Xu Fengyuan's whole body was in pain. Even the death in his previous life didn't hurt as much as it hurt now.

Xu Fengyuan's pale skin became even paler, his eyes bloodshot. His short black hair stuck to his forehead because of the sweat.

Suddenly, a strange black gash split apart the air 3 feet away from him in the air. Xu Fengyuan mouth gaped open, and blood spurted out from his mouth.

At this moment, a strange light emitted from the black opening. A ball-shaped object, as large as an infant's fist, black as coal but with green, blue and silver colors swirling around it, shot out. Suddenly, a burst of unbelievable cold burst forth from the black object, dashing into Xu Fengyuan's body in a flash.

His body started to shudder as the previous burning sensation vanished and he felt as if he had been suddenly thrown into an ice cellar. He was jolted awake and suddenly everything seemed crystal clear to him.

The black pearl seemed to be attracted by something within his body, and with a swoosh, it flew right into his mouth. Xu Fengyuan felt a sudden cold in his throat, then his whole body seemed to turned into ice, and his senses were all sealed suddenly, and he blacked out.

While being blacked out, Xu Fengyuan had his first dream since coming into this world. He dreamed about his past life.

In his past life, Xu Fengyuan was a shadow guard of the Tang Sect. He was chosen as an orphan and was taught the clan's secret techniques, so that he could be turned into a weapon.

He never had a name, as his only purpose was to live and die for the Tang Sect. He didn't receive the name Xu Fengyuan until he came to this world.

Over the years, Xu Fengyuan had proved himself, assassinating members of other sects and infiltrating them. It wasn't long until he became the leader of the shadow guards who protect the Inner Sect.

So when the secret sect lore was stolen by Tang San, Xu Fengyuan was chosen to eliminate him and take back the secret sect lore.

However, Tang San was a genius with vast mastery of the clan techniques, and managed to escape his grasp again and again. Eventually, the Elders were disappointed in his progress and chose to make a move themselves.

After Tang San committed suicide by jumping off Hell's Peak, they needed someone to blame so that the Tang Sect's reputation wouldn't be stained. After all, if a mere outer sect member managed to steal the sect lore under the noses of the Elders, wouldn't it be laughable?

So, Xu Fengyuan was chosen to take the fall. He became a traitor who conspired with Tang San to steal the clan secrets, and was put to death by the orders of the second elder.

Xu Fengyuan didn't care though. He was already used to being in pain and being used. To him, death was a form of release.
