chapter 13 - when the sun goes down

It had been raining all morning , since last night to be more precise. We had gossiped the whole night about how the baby would look like. Reema had always wanted a daughter, one like her , kind , tender, who could love, and certainly , the way she loved , persued her loved ones, she really was one of a kind.

The next morning I went out to buy some groceries, needy home materials and found that the nearby shops were closed for some specific reason which I thought was probably because it had been pouring every now and then so the shop owners might not have the courage to open their business centers.

I walked for another hour and and a half and finally found all the stuff that I was looking for.

It stared raining when I was on my way back home. I thanked my conscience which had led me to bring the umbrella with me on my way.

I went back to find the house not like I left had it. The living room was a heap. Materials were broken, it was a mess to be very brief. The flower vase on the center table was shattered into pieces , clothes were scattered all around the place, and I saw an unfamiliar black leather bag on the table.I finally reached upstairs and found Reema in her bedroom.

The bedsheets were soaked wet, partially from the rain water that had seeped in through the windows that Reema always liked open, and partially from the tears that had rolled out of her eyes. I figured from the stains on her sheets that she had probably fallen asleep crying. 'Maybe I shouldn't wake her up', I thought to myself.

After taking in my surroundings,I shut the windows which stopped the rain drops from splashing into Reema's room.I found a blanket on the couch, which had been freshly folded in the morning, and covered Reema's body which had grown cold from the breeze.

Apparently there had been a power cut, because all electrical appliances seemed dead. I fumbled through the house and found some candles, lit one in Reema's room and a few in the now chaotic living room.

I started to pick up the broken ornaments, making my way through the pieces lying around. I had tied up almost everything when suddenly my eyes fell upon the black bag. Curiosity had been nagging me as to why the house was in such a condition and seeing the unfamiliar object, only aroused my suspicions of something being wrong.I couldn't resist myself and finally opened it up.

What was inside, did not sound like good news to me
