Monster company

The appointments went on for ll 10 but it seemed like years because it was excruciatingly painful.

I was cautioned by Dr Baren not to tell my parents about anything that went on the testing lab. However, he too knew that it was only a matter of time before I snitched. He needed a solution. He also knew that was he was doing was wrong, it was punishable by law. This should not have been a concern because he made the laws, infact, he was the law. Still, he was such a people pleaser that he cared way too much about what my parents would think of him. He did not want them to like him any less than they already did, so he concocted a plan.

Dr Baren knew well that he had my parents' trust and that they would accept anything that he asked. He just needed to do it well enough. But that could not fail him, he was crafty and cunning.

He planned it all out very well. I still remember what he said to date.

"The girl really making progress, but this whole constant change in environment is kind of slowing down the process. If it's in your will, let me take her under my care, you know... for the goodness of the process. And, no need to worry, you can come and visit any time you wish.😁" He ended with a crafty grin.

My parents blindly accepted. Infact, they trusted him so much that without any questions, they sped up the legal shit for him. When it was all done, he looked at me at smirked. In his smirk, I saw him say;

You are mine now. I have you right in my hands.

I was scared. I ran out of the court room screaming in terror. Sadly, my screams were mistaken for unbottled-up joy.

In my so called new room, I sat in horror, looking straight at the wall and hardly blinking. The look on my face spelled out...

H.E.L.P.M.E...

Who could blame me! I was now the legal daughter of a monster, and...it was my FATHER. I went numb for a while.

Time flew by. I kind of got used to my new situation until...things changed.

Now that Dr Baren was responsible for everything that went on in my life, he had all rights to do whatever he wanted to me. He used that to his advantage. For starters, he made my machine torture even worse.  Another thing he did was to make me pretend that I was living in some kind of fairy tale whenever people came around, most especially the inspector and my parents. Therefore, these people did not come around much since they sensed no potential dangers. This made me miserable.

I was isolated from the general public. I saw only Suzie and Dr Baren...oh, plus Dorris, the receptionist. This was until Dr Baren made the call. At first, he made secretive calls, for about two weeks. But I was very cunning so one time, I eves dropped. I only heard the last words he said.

"Yes. Well, thank you very much, Gerald. I expect one hundred monsters by the end of next week....good bye then." Then he hung up. I almost got caught, but I got away swiftly.

So, for about a week I was left wondering. Why the fuck did Dr Baren want "one hundred" monsters? Did it have anything to do with me, and if so, why so many? Infact, I did not even know why this was bothering me so much. After a while, I just stopped caring and let time take it's course.

The week flew by and so did the next. The allocated time finally came. I woke quite late that day. I did my early morning routine and then walked down to the lab where I was being summoned.

In the lab was Dr Baren and a swarthy old man. His hair was very white, or grey... whatever. On seeing me, Dr Baren "smiled". The other man smiled. When I got to them, I was formally introduced to the old man and him to me. "Gerald" was his name. He and Dr Baren had gone to school together in their days, and they were best friends. He was now in charge of caring for the monsters and make sure that they were well, especially the homeless ones.

Gerald seemed delighted to see me. He was really nice and unlike Dr Baren, his nice was for real. He knew nothing about Dr Baren's funny business. He also did not know why Dr Baren needed so many monsters, but since they were...like, uhm... friends, he trusted his old buddy. He knew the monsters would not be used for any funny or selfish business.

He left after a while. He left the building veeerrry slowly, like any old guy would. His exit got boring after a while so I stopped observing him. However, Suzie kept peeping at him through the window until he got into his car and drove away. He left the monsters locked in some room in the building.

"He's gone doctor." Suzie reported.

"Good! We can start now." Dr answered.

Start!... start what!!! I  wondered for a while, but not for long.

Suzie moved out and came back after a while with some big monster. I was tied to a chair. Then he monster was put on some kind of platform. For three long hours, I was forced to observe its ways and actions. Worse enough, Dr Baren left me there with it and went to do who knows what! Dr came back after a while and started taking notes on how the monster acted and how I reacted. I really did not react much. I was tied to a god damn chair for crying out loud. Three hours later, I was untied and told to go to my room.

From that moment on, the monster study became a regular thing. I was introduced to monsters of all shapes, sizes and species. I befriended some of them and the others just tagged along. Most of the monsters did not have any human communication skills. Still, I still loved them being around and listening to them as they bellowed and grunted. Watching them sleep was also very cute, especially the young ones.

Other monsters attacked me at mere sight, however, we worked through this until it was no more. All in all, I loved all the monsters and I remember most of them to this day. The one i remember most is Keejay... but we'll discuss more about him later.🤭🤭🤭
