Chapter 20: Trust or Kill Pt.1

~Tatsumi POV~

It's been a while since I came back to the mansion of Rosswaal as I entered inside.

Viewing the garden, I saw that Emilia and Puck were busy practicing their spirit arts and the twins are nowhere in sight.

Good.

It would complicate matters further for what I plan to do next.

As I walk towards Emilia it looks like she is done with her training as she saw me, she smiles as she waves at me, "Huh? Ah! Sir Tatsumi, I see you have finally returned it's a pleasure to meet you again how was your exploration."

Smiling at her I gave her a thumbs up with gusto as I reply to Emilia, "Very good actually I managed to see all around the place even the village in Lord Rosswaal land as well."

Nodding her head Puck soon appears floating near her shoulder as he talks to me in a friendly manner, "Why hello there Tatsumi it's a pleasure meeting you again I can't thank you enough for protecting Emilia in my place a gift is an order."

Puck getting close to me asks me what I want as a gift in his usual cheerful self, "Tatsumi, is there anything you want? I can fulfill most of your wishes."

Grinning at that I know what to ask the cute little kitty, "Yeah I was wondering if you can lead me to Beatrice here I was hoping to meet and have a chat with her since I already talked to everyone here."

Puck looks at me with curiosity in his eyes as he asks me with a simple reply, "Hmm… that is odd yes but sure I can show you the way to meet with Betty."

Bowing to Puck with no shame I responded kindly to him in a grateful manner, "Thank you very much Lord Puck sir, for this gift!"

Emilia looks embarrassed at my actions while Puck looks on with a smug smile on his face, "Lord Puck? Now that does have a nice ring to it. Very well then Tatsumi let this Lord show you to the way."

As Puck finished saying his words Emilia returns with her words of kindness as she told us to farewell, "Very well then I will continue my conversation to the wisps then I hope you don't mind Beatrice Tatsumi she can be a bit difficult to meet I hope you do well.'

With that Puck and I left to the inside of the manner as we were exploring the area as I try to make conversation with him, "So Puck how is it being – "

But soon I was caught off guard by what Puck says next in a cold voice.

"You Tatsumi you can stop pretending that the [Witch Stench] is on you I can smell it from all around you even if you somehow managed to hide it."

Damn.

I guess the cat's out of the bag now.

Sighing at this I still followed after Puck as I say to him with no hiding my lies only the truth, "Sigh… I guess there was no way hiding my scent, but I won't deny it from you, but I have my reasons as for why."

Puck glances at me as he says to me in the same cold tone, "Just for you to know I didn't want to attack you when Emilia is around but since you have asked to meet Beatrice it was coinvent but I know you aren't like them…"

I interrupted him with a cold expression to match with a murderous intent shown, "I'm not them… I'm not those monsters that kill for following a damn book that had no meaning… the Witch Cultist has been a plague that needs to cut down no matter what…"

Puck then responds to me with a raised eyebrow replying why he hasn't attacked me yet, "Sure that is your true intentions with that group since I can tell when you're telling the truth that was why I didn't act on it yet but if we were to talk in private I want to whither if you are a threat to Emilia."

Well, that is a pretty fair treatment.

A person with a [Witch Scent] on them is just asking for trouble no matter where they go.

As we finally reached the door Puck opens it to reveal a room filled with a library all around the place with Beatrice there smiling at Puck but annoyed that I was here.

Beatrice was the one to respond to Puck in a happy voice as she says to him, "Ah! Big brother Puck how are you doing this afternoon… and why is that human here I suppose?"

Puck then begins to reply to her in an honest voice as he says to Beatrice, "Hey there Betty nice to chat but I kind of need to interrogate this guy if he's a threat to Emilia and the [Witch Scent] on him is very suspicious since he left before with a little bit but came back with a huge increase."

Well…

There is no denying that one honestly on that one since in the original Sanctuary did boost Subaru scent after he came out of the first trial.

But looking at Beatrice well here goes nothing!

Looking at Beatrice I soon asked her the fated question that was never asked to her, "Tell me something Beatrice… are you the one I was supposed to meet one day?"

Puck looks at Beatrice and is a bit annoyed wondering what was going as he was seeing the scene before him.

Beatrice looks annoyed but a bit shook however I continued talking to her hoping to break her out of her shell, "Tell me… are you the one that holds the incomplete [Gospel] waiting for the 'They' to come…"

That did it.

Beatrice looked at me in shock as Puck was getting confused about what was going on with the situation.

Well it wasn't like Puck was going to remember anyway since

Can't blame him either since at first it was supposed to be my interrogation but me saying this to Beatrice now.

Puck glares at me about what is happening as he asks me in clear rage, "Tatsumi… I hope you better have a reason why Betty is acting this way…"

Next I see all the icicles surround me with all of them pointed at my direction surrounding me leaving me with no room to escape as I feel the temperature begin to drop.

As soon as Puck summoned them, he threatens me with his words finishing his sentence, "Because you might not like what happens next if you don't answer truthfully…"

Glancing at Puck he was serious with his words.

Unfortunately for him if we did fight in this sunset it would be a matter of time before he was forced out by his energy reserves of not staying more to 5:00 pm like it happened with the Elsa incident.

As Puck threaten me, he was genuinely surprised to see Beatrice guard me in front of him with tears in her eyes, "Wait Puck! I need to know more about this person and his connections to mother I suppose!"

Seeing this type of action taking place before Puck seems to snap him out of his threat but I then surprised him even more as I say to him, "Puck I mean you no harm I came here to discuss with Beatrice I have no intention of harming you or anyone in this mansion you have my word, as for the increase [Witch Scent] came from Echidna herself after her invitation she gave me."

Pause.

At the words that I said seem to surprise the both of them.

Viewing the icicles disappeared it looks like Puck was willing to wait since dropping the name Echidna to them is something clearly big for them as a stranger said those words.

But it will also help my chances to befriend Beatrice since no one should have heard these words unless they are the Witch Cultist or…

The 'They' that Beatrice has been waiting for has arrived.

I'm not a fool to believe that these events happening would be enough to enough to sway Puck Beatrice for sure, but Puck is another matter.

Smiling at Beatrice I removed my black crystal pendent as the spirit turns around seeing me with tears on her face as I say to her handing the pendent to her, "Beatrice the artificial spirit of 3 Echidna pride and joy… would you like to speak to your mother once more?"

Saying these words were enough for Beatrice to grab the black crystal and hold dear to her as if it was the last important thing to received.

Puck was standing in the background clearly confused of the situation as I talk to him in a serious manner, "Well Puck I guess you can find out how I got the [Witch Scent] on me right? But that doesn't satisfy you questions so ask the away."
