Belle's POV
I and Meg had the same first class so we headed to our History class as Sam headed in the opposite direction to his English class. We sat at our usual spots at the back and chit-chatted till Mr.Coxren, our History teacher, entered the class.
Unlike most peeps, I actually loved History. So I listened intently as Mr.Coxren started teaching. After a few minutes, as I was immersed in the subject, out of the blue, my all time favorite song by my lovely One direction, 'What makes you beautiful', started ringing out in the class. Meg and I grinned at each other. We desperately wanted to sing out aloud but Mr.Coxren was already giving us a death glare so that wasn't probably our best choice.
It was my mom's call. I smiled apologetically at Mr.Coxren before quickly putting my phone on silent mode and sending a text to my mom, saying I was in class. Meg whispered in my ear "We will sing it aloud later" and winked. I winked back and stuck my tongue out. Yeah, we are really goofy. And yeah, we are crazy fans of One direction, #Directioners.
My phone kept vibrating as my mom kept calling me. So I excused myself and went out of the class to attend the call.
"Hello?"
"Um, hello, is this Mrs.Harison's relative?" The person on the other side asked.
"Yes, I am her daughter. May I know who is this and why are you speaking from her phone?" I asked, starting to get worried.
"I am sorry to say this but your mom met with an accident" He said and panic started flooding my mind and tears began pricking in my eyes.
"Is it serious?" I asked.
"I am afraid so" he said and I nearly dropped my phone.
"Wh-where is she ad-admitted?" I asked with my voice cracking.
"Sermont hospital...Please do come as soon as possible" he said and I started sobbing as soon as I hanged the call. I wiped my tears and tried to hold it back, as I had to reach the hospital while praying that she wasn't in a very serious condition. I dashed to Sam's class to get a ride to the hospital. He was the only one who could take me to the hospital immediately.
I flung open the door of the classroom and I explained my situation hurriedly to the teacher, my voice still cracking.
Sam's POV
Her eyes darted to me as my teacher called me out. She beckoned me to follow her and the teacher nodded, giving me the green signal to go out. I followed her out of the classroom.
"My mo-mom met with an ac-accident. Could you give me a ride to the hospital?" she asked, her whole body shaking with worry. I wanted to calm her down but I first prioritized getting Belle to the hospital.
"Let's go" I said and we started rushing to the parking lot. We zoomed out of the school and I was riding at the highest speed. I looked at Belle and her cheeks were tears stricken and she was biting her lip to hold back her tears. I reached over and gave her hand a reassuring squeeze.
"Everything will be fine, trust me." I said and she gave me a painful nod.
We reached the hospital and Belle jumped out of her seat before the car fully came to a stop. She ran to the reception and enquired about her mother. The receptionist told that she was in the ICU and Belle rushed there with me trailing behind her. A middle-aged man was sitting out as we reached the ICU.
"Umm, are you Mrs.Harison's daughter?" the man questioned Belle as she approached him.
"Ye-Yes...Is she in there?" Belle enquired.
"Yes, she is...the operation's going on" he replied.
"What happened?"Belle enquired, her eyes glistening with tears that were about to come out.
"Uh..Her car was hit by a speeding car and she got hit in the head...her airbags didn't deploy at the right time" he replied, his voice a mix of sadness and empathy.
"Oh" That was all Belle could reply as she cast her eyes on her feet to avoid her tears from spilling out.
"Don't worry, everything will be alright. Stay strong" he said with a sad smile, before handing over her mother's phone and bag to her.
"Thank you for your help" I said. He gave a tight-lipped nod and gestured me to take care of Belle. I looked at Belle who was leaning on the hospital wall, clutching her mom's bag. She was on the verge of tears as she bit her lip and shut her eyes. She slowly sat on the floor, beside the ICU door.
I sat across from her.
"Belle?"
"Hmm?" She opened her eyes.
"Don't do it" I said.
"Don't do what?" she asked.
"Don't hold back your tears. Let them all out" I said as I gave her a reassuring hug. That was all it needed to bring down her wall. She started crying her eyes out as I pat her back.
She tightly gripped my shirt and sobbed till she fell asleep after about half an hour. I lifted her up, careful not to wake her and made her sit in the chair. I sat in the chair beside her and positioned her head to rest on my shoulders as she slept. I looked at her with a sad smile and waited for the doctor.
