Convincing Evernight

"Who are you?"

Goddammit, did I get stupid or was I overconfident? Oh well I guess what's done is done, but boy I didn't expect her to pull me into what I expect is Tenebrous Heaven, her divine kingdom. At most I expected some kind of indirect communication. Well this is good for communication since I can make my case face to face with her, but in terms of safety I am pretty much screwed. Honestly I should have customized my gloves to have the powers of all 3 Lord of Mysteries Pathways instead of that pill, maybe that way I would have had a chance to escape if things went wrong. Anyway there's no use crying over spilt milk. Now how should I go about this? While I am thinking all of this not even 1 second has passed since she asked her question.

"My name is Maximilian Hendrix and I am a Sequence 5 Beyonder of Marauder Pathway. It's an honor to personally meet you. I wanted to discuss with you about a matter of great significance." I reply to her honestly.

"Maximilian Hendrix for what purpose have you contacted me directly in such a manner? I hope you have a good explanation for that."

"Alright, I will just say my business directly then. I want to become the new Lord of the Mysteries. And for that, I want to form a connection with Sefirah Castle to accommodate it." I just tell her directly. Being honest in this situation would be better in my opinion rather than hatching some scheme here. After all she is not an enemy of mine yet, so there's no need to make her one rather she would make a good ally.

After hearing my response she becomes silent for a bit, she is probably surprised after all I am not corrupted by any Outer Deities. I don't completely understand how this works but I really lucked out when I made my 3rd wish to Mr A.

"How do you know about that?" After some time she asks that in a wary voice. "Are you one of 'Them'?"

"Goddess you sure know how to joke. If I really was one of 'Them', we wouldn't be having this conversation right now." I just shake my head at this.

"But how else would you know about such information and not get corrupted by it immediately?" She asks me. "And why should I trust you?"

"I have immunity to 'Their' corruption and I will not lose my humanity even after becoming a God. It's something special about me, that's why I am asking you to become my ally in becoming Lord of the Mysteries. After all the other choices for the position are much worse than me." I explain to her. "I don't think you will like Amon to become Lord of the Mysteries. There is Zaratul too but I don't think you would have imprisoned 'Him' if you thought he was a good choice for that position. And finally Klein is too weak, also even if he reaches that level it will be hard to say if he will be himself at the end. After all he is part of the resurrection plan of Celestial Worthy of Heaven and Earth."

"Those are all good points yes but you haven't answered my question. Why should I, Evernight Goddess, trust you? In my view, you are a suspicious one knowing about all these things that no mortal should know about. Who is to say that you won't betray me, when you become Lord of the Mysteries?" She asks me pointedly.

"Well I won't say that you can absolutely trust me because that's not something I can explain. But if you don't hinder me in my endeavors and ally with me, I would help you in getting Death's Uniqueness and finding River of Eternal Darkness in return." I tell her. "Also this way, Klein won't have to suffer all those hardships you have planned just for him to reach that level, when I can reach that level much more easily."

"I think you are just avoiding my question but alright. If you can convince Klein to hand over the Sefirah Castle himself and not force him then I will support you. But if not then forget it." Then she just sighs. "Is that all you wanted to discuss or is there something else as well?"

That went well, well as good as it can go in my opinion. Now time to get out of here. This place isn't good for my heart.

"That is all for now, Goddess." I just nod and bow.

"Then you can go. If you want to contact me, then just recite my honorific name again."

And then she just ejects me from there, and now I am back at the church sitting where I was before with cold sweat all over my body. Honestly that went much better, using Author's powers on a Goddess was bold but it paid off. Of course I used it very subtly, and since my Glasses have no Beyonder characteristics nobody will know the source of this. Well at least this bought me some time, in case the Goddess notices.

Now it's time maintain a very noble image for when Miss Audrey comes. Phew today has been very exhausting. Eva is alright as well, just checked. She was the other reason I was panicked because I couldn't see her when Evernight pulled me into her divine kingdom.

After the bishop finishes his prayer, I get up in an elegant noble-like manner and then drop 50 pound notes in the donation box. The bishop just looks at me and nods, I just nod in return.

And then turn around walk towards the exit very elegantly. On the way, a young girl 'coincidentally' trips in my way and I then go forward to stabilize her so she does not fall down.

"Are you alright, my lady?" I ask her. Honestly she is one of the most beautiful females I have ever seen but I forcibly keep my elegance through using the powers of Visionary Pathway.

"Yes thank you, I am fine sir." She tells me. "Forgive me if I am being presumptuous but may I know your name sir?"

"My name is Maximilian Hendrix. Now please pardon me, but I have some important matters that I have to deal with so I have to go." I tell her and she nods. Then I just walk outside the church.

That was my first encounter with Audrey Hall.
