Chapter 10: Gains and the Start of the Journey.

As Yuhao walked through the portal, he found himself in the same position as before he took the trial: sleeping in the carriage, using his mother's lap as a pillow.

The only things that made him believe that he had gone through the legacy trial were the changes in his body, the pink diamond in his hand, and the white scale tied to his body.

He remained silent for a moment, going through all the memories he made with Alarion in the legacy space. He clearly remembered all of it: the harsh training, the stupid jokes they shared, and finally, their parting.

'It feels so surreal,' he thought to himself as his mother continued playing with his hair.

'Well, I feel sad. My first friend in this new world died and gave me his inheritance. Maybe Ellie chose this trial not only to help me gain powers that will aid in my journey but also to help me grow as a person.' His guess was correct as Ellie appeared in front of him and started hovering over his face.

'Thank you, Ellie. I am really glad that you are my partner in this journey.' He talked to Ellie in his mind, and she responded by simply stroking his face with one end of her golden body.

The trial not only helped him gain a martial soul that goes beyond the limit of this world but also helped him mature as a person. This is not a civilized society where order and justice are maintained; no, the society he is in now is decided by the whims of the strong, and he has to grow stronger than anybody.

He trained with Alarion in the trial space on how to fight, how to survive, and how to kill an enemy. He still remembered the first time he vaporized an opponent, although it was all an illusion made by Alarion in the legacy space. He felt everything and finally shed the innocent shell he had after reincarnation.

He used [Great Sage]'s [Analytical Appraisal] on himself, and the results:

Yuhao's mind received all the information, and he nodded to himself. He cast an illusion on himself to appear that he was sleeping and then raised his index finger to generate a spark of [Corrupt Light].

The moment the spark appeared, it generated an intense purifying/healing effect, an intense corrosive/destructive effect, and extreme heat. It really was a paradoxical existence that was overbearing. Yuhao watched it for a moment and then dispersed it.

He canceled the illusion and turned around, his face sinking into his mother's flat belly as he breathed in her comforting scent. He hugged her slim waist and fell asleep. He was emotionally exhausted and wanted to rest a bit.

What he failed to notice was that the moment he fell asleep, his mother's face started blushing, her breathing became heavier, and her eyes started changing. Luckily, she regained her senses at the last minute.

Hours went by, and Huo Yun'er also fell asleep with her son sleeping on her lap. It was the most peaceful sleep they had ever had in quite a long time. Only soft breathing sounds were heard inside the carriage.

A few hours passed, and the morning sun started waking up, casting a golden glow that gently warmed the earth. Gentle sunlight coming from the window fell on Huo Yuhao, waking him up for a new day.

"Hmm…" Huo Yuhao woke up from his slumber. He sat up and let out a lazy yawn. He looked around and saw his mother still sleeping. He felt kind of guilty that he had slept on her legs the whole night.

'Man, I guess her legs are not asleep; they are in a coma,' he chuckled at his own silly joke and got out of the seat.

He gazed out the window and watched the scenery. They were on a route that would take them directly to [Heavenly Soul Capital City], with only two stops on the way, and it would be quite a while before the first stop.

He grabbed one of the storage-type soul guidance devices that he took from the [White Tiger Mansion] treasury. He manipulated some of the soup energy to the soul guidance device to operate it and brought out some fruits that he picked up from the forest near the cottage and started eating.

'Hooh, I feel alive. I missed food so much; I spent a long time in the legacy space without eating.' He ate the fruits voraciously and started talking to Ellie.

"Ellie, sweetie. Good morning." The cute golden string came out of his chest and started dancing in front of his face as if 'greeting' him too. He watched for a moment as he finished the fruit in his hand.

"Before I forget, Ellie, can I get a [Pain Resistance] skill? I nearly passed out in the legacy space a couple of times, and if it weren't for the nanorobots dulling my senses, I would surely have lost my mind because of the pain." He made a request to Ellie. His body shivered whenever he remembered the torturous blood essence absorption process.

'Well, as they say, no pain, no gain. Except this time the pain was out of this world,' he thought as he watched Ellie glow for a moment and enter his chest. A couple of seconds went by, and Ellie reappeared with a new golden ring on her body.

'I should have done that before entering the legacy space. Well, no use thinking over it now,' he thought as he made his way towards his mother.

'Sigh, her appearance improved again. I swear I only ordered the nanobots to heal her, not give her a genetic makeover. Simp nanobots,' he thought as he sat beside her.

'Let's see. We will probably reach [Heavenly Soul Capital City] by tonight. We can probably rent a room in an inn and start looking around for a house the following morning.'

'I hope I can find someone to awaken my eye's martial spirit when we reach. I am tired of keeping an illusion on myself to hide my appearance.'

(An: You might have forgotten this, but during class ascension, his hair color and body structure changed, and now after he gained the [White Dragon of Nihility] martial soul, his appearance changed again.)

'I can probably ask Ellie to awaken it for me, but that would cost her energy reserves. It is not efficient, because I am sure Mom would want to awaken my spirit as soon as possible.' He pondered as he watched the scenery change from the window.

'After we purchase a house, what can we do in [Heavenly Soul Capital City]? The only notable thing about [Heavenly Soul Empire] is that it has both the [Tang Sect] and the [Body Sect].' Yuhao remembered details from the novel as he thought about their next move.

'The [Tang Sect] should be in decline now, and all the members will probably be wiped out this year or the year after, except for Tang Ya for some reason.' He found it ridiculous that this girl managed to survive and no other sect thought to invade the [Tang Sect] and gain their inheritance. While these skills are useless for him, for other forces, it is a treasure mine, yet no one thought to rob them.

'As for the [Body Sect], although they treat all their members as family and the leader, Du Busi, is a level 98 Hyper Douluo, meaning that safety should be guaranteed, the members of the sect look down on soul-guidance tools and prohibit other members from developing them.'

'Hmm, a world with rich resources but not higher than this one. I can use a loophole here.' Yuhao thought as he skimmed through all the fantasy worlds he read about before reincarnation.

'Ellie, check my memory and see if the world I have in mind is possible to travel to with your reserves,' Yuhao asked anxiously in his mind.

Ellie paused midair and appeared to be 'reviewing' his memory. That lasted for a moment before she replied with a 'look' that said, 'You are so cheeky, Yuhao,' and it appeared that she could.

'Very well then. And you can take us to one of the failed [Routes] of that world, right?' he again asked this cute golden string.

After he knew the truth about the [Prime] and [Routes] universes, he started viewing things differently. Alarion's world was a [Route] that was destined to be eliminated, but he still persisted till the very end.

What if he can visit one of these failed [Routes] and use its resources as he wished and he didn't mind lending a hand when the situation becomes dire. And sure enough, Ellie 'said' that it was possible.

What he did not know was that a certain tuna of finality was watching all of this and started looking at Yuhao in a different light.

(An: All of you, Kiana fans, be patient; she is going to appear pretty soon.)

'Alrighty then, Ellie, return back. I am going to wake up Mother. We are approaching our first stop,' Yuhao instructed Ellie as he noticed they were nearing a small town.

Ellie sank back into his chest, 'complaining' that she did not have enough time to play outside.

The first stop in their journey—would it be peaceful? Who knows.

Regarding Tang Ya, I have mixed opinions about her. I don't really like her as a character. At this time, she should be in the sect and will join [Shrek Academy] in a year or two. She should be currently 9 or 10 years old.
