Chapter 6

Jeremy looks at his watch and sighs. There’s no way this meeting will be over any time soon. “Well, I’m running a little bit late…”

Blake laughs. “What else is new? You said five.”

“I’ll try,” Jeremy says. “We have a lot to do for the next quarter. You know how it is.”

“Hmm.” Blake falls silent, and Jeremy can’t decide if he’s mad at him or at the situation. Before he can ask, Blake says, “I’m home now.”

“Already? Why?”

“I want you to come home, too,” Blake says, as if that answers his question.

Jeremy starts, “I can’t—”

“You said you’d leave early,” Blake reminds him. “If you come home now, maybe we can spend some time together. Alone.”

“Blake,” Jeremy tries.

In his ear, Blake purrs, “This bed is so damn lonely.”
