Doomsday

Jacob was getting a little bit bored. Currently, him and his class were on a field trip.

His class wasn't very big, pretty small to be honest.

It consisted of only twelve students, seven boys and five girls.

On the boy's side, there was Jacob, his best friend Samuel, a small looking boy named Billy, a fatty named Mike, a dark skinned boy named Benjamin, and an Asian boy named Shang.

for the girls, there was a cute Blondie named Kate, A petite Brunette name Ana, a stoic girl name Laura, a shy looking girls named Isabella and a glasses girl named Mia.

"Okay everybody, we'll be reaching our destination in thirty minutes or so."

At that moment, their beautiful red haired Teacher named Mrs Rita said.

she had a stern look on her face, but the students were aware of her gentle nature, she however, was not very nice when angry.

"Woah, that's crazy." Samuel who was sitting next to Jacob exclaimed prompting Jacob to glance at him.

He was currently reading some novel on his phone.

"Don't you ever get tired of those? It's the same trope each time."

Jacob asked while rolling his eyes at his friend's behavior.

"Hey, just like how you never get tired of watching MMA fights and boxing matches is the same way I don't get tired of reading novels." Samuel countered.

"Alright, fair poi-" Before Jacob could finish, he was interrupted by some very loud chewing.

"Mike do you mind?" He asked vaguely annoyed.

"Sorry." The fat boy apologized and immediately went back to eating.

"Also, didn't you already have some snacks before?" The Blondie Kate who was a little bit in front turned and asked.

"I'm still hungry." Mike shrugged and everyone just shook their heads.

"We've been driving for a while. Hopefully the place won't be too crowded." The small boy Billy said with some worry.

"Don't worry about it, I'm sure the school will have something like passes for us." Mia said as she pushed up her glasses.

"Hey, you guys shouldn't be talking too much." Mrs Rita turned to look at them and reprimanded and they immediately turned quiet.

Jacob leaned his head on his hand and was about to fall asleep when all of a sudden.

RUMBLE

A strong tremor ran through the ground and startled everybody.

It was so unexpected that the bus driver lost control and the Bus span out on the road. Luckily they were alone on the road, otherwise someone would have most likely ran into them.

"An earthquake!?" Kate exclaimed in shock.

The abrupt change caused most of the people in the bus to panic.

"Everyone stay calm and stay in your seats! It's going to pass." Mrs Rita despite being surprised immediately raised her voice and everyone quietened.

With fear in their hearts, they waited and the earthquake finally subsided after a minute, causing everyone to heave a sigh of relief.

"That's odd, I thought this part of America didn't experience earthquakes." Billy said in confusion as they all say back down.

"Peter, take us back." Mrs Rita said to the dark skinned Bus driver.

"Alright." He nodded and restarted the Bus before it started moving again. This drew a wave of protest from the students but Mrs Rita shut them all up.

Jacob, albeit surprised, didn't think too much about the earthquake and was just annoyed by the wasted journey.

'Whatever.' He thought and was about to close his eyes to sleep again, but just before he did, something caught his eyes.

There was a flicker of light some distance away from the Bus just off the road.

He frowned and thought his eyes were playing tricks on him, but even when he blinked hard, the light remained.

"What is that?" He muttered.

RIP

Just then, the sound of something being torn reverberated throughout and everyone heard it.

Jacob's face paled when he saw that the flicker of light suddenly expanded like some sort of rift.

"What the!?" He exclaimed in shock and everyone looked his way, and then they also noticed the rift in space.

Then, Jacob saw something that caused his pupils to constrict.

A barbed, spiky limb slowly emerged from the rift.

And then another, and then more limbs emerged before the body of a massive spider stepped through.

Chills went down Jacob's spine.

'That thing's at least ten meters tall! It's the size of a small house!' He shouted inwardly as cold fear gripped his heart.

At this point, the people on the bus were panicking and even Mrs Rita lost her composure as fear covered her face.

Even though by now, the bus was some distance away from the spider, the huge thing turned its head towards the bus and its multiple eyes locked onto them. And in just a moment, it started chasing.

"Shit! Peter drive!" Mrs Rita screamed at the bus driver who didn't even think twice and stepped on the accelerator.

The bus's engine revved before the vehicle shot forward.

The tires screeched as the bus immediately shot forward.

However.

"It's getting closer!" Samuel exclaimed in terror as the spider was still gaining on them, and fast.

More panic spread through the bus and Jacob could feel his heart pounding against his rib cage.

Thoughts shot through his mind as he tried finding a way out of this situation, but he arrived at a scary conclusion.

There was no way out of this.

In just a few short seconds, the spider was already right behind the bus.

Everyone screamed when it raised one of its sharp legs and thrusted it towards the back of the bus.

It moved with some much speed that all they saw was a blur.

But just before the leg hit the bus, a bronze light covered the entirety of the bus.

The limb hit the bus, but other than a small dent, there wasn't any damage.

This caused some confusion on the bus, and even the spider was stunned for a moment.

Everyone looked around only to see Billy who was extremely pale with bronze light coming from his hands and go into the bus.

"Billy you..." Shang said as the small boy collapsed and the bronze Light dissipated.

Seeing this, the spider immediately went in for another attack and fear returned to those on the bus. However, just before the spider could strike, another rift appeared between it and the bus.

Due to its momentum, the spider had no chance to dodge and in a moment, it went through the rift which proceeded to close itself.

There was a deafening silence on the bus as everyone stared at where the spider was previously.

It was almost like a dream. If not for the dent in the bus and the unconscious Billy, they would have thought this wasn't real.

'What on Earth just happened.' Was the question that went through everyone's minds at the moment.
