Breaking in

Gaby's eyes glowed blue as he chanted a spell which teleported both of them to Farhat's uncle quaters.

"When do you think Lord Hart would return?"

Farhat shrugged.

"Since we don't have any after academia practice today I assume he went for a meeting in sorceror castle only I know not when he returns".

Gaby placed a hand on his chin as he thought through what Farhat had said.

"Her ladyship is gone too...maybe they are truly in a meeting".

"Do you recall the exact location of that history book?"

Farhat nodded and went out the door returning few moments later with some cleaning materials.

As he bit his lips Gaby eyed the buckets, brooms and mobstick he held, one for each of them.

He slammed a hand on his forehead, lowered it as he shook his head.

"I don't smell your uncle anywhere around here, what do u say this is the perfect time to break in"

Farhat gravely watched his friend whose eyes never left his face despite his head being lowered.

"I know a spell to get the cleaning done without costing us much time...it will just cost us some magic energy,I'll teach you.Right now we have to figure out a way to unlock that library.Lord Hart must have put a spell in there to block my teleporting in there,I assume there is a lot of secrets in there we have to see.Gets me the more curious".

Without another word farhat dropped the cleaning materials and motioned for his friend to follow him then he lead them through a dark corridor, then up a flight of spiral dusty stairs.

Gaby tried his best not to choke. The whole place smelt of potions and unpleasant smelling herbs. He figured lord Hart's potion lab must me close by.

The smell made his eyes water and his stomach churn so much he wanted to puke.

Even Sheba's bad smelling potions never smelt this bad.

Gaby felt relieved when they finally arrived in front of an old door.

After turning the knob they both went into a narrow empty room and arrived in front of a larger wooden door.

"This is it?"

Farhat nodded.

Gaby eyed the door for a while then placed his hand on it.

Both his eyes and hand glowed blue.

After reciting a few spells the glow around him disappeared then he gripped the handle with both hands and pulled but the door didn't open.

"Lord Hart is so clever...the door is both locked with the lock here and magic". Gaby grinned sheplishly.

He digged in his bag for a while then fished out a lock picker.

A tin metal with one end slimmer than the other.

"The good news is...I have just the right tool to do that".

Gaby peered in through the key hole then his hands closed over the lock picker.

When he reopened them it had the exact shape of the key hole.

He placed the Lock picker in the key hole, did a few turns with his hand then threw it back into his bag.

Gaby gripped both handles again and pulled and this time the door yielded, the sound of its loud creek resonating in the room.

"How did you learn the lock picking spell?"Farhat asked, his voice tingling with curiosity.

"You dont expect we go for a break-in without knowing a lock picking spell...you ought not rely on only what is thought in class but truth be told I have been practicing this for almost a year now to master it mentally".

"Doesn't it trouble you you are using to much magic in period of energy shortage?no one knows when the next human would be captured or how many would be captured next time...the energy potions given to us in the academy is nothing compared to a human's essence you'll eventually wear out".

Gaby pointed to the shelves of books in front of them, his face ever expressionless.

"This is our priority now Farhat, let's get to work, after here we will pay a visit to the death hole and meet my hell dog friend.First you get that history book...The one you read earlier then we seek some other important information".

Gaby walked towards a more closer book shelf and motioned for Farhat to go towards the one opposite.

"Farhat, use a speed reading spell we were thought in school, that's the only way to cover a lot of books in a short while"Gaby told him via telepathy.

"No thank you i'd prefer conserving my magic at a time like this".Farhat responded as he grabbed a book from the lowest shelf.

"Do you want us to grow grey mustaches here?"

"No". Farhat replied from his end

"Then you have to help us leave here quickly".

"How do we know if someone is coming?"

Gaby grinned.

"My spell will handle that".

"What spell now?"Farhat questioned now eying him through the spaces in the shelves in front of him.

Gaby titled his head farhat's way then their eyes locked.

"Shuuuuuuu!"he said outloud now placing a hand to his lips.

"We have work to do"Gaby finished in a whisper.

Farhat grumbled silently for a while then returned his attention back to the book he held.

Their eyes read through so many books with needless information, reading and replacing them carefully, exactly how they had met them.

"Haven't you found the book yet?I thought you knew where it was kept"

"My uncle changed its location"Farhat responded back via telepathy.

Gaby sighed silently and rubbed on his eyes.

He felt his eyes itch after going through some historical and records book from the first shelf, that he began doubting a successful search.

A glimpse of hope crawled through his features when Farhat raised an arm which held two books in the air.

He dropped the book he was holding and followed Farhat as they both walked towards a table on the farther end of the library.

Farhat threw both books on the table then pointed to the black coloured dusty one.

"There's the history book...this one is a record book".

Gaby's heart soared as he picked up the black coloured book.

Then his gaze settled on Farhat for a while before he flipped open the book cover.

"Beats me Farhat... how did you get in this library the first time to get this book when you don't know a lock picking spell?"Gaby asked after flipping the first page over,he hadn't taken a look at it's content yet for his eyes never left farhat's face.

"The library wasn't locked with one before it was just locked with_just a...just a lock which I picked"he completed in between his breath.

Gaby chucked silently making Farhat quizzled eye dart all over his features.

"What's so funny?"

"Here you are acting all innocent as though you have never broken into somewhere before Farhat...you come acting like holy human priest who is free from vile but in reality aren't you the most tainted?"

Farhat's brows furrowed and in the blink of an eye he had dropped the book he held.

His hand now gripping the collar of Gaby's shirt as he glared into his eyes exposing a set of white sharp fangs.

Insulting a demon by likening him unto human even worst a holy human priest was the worst insult demons hated to hear and Gaby knew, yet he didn't know why he said it but now he regretted doing so.

Fighting now would ruin everything, most especially his hard work to get Farhat bring him here now he wished he hadn't said it,he wished to take it back but he couldn't, Farhat was already in front of him glaring at him like a wounded wild animal ready to devour it's prey.

Gaby gulped and raised both hands defensively.

"Farhat...please am sor_"

Gaby didn't complete his statement as the sound from outside the door cut him off midway.

Someone outside had made impact with an object, probably one of the bucket Farhat had brought for cleaning and it had fallen off balance and was rolling on the marble floor.

With their environment quiet as a tomb and both being demons they could hear every movement, every noise in the vicinity and they had heard the sound, someone was in.

They both held their breath and froze in that position with their eyes fixed on the closed door of the library.
