Sister Greta

Following the guard, they walked past Sister Sue towards an opening in a wall further ahead. Weirdly though, Alaric couldn't help taking one last look at her; he was thoroughly confused by this woman.

Eventually, they arrived before the opening; it was completely dark at first, looking as if nothing was on the other side. When they came close, however, the black void that had previously dominated the opening had disappeared entirely.

Before them was a rich and lush garden composed of trees, bushes, fields, animals, etc. It was almost like a whole ecosystem; even birds were found inside.

Walking on a narrow path Inside, Alaric was baffled; it smelt like a regular forest. There were basically no differences between this garden and a real-life forest.

Even the sky was blue with clouds floating across it; it was extremely impressive.

"How come I can see the sky in here? Isn't this inside a building?"

Hearing this question, the guard turned around and almost burst out laughing.

"Do you even know where we are? We're at Blue Orchid's orphanage! I can't believe lieutenant eight nominated you to take the trial."

"What's so special about it? Isn't it just an orphanage for abandoned orphans?"

Hearing this, the soldier immediately jumped at Alaric, covering his mouth with his hand. Looking around for a few seconds, he retracted his hand.

"Blue Orchid's Orphanage is not an orphanage for regular orphans; you're lucky I was the only one to hear you. If it was any other solider, civilian or human for that matter, they'd want to decapitate you immediately."

"Why is that? I thought it was just a regular orphanage?"

"No, not even close. The creator of blue orchid's orphanage was once one of the 100 Emperors of the world. Before perishing, the creator made blue orchid's orphanage, with the purpose to recruit the most talented orphans in the world and develop them."

"It was said that the creator was once an orphan and made the orphanage to help future descendants in the same situation as him."

"But why would people want to kill me for accidentally disrespecting the orphanage?"

"Because the orphanage is worldwide, currently in the top 100 most powerful forces in the world. It was also said that the creator died saving the entire world, putting down his life to save all others; he's renowned as a hero across the entire world."

Listening to the soldier talk about the creator with such admiration suddenly made him quite nervous.

"I didn't know; I'm sorry."

"It's fine, but I'd advise from casually calling this orphanage a normal orphanage in front of sister Greta. I doubt she'd be as understanding as me..."

Turning away from Alaric, the soldier returned back to walking forward. After a bit of time had passed, maybe about 10 minutes, the casual stroll through the garden had eventually led to a clearing.

In the middle of the woods, there was a huge clearing. In the entrance of the clearing were two pillars with a sign strung between them.

"Training Hall."

Past the entrance, in the middle of the clearing, stood a tall tower about 100 meters high, red and black in color.

"Wow, that's massive!"

Looking up at the tower, Alaric was mesmerized by its humungous height. The design looked similar to Japanese temples back on earth; this one, however, was the biggest one Alaric had ever seen.

It was as if someone from earth had taken two of the biggest Japanese shrines and stacked them on top of each other. It was utterly beautiful.

Looking over at the soldier who had guided him, Alaric noticed even he was shocked. Recovering, the both of them kept walking and neared the entrance of the gigantic building.

The building's entrance was just a hole; there was no door, which revealed the interior of the massive building. It was just one big room.

There was a big statue situated in the middle of the room and two sets of stairs beside it, both spiraling upwards. The stairs had gold railings along the edges, giving the room an even more majestic feeling.

"This is as far as I'm allowed to escort you; it is now up to you whether or not you pass the test. Good luck."

The soldier then left Alaric standing at the room's entrance and started walking back towards the way they had come earlier.

Seeing as the soldier wasn't waiting for a reply, he decided to ignore the soldier.

Seeing as this might be my last chance to use my stat points before the trial, I should probably apply some of them.

I have three stat points to play with... I should save 2 for a critical situation. The best idea, for now, would probably be evening out my stat points; in that case, I'm going to put one in strength.

Closing the status window, feeling ready, Alaric lifted his right leg as he took his first step inside the building.

In the span it takes to take one step, a middle-aged woman appeared before Alaric in the blink of an eye.

The woman wore quite beat-up clothes and looked like she had just run a marathon. Her dark brown hair was messy, and her clothes were in tatters, which led to her alluring body being slightly revealed.

YESSSS! If there was a luck stat, I would deposit all my stat points in it immediately. Calming down, Alaric immediately turned his poker face on and acted like how he looked, twelve.

"Hello, senior, Lieutenant 8 recommended me to take the entrance exam; what happened to you?"

Hearing the voice, the woman turned her head and shifted her attention to the young man. Realizing it was a kid, she was so relieved.

"Young man, hasn't anyone told you it's impolite spying on grownups?"

Turning around, he replied, "Oh, I'm sorry."

FUCK!! Why is she so prude! She won't notice one more peek, right?

Quieting down the voice in his head telling him not to, he quickly pretended to stretch his back as he took a quick glance at the beauty.

As if she had already seen it coming, she was nowhere to be seen when he turned his head to get a quick peek. The next moment, Alaric heard a voice right next to his ear.

"No peeking."

Turning towards where the voice had come from, nothing was there. It was as if the woman had turned into a ghost, not visible to the naked eye.

Calming down, Alaric quickly sat down and didn't move an inch. Earlier, he had believed that since he was a kid, nothing bad could happen to him inside a city. That was why he had taken the risk of peeking.

However, realizing that this woman had the capability to either turn invisible or move faster than Alaric could even comprehend at a moment's notice, he became terrified.

"Alright, are you ready to take the test?"
