Metropolis
"At 4:30 in the afternoon?" Hearing this, Jero raised his left hand to check the time. It was currently 3:10 PM, so he still had time. He asked, "Which company is hosting this press conference? It's not...?"
"Yeah, it's LexCorp," Clark, his older brother, knew what Jero was going to say and replied preemptively.
"This guy really loves the spotlight these days," Jero frowned. Even given a lifetime, he couldn't forget the close call Lex Luthor had put his father Jonathan Kent through. If it weren't for Clark's superpowers, he might have lost his foster father.
Seeing Jero's reaction, Clark quickly tried to smooth things over. "Alright, if you want to finish your assignment as quickly as possible, this afternoon's press conference is the best option. And you don't have to worry about anything else; I'll be there for you."
"Alright, just tell me the location, and I'll wait for you," Jero suppressed his disgust for Lex Luthor and told Clark.
"On First Street in Metropolis..."
Clark then listed a series of addresses, which Jero repeated before preparing to head to the press conference.
At that moment, Lena Luthor passed by Jero. She glanced at him briefly, then walked straight to her car.
"I won't be going home today. I want to meet my brother first," Lena said from the back seat of her car, using an authoritative tone that brooked no resistance.
The driver took a moment to think before responding, "I'll have to check with Mr. Luthor first."
"Go ahead and ask him, then," Lena said, crossing her arms and waiting for Lex Luthor's response.
The driver then pulled out a communication device specially provided by Lex and sent a query message. About five seconds later, Lex responded with a simple "Okay."
With the boss's approval, the driver took Lena to the press conference venue.
4:00 PM - Press Conference Venue
Clark stood at the entrance of the press conference in a sharp suit, accompanied by a man and a woman.
Jim Olsen, a young redhead with a camera hanging around his neck, asked Clark, "Your brother should be here soon, right, Clark?"
"Trust me, he won't be late," Clark replied confidently.
"It's best if he isn't. I hope he won't disappear midway like some of our small-town boys," Lois Lane quipped, glancing at Clark.
Clark looked at the woman before him who had deeply captured his heart. For a moment, he couldn't find the right words.
Among the women Clark had encountered, Lois Lane wasn't considered extraordinarily beautiful, but Clark had never been one to care much about appearances. He valued qualities other than looks.
"Believe me, he won't," Clark replied with a smile. At that moment, Jero's figure gradually appeared in Clark's sight, and he greeted him.
"Over here, Jero."
Upon hearing Clark's call, Jero hurried over. Clark patted Jero's back and introduced him to his two friends.
"This is my brother, Jero Kent. Jero, this is Lois Lane, and this is Jim Olsen."
After giving Jero a once-over, Lois asked, "Is this your brother? You two have quite an age difference."
"He's adopted, just like me," Clark replied honestly.
Jim Olsen enthusiastically said, "It looks like you'll be our helper today, Jero. I'm Jim, the photographer for Clark and Lois. Just stick with me."
"Sure thing," Jero replied.
This was the first time he had met Lois Lane and Jim Olsen; he hadn't encountered them before.
"Let's go, grab a good spot," Lois waved her hand and ushered the three men forward. "I have something I want to ask Lex Luthor later."
"Remember to keep up, little brother Jero," Jim said warmly, almost making Jero feel a little embarrassed.
"Let's go inside," Clark adjusted his tie and said.
Subsequently, the four of them entered the venue.
Inside the venue, there were already quite a few people, and the venue's lights illuminated LexCorp's newly displayed products.
Jero looked at one of LexCorp's military drones with a sleek design and was immediately captivated. He mumbled about the drone's advantages.
"With this streamlined design, this aircraft can reach speeds of at least Mach 3, and being a drone, there are no pilot issues to worry about. The speed can continue to increase, and it can carry a wide range of firepower. In terms of weight, it even surpasses the one Wayne Enterprises released last year. It's truly an excellent aircraft that can enter the battlefield at high speeds."
Looking at this aircraft, Jero even had thoughts about a new direction for developing Ultra Armor.
The No. 3 armor he currently used, "Saiwen," and the No. 4 armor under development, without a number or codename, were both developed with an emphasis on absolute firepower. However, now it seemed that he needed to develop an Ultra Armor with a focus on being lightweight, highly maneuverable, and versatile in energy abilities. {T/N: I didn't know how to translate Saiwen, the text was confusing}
"Oh? It seems like you're quite interested in my brother's work," a familiar voice appeared next to Jero, distracting him from the light drone. Only then did Jero turn around to see the person calling him.
"Lena Luthor?" Jero looked at the person in front of him in confusion.
Hearing his response, Lena smiled lightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you here, Jero Kent."
At this point, Lois next to Jero noticed Lena's name. She raised an eyebrow and asked Lena, "Luthor? Are you Lex Luthor's sister?"
"You must be Miss Lois Lane. I've heard about you from my brother. You're a smart and brave woman," Lena replied politely to Lois.
"Looks like Lex didn't speak ill of me behind my back," Lois said, her tone a bit cold.
During Lex's most insane period, he had once kidnapped Lois as a hostage to use against Superman. This unpleasant memory still left a bitter taste in her mouth.
"Oh? You're Lex's sister that he mentioned," Clark seemed to have known about Lena's existence from Lex long before. He greeted her, stepping forward. "As expected, as smart and clever as Lex described."
"Thank you for the compliment. I'm also Jero's classmate now," Lena said with a faint smile, looking at Jero. "I heard from Elma that you're quite good at chess, Jero. Would you like to play a game with me sometime?"
