Seeing Muria's tail strike that seemed poised to split it in two, the Pale Blood Devourer swung its tail, its nine tails covered in small bone plates bracing for Muria's tail.
The collision of one tail against nine was unsurprising; Muria's tail, wrapped in a layer of legendary armor, effortlessly snapped the Pale Blood Devourer's nine tails.
When Muria had forged its armor, it had even taken care of its wings, so naturally, it would not overlook its tail.
Legendary metal, a material coveted even by deities, naturally possessed some incredible properties. It was something the bone plates on the nine-tailed evil dragon, hard as steel, could not compare with. There was simply no comparison.
The Pale Blood Devourer, having faced countless battles, had never encountered an enemy capable of instantly severing its nine tails. Thus, even the demented evil dragon paused for a moment upon realizing it had lost its tails.
That pause was all Muria needed to seize the opportunity, moving in close to use its melee combat skills, honed against its kin, to brutally overpower the tailless evil dragon.
This could hardly be called a battle; the disparity in combat power was too great, a one-sided slaughter. After all, aside from realm, aspects such as lineage, equipment, control over power, and combat experience all placed Muria far above the Pale Blood Devourer.
"Ptui!" Hot dark-red blood spurted out, scorching the grass below to ash as if doused in strong acid. Muria brutally tore off one of the evil dragon's forelimbs, an act of extreme cruelty.
The close combat between Muria and the Pale Blood Devourer was exceedingly brief, just a few exchanges, and the evil dragon, notorious for its killings, had its remaining three claws torn off by Muria, reduced to a mere stick and thrown to the ground.
"How many lives have you taken to reach your current state? Yun Yu." Muria stepped on the head of the evil dragon, which still tried to bite at him despite having lost all four claws.
No wonder Muria posed such a question, for behind the evil dragon, forty now faintly visible souls, densely packed with faces of various creatures formed from the resentment of countless slaughtered beings, with human faces being just a part of them.
But the frenzied Pale Blood Devourer, obviously, would not answer Muria's question, having lost its sanity. However, as its blood continued to drain and under Muria's suppression, its berserk state began to dissipate.
A hint of clarity returned to the eyes of the Pale Blood Devourer, but upon realizing its predicament, it hesitated not; a transparent flame ignited from its body, enveloping its broken form.
Muria had stepped back before the eerie flame ignited, sensing a threat from directly touching the flame.
Demon talent, Soul Blaze!
"A desperate move, huh!" Muria was not surprised by this development, having been informed about it by the Dawn Church beforehand.
"Using souls as fuel to enhance one's power." Muria watched with a detached gaze as the wounds on the Pale Blood Devourer began to visibly heal quickly, its flesh, bones, and tissues regrowing, "Such actions, you truly are beyond redemption."
This aberrant tooth dragon wasn't burning its soul but those of the ordinary beings it had slaughtered and absorbed.
Muria, his aura thick with killing intent honed in the abyssal training grounds, stared at the now lucid Pale Blood Devourer, regenerating its broken body by burning souls.
Its tail, limbs, and even the dragon horn broken by Muria were regrowing at an astonishing rate, its power climbing.
"Having killed so many, do you not feel a shred of compassion or guilt? Yun Yu." Muria's detached gaze fixed on the evil dragon, now regrowing its four limbs and nine tails.
"It's been a long time since anyone called me Yun Yu; they all refer to me as the Pale Blood Devourer, an interesting title." The evil dragon sneered at Muria's words, "As for sympathy and compassion, those are luxuries not meant for weaklings like me but for beings like you."
Despite having lost control over its body, the evil dragon clearly remembered the overwhelming defeat it faced, which led it to immediately use its ultimate survival ability upon regaining control.
"Weaklings?" Muria's expression grew even more indifferent, "So, you think your killings are justified in your pursuit of power?"
"The law of the jungle." The fully recovered nine-tailed evil dragon flexed its claws and tail, "Without killing, I wouldn't have survived to this point. To live, I had to kill."
"That's no excuse for your massacres." Muria clenched his fist, "If you sought to grow stronger by consuming souls, you could've targeted evil races or marauding bandits. This world is full of beings deserving death."
"But," the evil dragon smirked at Muria's words, "humans are the easiest to kill. What you suggest is too troublesome. Following your advice would've taken too long to achieve my current power."
"Slaughtering humans for power may be the quickest path but it also shortens your lifespan." Hearing the evil dragon's response, Muria lost all hope, his resolve to kill the Pale Blood Devourer solidified.
"Boom!" Muria stepped on the ground, his majestic form breaking the sound barrier in an instant, white mist rising from the friction between his body and the air.
Without mercy, twenty-four dazzling golden rings of soul intent fortified Muria's fist, "Boom!" A loud explosion sounded as he punched the aberrant tooth dragon's skull.
Boom! Boom! Boom... After a punch sent bone shards flying, Muria didn't stop his assault, his punches, accelerated by the wind soul intent, landed faster than the Pale Blood Devourer could evade...
"Crack!" The tooth dragon, its bones aglow with red light but now headless, swayed and collapsed.
To its death, the aberrant tooth dragon never imagined that even after deploying its ultimate ability to fully regenerate and significantly boost its power, it would still be pulverized without a chance to fight back.
Yun Yu's end envisioned in a second scenario.
After merging with demon blood due to conflicting desires for slaughter and his true nature, his personality split; one remained the purely human Yun Yu, and the other, a bloodthirsty evil dragon personality. The Yun Yu personality remained suppressed, helplessly watching "himself" commit atrocities, unable to intervene until Muria executed him...
