A horn honked, and she heard voices, and then the car in front of her drove away, and she saw the sedan behind do a u turn and sedately drive back the way it had come. There was a blue Audi down the road, and it was the source of the horn. It drew up closer, and she saw Aaron get out.
He called to her through the broken window, and she released the lock, fighting against her seatbelt to get out. “I can’t-” she gasped. “I am stuck.”
“It is okay,” he caught her, pushing her back into the seat and releasing the catch, before easing her out of the car. “You are okay, Miranda. It is okay. I scared them off.”
“F-k,” she cursed her knees giving way, and he lowered her to the sidewalk. “F-k.”
“Is everything alright?” Someone called from the other side of the fence of the nearest house.
“Can you call the police?” Aaron replied to them. “My friend’s car was attacked.”
“Sure.”
