Chapter 3

Both Summer and I whip our heads towards the door Sum, most probably ready to kill whoever decided to interrupt our girl gossip after almost 5 years, and me, wondering who slammed the door so hard.

Kyle Harrison stares at us with a look in his eyes that neither of us can figure out.

"You?" Kyle asks, not bearing a disbelieved expression. "You are his personal assistant?"

"Yes," I say, keeping a straight face.

Sum looks back and forth between Kyle and me, trying to figure out what in hell was going on between us. Meanwhile, Kyle and I were having a major stare-down waiting for one of us to give up.

"Ah, I was just heading back to work, Mr. Harrison," Sum says suddenly, making Kyle break his eye-contact with me. I give a mental 'whoop' and look at Sum to see her standing up and reaching for the empty coffee cups. I don't even remember when we finished it.

"Nice seeing you again, Andy. We have to catch up again. See you at lunch," she says to me and heads out the door, leaving me and Kyle alone.

"I suppose you are not going to say anything to me. I know you give the silent treatment when you are angry. Or at least, you used to do that. Do you still do it?" Kyle says, crossing over and making himself comfortable on the sofa Sum just left empty.

"What do you want?" I ask.

"I came here wanting to see who my best friend's personal assistant was since we are about to meet a lot in future. I wanted to acquaint myself with her. But it seems like I don't have to at all. You and I both know each other quite well," Kyle says, smiling softly at me. I know he doesn't like begging but I also know with the slight moisture in his eyes that he will start begging me if I don't talk to him properly for a while.

I am evil. I will drive him to that stage. He deserves it.

"You met me. Now go," I say, standing up and crossing over to my desk to start sorting through the papers.

"Come on, Andy. Don't be like that," Kyle says, groaning. Standing up, he follows me to my desk and sits down at the chair in front of me.

"I have nothing to say to you," I say, memories flashing through my mind about how he chose Damon over me. We both were best friends as well.

Or so I thought.

"Andy, I am sorry. Believe me, I really am. But there are things you don't know about. And I know you think I chose Damon over you, but that's not true. You both were my best friends," He says.

There starts the pleading.

"Yes. Were. He still is. I am not. Now think why," I say, frustratingly. Looking at him brings all the good memories of our college time and I would've started crying if this guy was not sitting here in front of me.

"Oh geez woman! Listen to me here, alright? I wanted to tell you. Dam-" The door of my office slams open once again.

What the hell is wrong with people? Why is my door getting abused?

Damon stares between Kyle and me with a complex expression on his face. He looks confused for some reason. I have no idea why though.

"Kyle?" Damon asks, with his eyebrow raising in question.

Even if Damon feels as though he has to act like a stranger with me, he shouldn't expect Kyle to act the same.

"Damon. I was just getting acquainted with Ms. Harper here," Kyle says, standing up.

I look at him with most probably what is known as a dumbfounded look on my face. Why in hell is he entertaining Damon's twisted play?

"Oh. Fine, I suppose. If you two have gotten acquainted, I would like you in my office, Kyle. And Ms. Harper, calls Mr. Jibson and asks him to set up a meeting with his boss, Ms. Avery," Damon says, or more like instructed.

Kyle nods and turns to leave. But before that, he slightly nods towards where my phone is. He wants me to check it after Damon is gone.

'Fine. I will entertain him as well.' I think, knowing I would most probably ignore all his texts and leave him on read.

"Okay, Mr. Dolohov," I say, nodding and getting to work.

"Is there anything else?" I ask, wondering why Damon isn't leaving yet.

"Nothing. Send me a list of today's meetings. And yes, Ms. Harper, you are going to accompany me to all of my meetings as well," Damon says, before I can ask him about it.

I nod.

Damon leaves.

I groan, totally frustrated. I am so confused. Damon being my new boss. Me being personal assistant to the guy who is both my ex and the father of my children. Then there is Damon acting like a stranger. Me going along with that. Then, Hunter and my kids call saying they miss me. Then Summer showing up and seeing her after almost 9 years and her working here. Talking about Kevin. Kyle showing up. Summer leaving. Damon bursting in. Kyle acted like a stranger with me in front of him. Kyle asked me to check my phone. Damon acting strange.

Ugh. When did my life become so complicated?

I search for the files where Landon told me would be the contacts of each and every client of Dolohov Industries on my computer.

A list of names and their assistant's contact information popped up as soon as I found the file marked as 'Client Contacts' and clicked on it.

Not half an hour later, I was scheduling Ms. Avery's and Damon's meeting on a call with Mr. Jibson, who requested that we be on a first-name basis.

"How about Saturday, sharp 2 o clock, Gary? Any meetings then?" I ask, needing another cup of coffee before I dive back into work.

I had been multitasking. After sending the already scheduled meeting list for today, thanks to Landon for scheduling them, to Damon, I was busy and busted being on a call with Gary and scheduling the meetings tomorrow and for the rest of the week.

"Andrea?" Gary asks, and my attention snaps back to the phone call I am in.

"Yes yes. Sorry. Got a little absent minded. What did you say?" I asked, leaning back on my chair to rest my shoulders a bit.

"It's alright on Saturday. Ms. Avery is free and there are no meetings on schedule," Gary says and I hear some paper shuffling.

"Okay then. It's final. I am going to schedule it, you do the same," I say as I put the date and mark on the calendar.

"Talk to you later, Andrea. It was nice talking to you."

"Same here, Gary. Bye."

And with that being the last thing said. I dive back into work.
