, who was still playing with the [Monster Slime] martial soul. Seeing her so cheerful distracted him from his dark thoughts.

'Whatever I face in the future is not the problem. I will make sure I am strong enough to tackle and overcome it. I will give Mother the legacy trial tonight when we go to sleep and prepare for world travel,' Yuhao hyped himself up, knowing that stressing over future problems was futile.

He decided to gather supplies before their world travel: food, water, medicine, clothes, etc.

'I will do that tomorrow morning,' he thought, feeling tired and longing for a good night's rest on a soft bed.

"But before that, let's check the innate skills of the [Monster Slime] martial soul," he thought as he turned his gaze to the blue translucent blob in Huo Yun'er's hand and used [Analytical Appraisal] on it:

[Name: Monster Slime.]

[Type: Martial soul of Huo Yuhao.]

[Rank: Unmeasurable.]

[Description: A cute monster slime from a distant universe. Although it may be the weakest monster in the grand scheme, this is due to a lack of spiritual awareness. Legends speak of a slime that gained awareness and evolved to the pinnacle of existence in that faraway universe. Despite its cute appearance, it is a highly versatile martial soul.]

[Innate Abilities: Infinite regeneration, predator, slime physique (passive), monster title (passive).]

Yuhao looked at these innate skills and the description, sweating in disbelief. "Did I kidnap Rimuru's child or something? How is this slime so OP?" he wondered as he studied his innate skills.

Infinite regeneration and predator were self-explanatory. Infinite regeneration allows for the regeneration of both material and spiritual bodies as long as enough energy exists. Predator is a unique skill that is a cheat in its own right.

He focused on the two passive skills:

[Slime Physique (Passive): A versatile physique allowing the user to control their body to a higher degree. Multiple skills and bloodlines can coexist harmoniously with this physique. The user also gains resistance to physical and spiritual attacks, as well as abnormal status effects.]

[Monster Title (Passive): Owners of this title are true monsters, gaining power by killing humans, elves, dwarves, etc. As long as it is not a monster, anything can be killed to gain more power. Monsters increase their energy reserves and physical strength by killing other life forms.]

Yuhao stared at the two passive skills in disbelief. No wonder he felt as light as a feather when his martial soul awakened. His slime physique allowed the [White Dragon of Nihility] bloodline and [White Tiger] bloodline to coexist without issues. The [Dragon Core] and [Blood Core] no longer rejected each other.

Yuhao had felt the changes in his body after the awakening ceremony but attributed them to the martial souls awakening. He had no idea about this skill until now.

'Oh my goodness. Alarion warned me that having multiple bloodlines in one body can be harmful or even disadvantageous,' he remembered his friend's teachings in the legacy space.

'I had it easier because I am a class holder with a stronger body and soul. After gaining Alarion's blood essence, I have a [White Dragon of Nihility] body being integrated into me as I gain more blood essence rings. But this skill is truly miraculous.'

'No wonder Rimuru is ridiculously overpowered. It turns out slimes are broken existences. Thank God they lack awareness; otherwise, the universe would have ended long ago,' Yuhao thought, scratching his chin.

What surprised Yuhao the most was the other passive skill. "Monster title—does that make me a monster as well? Hmm, Evil soul masters don't stand a chance against me. I now have another reason to annihilate them," he thought, a creepy expression crossing his face.

He had a point. He already possessed the [Corrupt Light] element. Although corrupt, it was once the purest [Light] in Alarion's universe, viewing evil soul masters who practice using innocent lives as fuel as filthy. With the monster title, he was more eager to hunt them down.

However, not all evil soul masters are bad. A person can awaken a martial soul with [Darkness] or [Evil] attributes, but if they cultivate normally, there should be no issue. It is those who fall and practice using human lives as fuel for cultivation that deserve to be hunted down.

In this time period, a child who awakens a martial soul with [Darkness] or [Evil] attributes is often judged as an evil soul master, which is truly infuriating. A child has no control over the martial soul they awaken, and with proper guidance, they could thrive and become stronger than soul masters of similar soul power rank. Instead, they are labeled as evil soul masters and hunted down.

Yuhao sighed, shaking his head.

"Anyway, I am tired. We did a lot today. We arrived here, booked a room, wandered around the night market, and finally awakened my martial souls. Today was productive, and I deserve a good night's sleep," he thought, yawning and stretching lazily on the couch.

Noticing her son's state, Huo Yun'er stopped playing with the [Monster Slime] martial soul and looked out the window.

The moon illuminated the sky, casting a silver glow over the city. The roads and streets were empty, and the once-busy stalls were now closed. Night had arrived, allowing the people to rest.

"Hao'er, let's go to bed," she said, carrying her son to the bed. She placed him on one end, locked the door and windows, and lay beside him. Hugging him in her sleep, he snuggled close, and she smiled, hugging him tighter and covering them with the blanket, ready to enter the land of dreams.

What she failed to notice was the pink diamond that sank into her body as she drifted into sleep.

'She will now face the legacy trial. I hope she will be okay. I placed many nanobots in her body to assist her in the trial. I don't know whose trial it is, but I trust Alarion. He gave me that pink diamond as a legacy trial for my mother,' Yuhao thought as he set up the security system to keep himself and his mother safe while they slept. He closed his eyes, ready to sleep, only to find himself in a new space.

'Oh my god, can I catch a break already? I finally have a decent bed to sleep on, and now I'm in another weird space. I'm pretty sure Alarion did not resurrect himself to talk to me, so who is it this time?' Yuhao was annoyed as this was the second time this had happened to him.

He found himself in space, surrounded by brightly shining colorful stars.

"So, we finally meet, Yuhao," a soft voice echoed through the space, and Yuhao immediately became alert.

"Relax, I won't hurt you," the voice appeared again.

"Then show yourself first," Yuhao demanded.

"Okay," the voice replied.

*Choo-Choo*

'Is that a train horn?' Yuhao wondered, looking confused as a train appeared out of nowhere and rushed toward him.

He looked at it in confusion.

"This train looks a bit familiar," he muttered as the door finally opened, and his jaw dropped when he saw who came out.

The person who exited the train was stunning, with long white and purple hair tied in an ornate ponytail. Her eyes were bluish-purple with bright pink glowing irises shaped like a four-pointed star. She wore a purple t-shirt tied around her flat stomach and baggy black shorts.

"Hello, Yuhao. We finally meet. I waited until you were in a safe place to meet you. I am Kiana Kaslana, but you can call me Kiana," the girl spoke cheerfully, introducing herself.

Yuhao's brain short-circuited.

"I really can't catch a break, huh," he muttered, gazing at the girl in front of him.

(Chapter 14 finished.)

An:

Oh boy, this chapter is 2.2k words without the author's note. In this chapter, we introduced what innate martial soul skills are and how they are affected by the user's talent, providing a better understanding for those unfamiliar with the series.

I also introduced Yuhao's innate skills. They might sound OP, and they are, but I don't plan for him to become OP yet. We haven't had a training arc yet; how can he become OP without one?

Please be patient with me.

Yuhao finally met the tuna of finality, and I believe they will become best friends quickly.

The next chapter will be about Kiana, followed by Yun'er's legacy and world travel. I welcome suggestions for Yun'er's legacy holder. Please suggest a female character who is OP for Yun'er to inherit her powers. I considered [Monarch of Plagues], but after visiting the [Solo Leveling] wiki, I was disappointed by her powers. She is strong but not crazy strong. I don't have much information about the rulers, so I need help.

Also, I asked this in the previous chapter, but no one replied. If I made a Patreon and released advanced chapters there, would you consider joining it? Let me know.

Don't forget to comment on memes, share your thoughts, and most importantly, post waifu pics.

That's all for now.

Bye.
