Devil's Contract

Feng Hei Lang closed her eyes as a bright blue dome started surrounding her. The warmth from her first evolution returned. She had a slight smile on her face. 'Looks like it's going the same way it went last time.'

She waited for the warmth to fade, but nothing happened. Feng Hei Lang frowned, her eyes still closed. 'It's normally faster than this? What is happening?' She have felt this feeling before. Feng Hei Lang was getting hotter, the same way when she was awakening her special ability. It wouldn't be soon before the heat was too much for her to handle.

Feng Hei Lang gritted her teeth and dug her claws into the earth as the heat rose. 'This is exactly the same way how I almost burned up last time trying to awaken my special ability!' She tightened her muscles as a tremor flew through her. Her instincts pulling her towards the wolf corpse next to her.

She took a large bite into the wolf next to her as the heat rose even more. 'WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?!' Her teeth sunk into the wolf's pelt as blood trickled into her mouth. Although the blood was warm, when it passed through her throat, it felt like it was contrasting the fiery storm inside of her.

Feng Hei Lang took a few more bites out of the wolf to calm the heat inside of her. She could still feel the burning pain, but it was slowly subsiding. She slowly unclenched her claws as the warmth faded away. Feng Hei Lang closed her eyes once more and calmed herself, catching her breath.

She took in a deep breath and let it out before opening her eyes. Feng Hei Lang felt lighter on her feet as if a weight was removed from her. She spun in a quick circle, making sure nothing was wrong. She looked back to see that her two tails have now split into three.

Feng Hei Lang then looked back at the dead wolf's corpse. It was completely ravaged and broken apart from her rapid eating during the evolution. She held a paw over her mouth. 'Oops, I should probably hide the body somewhere before someone comes back.'

She opened a tiny hole in the shadow dome she formed. Feng Hei Lang peeked her head inside just to see claws flash right at her snout. She instantly slipped back into the dome. 'Yikes! The wolves must have surrounded this place while I was evolving!'

Feng Hei Lang frowned and pulled opened her stat window.

She frowned. 'Isn't this basically like a slave contract? It might be useful in some situations, but I'll put it to the side for now.' Feng Hei Lang clicked on the [???] skill.

Feng Hei Lang frowned even more. 'EXCUSE ME SKILL?! HELLO?! I think the system broke-' She shouted into her dome, "HEY DEMON GODDESS! I THINK YOUR SYSTEM BROKE!"

There was no response as she sighed. 'I guess I'll leave it to the side for now...' Feng Hei Lang clicked on the last skill.

Feng Hei Lang nodded in satisfaction. 'Alright, it trades HP in exchange for a boost and defense. Not bad, but the price is quite high.' She closed her stat window and looked back at the dead wolf's body. 'Anyways, I need to head away from dome and find Kirei and Kang Lei!'

She activated [Dash] right before making the shadow dome disappear. Feng Hei Lang didn't even look around before launching away in a single direction. She felt extremely light on her feet and the trees were blurs. She couldn't exactly see where she was going and where she was running, but she instinctively dodged all the trees and bushes.

Feng Hei Lang could hear the Iron Fanged Wolves giving a chase, but she was slowly getting farther and farther away. She grinned in satisfaction as the wolves disappeared from her view. Feng Hei Lang skidded to a stop and brought her nose up into the air, taking a sniff. She recognized Kirei and Kang Lei's scent and started to run in that direction. 'I call this a success! Now, all we have to do is meet up and go back to Hu Li University! This mission is going to be.complete soon!'
