JAESUNG
"You're having multiple voice cracks. What's going on?" he asked.
"I think because of the key. It's too high" Jae Hwan replied.
"It's not that high because it's the same with the demo. What's going on?" The producer started to be mad. I can see on Jae Hwan's face that he's scared now.
"I think it's because of adolescence. Our voices started to transition right now since we entered the teenager stage." Hae In interfered with the discussion.
"Well, you're right. It could be the major problem though" The editor agreed with what Hae In said. I also agreed with it since I am having also difficulty switching the keys especially since Jae Hwan has vocal parts.
"Get out for now and practice that part outside. Now." Jae Hwan panicky removed the headset from his head and get out of the studio with a teary-eyed face.
"Hae In, you're next" Before Hae In entered the studio, he signaled to follow Jae Hwan outside of the room and I nodded.
I followed Jae Hwan outside of the room and he was sitting on the ground crying.
"Jae Hwan, what are you doing here?" I asked him. I sit beside him and patted his back.
"It hurts me that I am the one in this group who doesn't have any knowledge of that stuff. It feels like I don't deserve to be in this group because I am not worth it and good as all of you," he said.
"Jae Hwan, I know you're good. You're just in the middle of transitioning. Adolescence. I know that after that stage, your voice will become stable. Besides that, you're good at dancing because I witnessed it. Just let your voice be developed now." I told him.
"You know what, I am having difficulty as well because I think my voice is in the middle of transitioning but you saw me, I did not quit. Instead, I show them that I can be good too."
"There are no perfect singers and dancers. We are just human too. We can commit mistakes every time but always remember, that we should know how to improve ourselves. We're just beginners keep that in your mind." He looked at me and wiped his tears.
"Me too. I don't like this stage where my voice is transitioning. I do really love it beforehand as I can reach high keys but now, I can't" I was startled when I heard a familiar voice behind us. I looked at it and it's Jaeyon. He sits beside me and helped to comfort Jae Hwan,
"Hyung, you're really good earlier. It seems like you're a professional idol who debuted for such a long time."
(Hyung means brother if you're a male.)
"I doubt that. I think it's just a coincidence." Jaeyon replied.
"Stop crying because it can affect your voice. Stand up and let's practice your part" I told Jae Hwan and he smiled at us while standing. Jaeyon and I helped him with his part even though we're not a vocalist.
After several minutes, we entered the recording studio again and we saw Hae In doing his high notes.
"How many trials has Hae In done?" I asked Jen Le.
"He did the two high notes perfectly earlier. In this last part where the high notes will take about 6 seconds, the director says he's lacking power and strength. Also, he is cracking his voice when he's trying to attempt the 8-second high notes."
"We've been in the outside for several minutes and yet he's still not yet finished," Jaeyon said.
"The vocal parts of him are kind of demanding. It requires his full voice." Len Ji interfered.
We can see on Hae In's voice and face that he was already exhausted.
"One more time." The producer told him and he exhales first.
"Do you know the title track of our senior's second album?" Jen Le asked us and we all nodded at him.
"On its last part of the chorus, the 3 vocalists there did high notes simultaneously. I heard that the producer of that song is the producer of our album now and he wants to copy those strategies in our album," he explained. That song he was referring to is kind of difficult to sing. Some other groups in LC Entertainment refuse to cover because it requires vocals. Only that group can sing that perfectly.
"Let's start." Hae In said and the demo song played. He continued singing the last part until he began striking the high notes.
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8" I heard Jaeyon counting silently and closed his eyes when Hae In finally completed the eight-second high notes.
He finished some of his lines and the music director let him go out.
"Len Ji and Jen Le, your turn." I was shocked when the two went inside simultaneously.
The goal for them is a duo. Jen Le is a singer in China since he was young. Len Ji is an aspiring singer.
When Len Ji is doing his part, his voice is cracking as well due to the high keys of the song he needs to reach.
"As you can see, even Len Ji is experiencing difficulties so don't be afraid." Min Hyuck comforted Jae Hwan who is currently beside him.
"Jen Le, try doing your high notes that to be followed by Len Ji" Jen Le commences singing his part and when he's about to strike the high notes, his voice cracks same as Len Ji.
"One more time. Take it easy. Don't sing it speedily as you will lose breath quickly." The producer guided them and began striking the high notes, after that, they finally made it. They sang some of their verses and after, it was Jae Hwan's turn.
"Don't be nervous okay?" I told him.
"Don't be afraid to commit mistakes" Jaeyon reminded him.
"Pressure. Avoid it. Hyung Mark is here"
"The vocal line is here to cheer our precious Maknae!" The three said to ease Jae Hwan's nervousness.
"Thank you to all of you," he said and hugged us tightly. Later on, he gets inside the recording room and wears the headset.
The demo song plays and Jae Hwan began to sing his part. Jae Hwan thought that the key decreased but it was the normal key of the song. We talked to the editor earlier if they can pretend that the key decreases and they agreed with our plans.
After some trials, Jae Hwan perfectly completed his part and the producer let us hear the raw version of the song and it makes us goosebumps. It's insane.
"The next process will be the music video shooting, pictorial and the dance practice…" Our manager said to us while heading us to our apartment.
