Looking in the eyes of the man that once seem to bore excitement now nothing but distrust and dissatisfaction. Showing his true self after being together in my teens. Puppy love or just thought he was sarcastic with a sense of dry humor. I wouldn't go with these types of guys, but somehow maybe it was his look that attracted me to him. Or that I was desperate to get into a relationship, just so I was taken and not label as being single to my friends. But that gave him the opportunity to approach me and try to introduced himself to me.
His friend called him Jay. I didn't think that name sounded innocent but more a bad boy image. He could care less what others thought of him. I can see it in his eyes that his mission was to get my name and number. I played it off like I was not interested in him. I told my sister to go inside to sing some kareoke since we were at a small hut house on a busy Main Street. And was feeling a little cold and wanted to keep warm. Of course to also try to get away from Jay.
But the man refused and follow us inside, trying to strike up a conversation again. I try to give him the cold shoulder but it did not seem to work on Jay. He probably sense my hestitation to try to get away from him so he tried to act coy. I just ignored him and tried to play my cards game. I always tend to bring a deck of cards everywhere I go since that's what we Asian's tend to do. It's how I make friends with new people and a good ice breaker.
Jay looked over at us laughing and having a good time. He self invite to our table and ask if he could join. I try to refuse the man but we were short handed by one player. A game of 13 is what we called it, or Big Two is what's called in America. And loser had to eat mint chocolate hard candy. Some say the taste is awful, but I find it refreshing. Maybe as a teenager everything seemed ok in taste.
As the card game progressed, Jay kept on losing and I couldn't help but wanted him to stop losing so that he doesn't eat all of my mint chocolate hard candy. I know the guy was trying to hang out with us longer and lost on purpose so that he could get a chance to strike a conversation with me. I could not help but admired his consistency though and give him credit for trying.
