The world is darker than our shadows. That is what everyone assumes until they experience it themselves. This experience makes you doubt your sanity. Some years ago, the discovery of energy crystals was made. They were said to be stones carrying immense energies the world had never seen before. The crystals were later on improved and utilized to improve work both industrially and domestically. They were used to power hospitals where children were born. Children born under this light began to evolve with extraordinary powers. Throughout the years most generations without the powers perished and the planet was now run by the hierarchy of strength in power. The appearance of these crystals got the attention of other creatures around the world and the safety of the world was no longer assured. Those who weren't born in hospitals powered by these stones were left powerless to be feasted upon by society. The corrupt system must be put in check but who knew it was far worse than that? Abel was one of them. He was an orphan left to fend for himself in this world ruled by those with iron hands. Abel could have stayed at the bottom of the food chain forever but he couldn't take it any more the embarrassment had to stop for good. ------- "The world is a tragedy for one and a blessing to the other, that's why I have to get stronger and protect those who can't stand on their own", Abel said to himself as he stared at the rectangular screen in front of his eyes. Abel had his hands curled up in a fist while panting uncontrollably. He was all battered up and didn't seem to be in a good condition. Beads of sweat were gliding down his face like snakes. He used the tip of the sleeve of the black yukata he was wearing to clean the sweat of his face. He tightened his fists and readied his body for an attack.

On the other side of the room was an old man. He was clad in a red yukata which made him a bit imposing. Even though Abel had most of his body covered in bruises, this man stood with his arms folded while looking unscathed by the fight he was involved in. His calmness was evident since he hadn't taken any rash decision.

The location of the ongoing battle was inside the family mansion of the Clarkes. A training hall of the highest quality and was large enough to contain 100 people. It's size was an abnormal one for a family assert like this to have. Most of the damage to the room throughout the training was repaired once the activity had been completed.

"Let's go again", the masculine old man voiced out. He positioned his hand midair and pushed his finger back and forth in a rhythmic manner, ushering Abel to attack him. His other hand was firmly placed at his back while the latter proceeded with the back and forth action.

Abel clenched his fist and begun running towards the man. He had fallen victim to the power of this great person and wasn't ready to make any kind of bad moves. The battle had so far been the exchange of unstoppable fists from both parties but with each hit that Abel had taken the winner was becoming much more evident.

"Just a couple of punches and my hands are already throbbing like this! Is that man even old?", he asked with a narrowed eyebrow.

Swish!

Within an instant a massive punch was sent flying towards the old man's face. The old man also unleashed his fist in an attempt to block the incoming attack. As the two flesh coated bones collided, Abel was blown away a few feet away from his original position. He gritted his teeth in pain since the sheer force behind the old man's fist had made his hand numb.

He hadn't expected the old man to be this strong. Wasn't he suppose to be a normal family butler?

Swish!

The message had done well to knock him out of the trance he was in. The oldman was no longer at his original position, he had stayed at that position since the beginning of the battle. Abel tilted his head to the side only to notice the man few feet away from hitting him in the nuts. "Oh crap, how did he get here?!", he asked while trying a valuable way to evade the man's attacks.

The oldman had decided not to use his magicka since he was told his opponent lacked one but still the kind of strength he was flexing was something that could never go unnoticed. Abel had survived long enough due to his survival instincts. He tried rolling to the side when the man had tried to soccer kick his jaw. The dodge was a successful one since his head was able to escape the attack but the shin of his left leg got in the way and received all the damage the man could provide with the kick.

Abel tumbled over and held the affected area in an instant. The pain was unbearable but it disappeared quickly as it had appeared when Full recovery was activated by the system. Abel continued to wail in pain even though his wounds had already healed. The old man upon seeing this decided to give him a hand. Abel had already calculated and predicted this in his head.

Boom!

Before the man could yank him up from the ground he had hit him at the side of his waist. The attack was strong enough to make him stumble but he didn't fall. He stood while holding the area Abel had kicked and stared at him with an aloof look.

"Nice trickery, young master Abel", he proclaimed with an astonished look on his face. He knew he had had the poor boy cornered which made him turn to such desperate measures. Such excuses weren't needed in the face of death and had wanted this training to be of importance to the boy.

Boom!

The sound sent shockwaves throughout the whole place. The old man lifted his hand and it was covered in blood. The blood wasn't his though, it was that of Abel who he had slammed on the thick metal floor of the arena. He was mindful enough not to apply much force so Abel's head was still intact.

The metallic taste of blood was felt in his mouth as Abel begun coughing drops of blood onto the floor. Some of the red liquid were coming out if his nose in bits.

"I can feel that already, all you have to do is heal me up!", he screamed to himself in frustration.

"Huh, how did my stamina deteriorate that fast?", He asked in shock while trying to concentrate on the battle at hand.

[The system consumes your stamina each time a skill is used. The intensity of the damage the User's body obtain will tell the amount of energy needed for Full recovery to be activated.]

"What happens when my stamina is fully depleted?.... Hmmm, I guess there is only one way to find out".

Dragging his body up, Abel was ready for another round and this time he had expected to last much longer. He readied his fist while dashing towards the old man. The old man was fascinated by Abel's stamina since he knew he had no healing abilities. He also readied himself to be on the defense.

Tap! Tap!

Footsteps were heard when Abel was a few feet away from his opponent. He threw his fist in an aggressive but unskilled manner with the sole aim of causing damage. To his surprise, the old man skillfully swirled his body around, deflecting the fist away with little ease. He stomp his feet on the floor when he had come to a halt and swung his right hand. The attack was aimed for Abel's head which he had no intentions of protecting since his body was off balance at the moment.

Boom!

Abel could feel his vision blurring for some minutes before he had hit the floor with a thud. He had once again under estimated the old man and was suffering from the repercussions. Going in for an attack like that against a skilled fighter was insane and he had proved it with the red liquid coming out of his ears at the moment.

He gasped in pain when the message had appeared. The rate at which his injuries were healing had dropped visibly. Pain was supposed to be felt but this long was abnormal for him. Ever since he had been blessing with the system, pain was something that could be felt emotionally but never physically. This kind of unforseen circumstances helped one to improve but such an instance at this moment was uncalled for.

"What happens when Apathy reaches 100%?", he asked again in fear while trying to imagine what was going to happen next.

"Get up, young master. If this should have been the battlefield where mercy can't be obtained, would you have fumbled like this?", the old man pointed out with urgency in his words.

Abel had an annoyed look on his when the words had exited the man's mouth. This man was asking more than his tiny malnourished muscles could peform. He was slowing hitting his limit but this was his first meeting with this man and he had to leave a mark.

He slowly lifted himself from floor. Eyes were locked on the old man since he could perform a sneak attack at any point in time.

True by his actions, the man had swiftly moved to the side while landing an aggressive kick to his ribs.

Abel rolled across the metal floor with a horrific look on his face. He was staring at something that had appeared in front of his line of sight.
