DEATH'S OWN

Born with an unusual birthmark, the shape of a skeleton’s head with rose patterns round about it on her neck, many believed she would only bring bad luck to those around her. This belief was solidified when two of her suitors died unexpectedly right after a visit to her home. Such a thing should come as a bother to any woman but the same could not be said about Nyx. She didn't care if the beliefs about her were true or false. She never liked any of her suitors. Her heart had always been longing for a certain man whom she was very familiar with in her childhood but ceased to appear before her the moment she entered adolescence. Since she knew him one thing was very certain about him, he was not human since he never aged. Not even once. Believing he would one day come again, Nyx was prepared to wait until the day they would meet again. But not everything goes as planned. Having a sickly mother whose only wish was to see her daughter get married and an influential suitor who didn't mind the deaths around her, Nyx soon found herself married off and her mother passed away leaving a father who dreaded her existence and a husband she never loved. **** From a distance he watched her grow, keeping his distance from her, staying within the shadows. As she aged slowly into adulthood, the mark on her neck became more prominent and so was her scent. He wanted her to grow, but when she finally came of age, he thought she would be better without him. But as time wore on and other men began to show interest in her, he could not hold back nor could he let them have her. He discarded those who had an interest in her but one of them slipped through his fingers while he was away and took her. He waited to see if she was happy with her life, with that man, if she was, then he would let her be. She would be able to live a happy life this time unlike the previous one, but everything changed when the forces from the underworld learned of her existence and her connection with him. Her husband was killed which he permitted and her life was in constant danger. Keeping the distance was no longer an option and he once again appeared before her.

How to kill a demon 1

Skye and Mr Anders were silent even after minutes had passed. It was unbelievable that something like that could happen. They almost thought it impossible to, but they couldn't find it in themselves to doubt what was told about Nyx or perhaps Natasha as she was previously known.

Mr Anders specifically wanted to doubt it, but after remembering that he came back to life after he dying and was brought back by the very same man. Who would have thought that he was actually Death himself?

"Now that you know, what do you say to me? Aren't I just the best?" He grinned and successfully drove away the silence.

"In everything you have said, you never mentioned who you are or how you got to know all of this," Rogers stated. He still didn't know this man's name or what he was, but from what he could understand, he was not a human who dabbled into dark magic or something like that but an actual devil too. But... which one?

"You both know just how to ruin the fun," he clicked his tongue in distaste. "My name is not for you to know, but if you think that you can take advantage of this and let him know about our deal," the aura around him quickly shifted and became menacing, dark and eerie. He clenched his right hand, and they both fell on their knees. "Do that, and snapping the strings of your lives would be easier than killing a worthless bug," he uttered as he stood up and approached them.

Rogers looked at himself and then at Skye, who was most affected by whatever he was doing. He could feel a force inside him, forcing him to kneel, but besides that, there was nothing else.

"Did he touch you?" The man asked when he noticed the anomaly in Rogers. Being the older one of the two, he should be in a more pathetic state than Skye, but he was alright. There could only be an explanation for it, and it irked him. "Answer me," he ordered.

"Yes. To be honest, I died, but here I am," Rogers replied, and the man chuckled.

"Well played," he muttered before he disappeared, leaving them alone.

Rogers quickly rushed to Skye's side to check on him. He didn't know what the man did, but it looked serious, seeing as Skye was barely conscious. At least he was still alive, but for how long? He couldn't imagine having to experience whatever happened to Skye. After experiencing death once, he didn't want another near-death experience. Not at his age. He may still be alive now, but he didn't forget what it felt like to have a bullet penetrate his body and the hopelessness he felt when he knew he was dying.

"He is gone now, calm down and recover," he said, hoping to comfort him and help him relax. He didn't know how Skye got involved with that man but he knew that it must not have been Skye's wish just as he didn't ask for the devil to come to him but he did and somehow, he was now entangled with him.

Nyx sat down with a hand on her forehead. She didn't know what to think about having her past revealed to her, but it does answer a lot of questions. Questions like why everything that happened always looked so familiar. The feeling of Dèjà Vu finally had a reason behind it.

"Are you alright," Reaper sat on the other side, looking at her. Perhaps he shouldn't have told her, but he had to. He could tell her memories were returning, and he did not want to have them erased again. He couldn't do that to her.

"I will be," Nyx replied. She looked up and offered a faint smile, happy that he hadn't decided to lie or deny what was happening to her. He could have decided to hide it or do anything, but just as always, he was blunt and direct with his replies and never lied to her. "Thank you. I will try to remember what I can from now on," Nyx uttered in gratitude. "What about that woman?" She asked. Now that the other matter was out of the equation, it was time to deal with the main reason why they had come here.

Reaper examined her for a few seconds before he stood up and extended his hand towards her. "This way," he said and she took his hand. The walls shifted and another room was seen and the woman was bound on both hands and legs and forced to a kneeling position. She was screaming due to how tight the chains got and that was because she had tried too many times to break free but the chains got tighter each time and now they were unbearably tight. If she were to be a living mortal, her bones would have shattered by now but hers were still intact. Barely but still intact.

"Is she alright?" Nyx asked, feeling pitiful for the poor demon lady. Her cries were heart reaching but her instincts told her not to plead for her release. Who knows what she'll come back to do to her once she is set free?

"That won't kill her," Reaper answered as they stopped walking, standing only a few feet away from the miserable woman.

Her red hair had covered most of her face but Nyx could feel a death glare from her. She didn't need to think at all to know who it was directed at but she could care less about that.

"What will kill her?" Nyx asked, curious to know what could kill a demon or devil. It would be fascinating to kill one or more of those. They were troublesome anyway.

"You want to kill her?" Reaper asked.

Nyx looked into his eyes and thought she saw a shine in them when he asked her that or was it just her hallucinations? "I think it would be good to know since the likes of her are already showing up where they are not meant to be," Nyx replied. Besides this red-haired here, there was already another troubling Skye. "I would like to know so that I will be able to protect myself."
