"Is your brother going to come with us to the arcade too?" Liam whispered in Justin's ears, and Justin looked at his brother who was standing at some distance, leaning on his car as he talked to a client over the call and sighed.
His gaze then moved to Evangeline who was standing with the girls and laughing at something, looking as carefree as ever.
It might just be his assumption, but it looks like his brother is going to keep his word when he said he will keep a look at her so that she stays away from his younger brother. Justin shook his head with a sigh.
He has only met her today, and he already feels like he is in some kind of illegitimate relationship while his brother is like those old-age moms who can't see their son hanging around the poor girl.
This reminds him, he still doesn't know what family Evangeline belongs to.
Justin sighed and they turned around as soon as Etham walked outside.
"They have enough space and a complete room is empty for us," Ethan said, and Liam chuckled.
"Isn't these the perks of the Walker family?" Liam said, and Ethan scratched the back of his head before looking at Belle.
"Guys, what do you think, should I make a move today? Like, try to get some alone time with her?" Ethan asked, and Ryan looked at the girls before shrugging.
"Honestly speaking, I don't know. After what kind of ruckus Tina created, I think you should stop for a couple of days and let her settle with it. But on the other hand, you can comfort her and tell her you didn't have any idea Tina would do something like that," Ryan said, and Ethan was left thinking again.
"I think you should at least clear the air," Justin said, his gaze meeting with Aaron who scowled at him.
"Why is he looking at me like that? What did I do?" Justin asked, confused.
"Don't bother with him. He is just peachy that you knew Evangeline earlier than him, and his chances with her are compromised now," Liam said.
"Whose chances are compromised?" Alexander walked to them, and they immediately quietened.
"Haha, nothing brother Alex. We are just talking about how Ethan's chances with Belle are compromised because of what Tina did," Liam quickly covered.
"Hmm, you should take care of such things if you want to keep that girl to yourself. If you can't even protect your woman, what exactly is your love and attraction for?" Alexander's words were harsh, and Ethan looked down in shame.
He knew he was at fault today for not taking Belle's side, and Alexander's words pierced his guilt even more.
"Come on, brother. It's a mediocre crush. You don't need to be so harsh on him," Justin said, and it hurt Ethan even more.
These brothers surely know how to poke at the right place to hurt someone.
It wasn't just a mediocre crush for him. He sighed dejectedly as they all moved inside the arcade room, and everyone picked their games.
Evangeline didn't feel like doing anything and sat on the couches, watching everyone playing.
She can't relax like this. She isn't here to enjoy and have fun. It's good that she made some friends, but it's not her prime motive. Evangeline looked at her phone.
She had applied for a part-time job at a few places in between her lectures and was now waiting for the results.
"Are you not going to play?" Alexander asked when he saw her sitting casually for fifteen minutes.
"No. You?" She asked.
"No," He said, and once again they became silent.
"How do you know James? I saw him with you when he came to pick you up," Alexander said casually while looking at his phone and Evangeline looked at him, unsure what exactly he wanted to know.
She was about to answer him when she received a call from an unknown number.
Thinking it must be one of the recruiters, she walked out of the arcade and stood outside the club.
"Hello? Yes, this is she," Evangeline crossed her fingers nervously. This job was really important to her.
"Yes, we saw your qualifications and they are great. More than that, your face is best suited for the role, but the shift and position you applied for aren't available anymore. Would you like to apply for the post of barista?" The lady asked politely, and Evangeline bit her lower lip.
"How much is the pay?" She asked.
"The same standard pay. In fact, if you bring in more customers, which I am sure you will, given your good looks, you'll get an extra commission. The commission can range from $200-400," the lady said, and Evangeline hummed.
"If the timing is the same, please sign me up for it," Evangeline said, and as she turned around, she heard a loud horn, making her widen her eyes.
"Watch out!" She heard a deep cold voice.
Before she could react, someone held her hand and pulled her to the side, making her bump into his chest, and she looked up into the familiar brown eyes, her breath hitching, their faces only inches apart.
The feeling of deja vu took over her momentarily.
"Hey!" Evangeline shouted at the biker, who turned around momentarily before showing her the middle finger, making her grit her teeth angrily.
She wasn't walking on the road. Evangeline was pacing around on the pavement which is not for vehicles. This guy, whoever it was deliberately wanted to mess with her.
But as far as she knows, she doesn't have any animosity with anyone here so far. Must be just some random guy who did this for fun and to scare her. Evangeline took a deep breath before looking in front of her, the man still holding her shoulders.
Her gaze raked over his squared jaws before settling back on his eyes, eyes that hold such coldness that she wanted to drown in, probably to dissipate the heat of her avenging emotions.
His Cologne mixed with his body scent wafted through her nostrils, and she gulped.
She always had a thing for scents and eyes. It's the first thing she notices in someone, and for some reason, this guy has captivated her exactly through that.
"Hello, miss. Are you there? Will you be available for the interview at 8?" The lady she was talking to, said, and Evangeline kept looking into the man's eyes before humming.
"I'll be there," She whispered softly.
"Are you okay?" He asked, and Evangeline nodded, coming out of her thoughts.
"Yes, I am fine. Thank you," Evangeline was about to step back when she noticed she was almost hovering over the side pavement beside some dirt.
Alexander noticed it too, and he lifted her effortlessly with one hand before putting her on the other side.
"You should stay aware of your surroundings, no matter how busy you are. It's not a safe world," Alexander whispered, meaning more than he said, and Evangeline leaned on the large glass of the club, mimicking his pose.
"Right. Maybe I know a thing or two about that," She said before popping candy in her mouth.
Alexander looked at the side profile of the girl, observant.
