The temple guardian’s eyes shoot open, and gave off a golden glow. The temple guardian statute then turned its head slowly looking back at the altar. After a while, the statue looked at the flag in Jason’s hands.
The temple guardian turned swiftly, and slashed its double edged axe, aiming for Jason’s head. Jason was quick enough to duck, and evaded the deadly attack. He then quickly ran back, and joined Kelvin and Muna.
“I guess this is the final challenge.” Muna said.
“Yeah, I’m sure we can beat this old statue. It’s three against one.” Kelvin added.
“Please, I’m definitely strong enough to beat this stupid statue; but if you weaklings are asking for my help, then I guess I’ll help save your sorry ass.” Jason said, while doing a battle stance.
Kelvin and Muna ignored his remark, and focused their attention on the temple guardian.
The temple guardian turned and faced them. It lifted its long hafted double edged axe, and after a quick spin, it charged at them with tremendous speed.
When it was in a close attack range, the temple guardian slashed violently at the three of them. Seeing the attack, Kelvin and his team mates, quickly separated, avoiding the attack entirely.
The three of them then surrounded the temple guardian. The temple guardian didn’t seem fazed by this; though it was hard to tell, because the temple guardian statute didn’t really show any facial expression
The three of them got their weapons, ready, and lunged in without hesitation.
Muna aimed for the head; Kelvin went low, going for the legs, while Jason was going for the torso.
However, the temple guardian was quick to react. In a smooth but swift motion, the temple guardian quickly slashed its double edged axe at Jason using one hand. On the other hand, it grabbed hold of Muna by the neck; and as for Kelvin, the temple guardian delivered a powerful kick on the side of his head, which sent him flying and crashing onto the wall on the side.
Jason was lucky and swift enough to retract his spear, and used it as a sort of shield, to protect his head from the blade of the double edged axe. Though he was successful in keeping his head intact, the force of the attack sent him flying back.
The temple guardian was still holding Muna tightly by the neck. So, in other to break free from its strong hold, Muna used her dual short blades, and slashed vigorously at the arm of the temple guardian.
This action did next to nothing to affect the temple guardian. The temple guardian turned its head, and looked at Muna straight in the eye. Lifting her up, the temple guardian, took a spin, and threw her to the side with great force.
Muna went flying with speed, slammed into the hard wall, and was knocked out cold.
The blood dripping on the side of Kelvin’s head was healing already. He got up, and saw Muna lying unconscious on the floor. He got his sword ready, and charged in once more.
Kelvin reached the temple guardian, and attacked, using all the sword skills he learnt back in training class. But to Kelvin’s dismay, none of his skills worked. The temple guardian blocked each of his strike perfectly.
The temple guardian then went on the offensive, causing the both of them to engage in a full blown battle of sword and axe.
Kelvin managed to block a few attacks. He was barely holding up against the temple guardian. Each strike from the temple guardian carried a powerful force and strength behind it; and as such, Kelvin began to doubt the durability of his sword.
The temple guardian then lifted its double edged axe, and brought it down, with a force that was strong enough to split Kelvin in half. Kelvin quickly responded, and using both hands, he lifted his sword and blocked the attack from the temple guardian.
‘I don’t think I can hold up much longer. Muna is unconscious, and Jason is… Wait, where the hell is Jason?” Kelvin thought, as he scanned the altar room.
He looked behind him, and sure enough, he saw Jason; and Jason was currently running away with the flag.
“Jason, where the hell do you think you’re going?!! Get back here!!!” Kelvin shouted angrily.
“Oh, I’m sorry I can’t. Someone has to stay alive and retrieve the flag. I can’t die with peasants like you guys; I have a family honor to uphold. So, I just want you guys to know that your sacrifice was not in vain.” Jason replied back as he exited the altar room, and closed the doors shut.
Kelvin was enraged.
‘That cowardly bastard just abandoned his team mates and ran away all in the name of upholding some stupid honor.’ Kelvin thought as he assessed his current situation.
Muna was still unconscious; the flag was gone and worst of all, he had to fight the temple guardian alone.
