Chapter 13

At the Thompsons mansion

On the dining table was Grandpa Thompsons, Mr and Mrs Thompsons, Mr and Mrs Collins, Clara's parents and Clara herself, they are all chatting and waiting for Addy to arrive. Emma had made arrangements with Clara parents to discuss the two families coming together.

Addy does not know the plans his mother had for him. He had his suspicions that something is about to happen. On getting to the mansion, he went straight to the dining room, he saw his family sat on a side of the table and another family sat on the other side of the table. He looked at them and saw two familiar faces. the man which he recognised as the minister of Finance and the lady that came to his office this afternoon, when he saw her, his face changed and came to realisation that he has fallen into his mothers trap. If the Minister of Finance is here and that doctor is here, that means she is the one his mom was talking about this morning.

Emma was a little bit nervous knowing her son, she tried her best to avoid eye contact with him but was not sure what his reaction would be,

"Son come here and have your sit" she motioned for him to sit beside her. He did what his mom said and remained quiet

"This is Mr and Mrs Collins and their beautiful daughter which I believe you've already met this afternoon. He is the Minister of Finance Jack Collins and we are hosting them" she continued pleading with him with her eyes not to react in a way she will be embarrassed.

"Good evening Sir Ma, I'm Andrew, it's nice to meet you" he greeted them

"The pleasure is ours" Jack Collins replied

"Let's eat," his grandfather said, where he was sitting at the end of the long dining table

They all ate their food quietly. Clara was sneaking a peek at Addy, even though he noticed, he didn't react cos he knows she was weird anyways.

After they all finished eating, they all went into the living room where they were chatting, Addy was sat in a corner with his phone when Clara came up to him

"Do you want to exchange numbers?" Clara asked

"No" he replied bluntly

"But it will be easier to be able to communicate directly with you, especially with the project I've got with your company "

"Well, you can always contact the office for stuff like that" he replied

"Ok if that is the case, can we be friends then, we can hang out whenever you want especially on my days off at work," she said

"You have days off, I don't, so we cannot hang out or be friends"

Clara was a little bit disappointed but that does not mean she is ready to give up. What Addy doesn't know is that his mom already gave her his personal contact number.

After a while of hanging out with his family and their visitors, he told them he is about to go, when Clara said to him to drop her off on his way because she didn't bring her car and she has an appointment with someone. After a little consideration, Addy agreed to drop her off,.

He sat in his car quietly, while Clara was playing with her phone, pretending to take pictures of herself, while he was in the background. Addy chose to ignore her.

When they got to where Clara to him to drop her off, the driver parked in front of the building.

"Thank you so much, Andrew, I don't know what I would have done without you" she said

"Yeah sure" He replied

"Bye see you later," she said smiling at him. he nodded and drove off. After he dropped her, she went into the building, where her best friend was already waiting for her. She saw Addy's car drop her off.

"Oh he's already dropping you off, lucky you" her best friend Kiara giggled as she hugged her

"He is a sweetheart, he insisted that he would drop me on his way"

"Aww bless him, so how was the family meeting? when is the wedding?"

"We haven't picked a date yet, but it definitely will be this year"

"Oh I really can't wait," her friend said happily.

Clara had lied to her friend that she and Addy have been dating since she was in school, but because of the type of person he is, they had chosen to keep the relationship secret, and now shes lied that they are getting married. Kiara genuinely believed her.

She showed Kiara the pictures she took with him in the car and was blushing.

"Oh my dear, I can see you are in love, you know its a good feeling. I also cannot wait to fall in love with a handsome guy and he also loves me" Kiara said. All Clara could do was smile.

After a while, they both said goodbye and went to their respective homes.
