Syril jumped from the roof of one building to another without heading in a specific direction. She was just running through the streets with his eyes trying to look for Nathan.

"Damn it, where did you go?!" The news that Nathan had betrayed them had reached her ears as a mere rumor, but upon meeting Lloyd and his frustrated look she realized it was the truth.

Lloyd had explained how Nathan had saved a government agent, most importantly Faye Aeterna, one of the main targets to be taken care of.

No one had any idea why Nathan had saved an Aeterna, but Syril knew why. For this reason, she slipped away at a moment when no one was watching her and began to search for Nathan.

But no matter how hard she looked, she simply could not find him. She had heard a rumor that he had been seen in a government camp, and that he had slipped into the sewer.

But Syril had the slight impression that Nathan would not stay in the sewer and would look for a way out. So it would be a waste of time to go inside to look for him.

Syril and Nathan had not said goodbye in the best way. They had quarreled over differences of opinion, not that Syril agreed with the massacre that was being carried out by Khan.

She knew that hundreds if not thousands of innocent civilians had lost their lives at the hand of the calamities. Calamities which were supposed to be exterminated by the government, if only they weren't busy taking care of Khan's terrorist attacks.

Syril bit her lips at the thought of all those deaths. Compared to her fellow cadets and soldiers, Syril was not completely mowed down by Khan's ideals. She never had been.

Ever since she joined the organization, she was always alone, her only companion in a way was her teacher. Whenever she tried to join the other cadets, she could always see their hidden intentions, it was something she was born with and something she would die with.

Syril could somehow sense what the others thoughts and their desires or aspirations just by looking at them.

Most of Khan's cadets aimed to become strong, but this was only a device to abuse their strength on the weaker ones. There were also many who desired her for her beauty, so she had no choice but to isolate herself from everyone and spend her time alone training.

That was until the arrival of Nathan, whom she became interested in when she learned of his existence from her teacher. Like the others, Syril became interested in him under the pretext of being the apprentice of the devil, the creator and founder of Khan.

Syril did not delay in looking for Nathan, so she entered his room and found a young man a little younger than herself wearing a strange mask. Because of the mask it was impossible for her to read him, and especially to read his intentions.

Who would have imagined that she would discover such a secret that night, that the youngest son of the Aeterna family was not only still alive but had joined Khan.

But Syril cared little for Nathan's identity, and having grown up isolated from others, she wanted to know what was going on in Nathan's mind. But the moment their gazes met, Syril felt a shiver that she had never felt before in her life run through her body, even her soul.

As beautiful as Nathan's emerald eyes looked on the outside, inside they were nothing more than the eyes of a frightened child. A child who never had the chance to know what it meant to be happy.

That night Syril said a quick goodbye to Nathan and left. But besides seeing the fear that Nathan lived with every day, she could not see any bad intentions on Nathan's part. He just wanted to be strong enough to forget.

As time went by, the two became friends. Nathan was not someone who liked to socialize, and Syril did not have many, if any, people to hang out with, which led them to naturally connect.

Syril was much stronger than Nathan, but that only helped Nathan to train with her to learn. Syril grew fond of Nathan as she had never been fond of anyone else, she had fun just being with him.

When Nathan was dragged into the realm, Syril realized how important Nathan was to her, and now that Nathan had everyone as his enemy, she knew that if she did not do something, it was possible that Nathan would die without ever having made things right.

Syril poured more essence into her legs and moved forward as fast as she could. At some point, she heard an apparently fierce fight approaching. When she got to the roof of the building facing the main street, she frowned at the sight of Faye injured while facing dozens of calamity along with the other government squads.

Besides Faye, there was also Glyn, still sitting on the big mammoth's head. Syril looked at Glyn and then at Faye.

'...This looks very bad for the government, Nathan's sister and the other squads don't stand a chance against a Khan general and a third rank calamity' Syril clenched her fists knowing that if the fight dragged on it would be Faye who would die.

But his arrival was at the very moment when Glyn leapt from the head of the great calamity landing on the ground and raising his head slightly, signaling the calamity to move forward.

The chains that held him had long since been removed and now nothing bound him. As the mammoth advanced a dozen meters, Faye noticed the large shadow that was beginning to cast itself towards them, which led her to look at the mammoth.

But the mammoth was still calm, something Glyn knew perfectly well. When food was placed in front of a wild animal, it would go straight for it, ignoring everything else. So when the calamity was far away from them, he released it from his mind control.

The large mammoth paused momentarily as it felt disoriented, but it didn't take more than a couple of seconds to figure out what was in front of it. Food.

The great calamity growled to the sky as it kicked the ground with one of its front paws, then began to run towards Faye and the other squads.

Faye didn't think twice and stepped forward raising her sword, waiting for the calamity's tackle.

Syril for his part, essence flowed through his body and silver marks began to appear on his face as his long black hair began to turn a silver color like the moon in the middle of the night.

She didn't care about the lives of the other government agents, only Faye's life. She was ready to jump in and grab her from facing the calamity, even if it meant the death of the others.

The calamity saw Faye face him and snarled again without pause, his long fangs ready to rip apart anything that came his way.

Faye closed her eyes and raised her sword, gathering all the essence she had left to stop the calamity even if it came at the cost of her life.

But it seemed that nothing could stop such a beast, but then its head suddenly fell to the ground with such force that it sank several meters, creating a crater of several meters around it.

The mammoth's head was completely crushed, leaving a bloody mess around a figure with a pair of wings made entirely of darkness.

Orion wiped the blood from his one hand waving it away and looked around. Passing his gaze over Syril before stopping on Faye, who were looking at him with stunned expressions.

"I've done my part, I hope you'll do yours"
