Chapter 22

Of course A18 next to him could tell that the boy wasn't even a warrior. But Samuell could tell he wasn't going to be simple after all what the protagonist is?

Soon the expected result happened.

''Hey, why are you touching me? Fuck off!'' Surprisingly the sweet shy Natalie was vicious when the two large men walked on either side of her and began guiding her towards the wall.

Her cries also attracted the young boy's attention. He flipped his head towards her and immediately called out to prevent the men.

''Hey you two stop it!'' The young man tried to march aggressively but his shorter build made the effect minimal.

''Did you two hear me?'' He repeated.

''Oi did you hear that?''

''Haha, a little runt trying to interfere with our business. Deal with him while I talk to this pretty little lady.''

A brief conversation erupted between the gangsters as the slightly smaller one split off to deal with the young man. But the dissatisfaction was obvious on his face.

''You piece of shit interrupting our plans, come here and die for me'' With a simple sentence he charged forward violently.

Although far from the level of a Warrior, clearly this man wasn't weak.

But surprisingly despite this fierce look the young man showed no fear, he stepped forward and tilted his head, the first flying right past his ear.

His weak looking hands skimmed across the underside of his arms and with a flash of silver a small dagger pierced through the gangster's stomach.

''You little bastard actually stabbed me?'' The gangster gave a roar of anger and swung his heavy fist back at the young man.

Unfortunately for the young man he wasn't able to dodge at this close of a range, and the fist of equal size of his face smashed heavily against his nose. Blood immediately flooded down his face but luckily that seemed to take all of the Gangsters energy.

He fell to the ground clutching his stomach as blood fell through his fingers.

Naturally this commotion drew the attention of the Gangsters' partner who immediately ran over.

''Hey don't scare me are you ok?''

''You dare to stab one of us? Die!'' With a simple few sentences another heavy fist flew towards the young man's already bleeding face.

A look of determination flashed on the young man's face as a small golden orb flicked between his fingers as they began to apply pressure on the orb.

But just as a small crack began to form on the orb a figure flashed and a single finger placed itself upon the large fist.

The young man and Natalie both turned their eyes upon this black robed newcomer.

Naturally it is A18 exuding the powerful pressure of a warrior.

''No one can hurt the young masters guests.'' He said in a deep monotone voice as his hand swiped lightly before returning to his side.

Before anyone could react a small red line formed on the gangster's head before spreading out across his entire neck.

Slowly his head rolled backwards before tumbling to the floor and landing at pale faced Natalie's feet.

However A18 paid no attention to this and walked up to Natalie and gestured politely towards Samuels booth.

''Miss Natalie my young master is still waiting.''

Samuel watched this play while lightly sipping his wine before smiling charmingly at Natalie.

Naturally Samuel wasn't interested in Natalie, but her connection with the protagonist had him interested in Natalie. Anyone who can get involved with a protagonist naturally isn't normal.

The night continued on but Natalie was clearly not as calm as she was before. The scene of the gangster's death left a shadow in her heart. Of course there were no repercussions to a Warrior killing him.

It's not like it was uncalled for.

But it still terrified Natalie, after all she is an ordinary person where did she see such a horrible situation?

However at the same time there was a look of worship in her eyes when she looked at Samuels face. After all this is a man that can order a Warrior and he is still so nonchalant naturally she worshipped him a little.

This is the reality of this planet. Although Warriors mainly show their importance when they are fighting on the Eternal Battlefield, the resources they bring back are enough to make every Mortal drool.

Many resources provide the most valuable thing of all to Mortals, time. Almost all of the items brought back from the Eternal Battlefield can provide Mortals with an increased lifespan.

Take a Spiritual Crystal as an example, each crystal can provide a mortal with a minimum of 5 years added onto their lifespan.

If a mortal somehow gets their hands on a Spiritual fruit or a useful herb it could increase even more years!

Even those so-called 'cheap' herbs that Samuels Dogs of War collect easily on their expeditions can strengthen a mortal's body which indirectly increases their lifespan.

And another crucial factor contributes to the importance of Warriors on a World. That is preventing enemy races from taking over Blue Star.

Although most battles take place in the Eternal Battlefield, some races will rage race war! There are generally little benefits to a race war; it can allow a race to occupy a safer planet than in the Eternal Battlefield however.

On the other hand race wars are often held when Powerful Artifacts are found or rare materials are found in the Eternal Battlefield and the races compete over them.

The last invasion of Blue star occurred when a Rank 9 Powerhouse found a small belt with the storage space the size of a continent. More shockingly, human beings could actually live inside of it!

This naturally sparked a large bloodbath and although Earth won in the end they paid the life of a Rank 9 Powerhouse and multiple Rank 8s!

But this is just purely based on news that Samuel picked up when he was younger or from the books he read.

And this battle was over a millenia ago.

However even if they are uncommon, they still happen so the government works hard to keep the Warriors on it's side. It isn't enough to use overwhelming force if they want to control an entire planet.

This leads to the influence of Warriors to increase exponentially, and even the tolerance for killing is high. Of course they can't just kill indiscriminately, there generally has to be a provocation beforehand.

All of these reasons add up to why Warriors are the most respected people on the Planet, of course if you add on the role of Refiner onto that then you have a whole new story.
