[Third person Point of View]
Prince Yugo of Tamaran, son of King Tharras and Queen Salja acted like a normal Tamaranian baby until he became roughly six Tamaranian months old. Due to one Tamaranean year being equaled to thirty-five Earth years, this was equivalent to roughly sixteen to nineteen Earth Years.
After he reached the age of six Tamaranian months old, he started to cry less, in fact, he stopped crying in general. The people of Tamaran who were ruled by King Tharras and Queen Salja saw this as a sign that he would make a great king and earned the nickname Fearless Prince.
The royal house of King Myand'r would welcome two new members. Shortly after Prince Yugo was born, Queen Luand'r, wife of Myand'r, had another daughter named Koriand'r, who unlike her older sister was not plagued by an illness that prevented her from harnessing the ultraviolet light to fly. Later on, She would give birth to King Myand'r's first son, Prince Ryand'r.
As the Tamaranian years went by, the relationship between the two sides of Tamaran became better. The two royal households had already decided that their children would have a political marriage but had not yet told the Public.
This was due to Queen Salja wanting Prince Yugo to live as a child for a bit longer and it was supported by Queen Luand'r. The decision to marry their children had been made by both Kings while the delay was made by both Queens.
At the moment, Komand'r had regained the right to inherit the throne from her father. Now that she could harness the ultraviolet light to fly, the people of Tamaran believed that she was cured of both her illness and her curse.
The curse was that they thought that she was the cause of the Citadel's attack. After being cured Komand'r's life only got better. She got the love and respect of her people that she deserved but that did not mean that she had forgotten how they treated her before.
Still, with her being loved and respected as well as having claim to the throne, she had no reason to hate her little sister who was also loved by the people of Tamaran. Due to Koriand'r never hating her, Komand'r grew fond of her little sister as she was one of the very few Tamaraneans who had never hated her.
Prince Yugo demonstrated his unique intellect at the age of 10 Tamaranean years when he built what all Tamaranians soon learned to be the Arc Net Shield. Its sole purpose is to form an impenetrable shield around any spatial object, in this case, the object was Tamaran.
With the Arc Net Shield in place, Tamaran became an impenetrable fortress. The Citadelians could not breach it and peace had finally returned to Tamaran. This went on for five more Tamaranean years but that did not mean that the people of Tamaran stopped training.
When the Arc Net Shield was deployed, the people of Tamaran took this time to replenish their strength and resources. The attack from the Citadel on the day of Komand'r's birth had destroyed part of the Planet's natural ecosystem and the Tamaranean were too busy defending their home to resolve that problem.
After regaining their cherished peace, the people of Tamaran began to view Prince Yugo in an even higher regard. Talks about him marrying one of the princesses became a hot topic among the masses.
This topic blew to even higher heights once both Royal Family confirmed that Prince Yugo would be marrying one of the princesses of Tamaran. This caused a debate to spread through Tamaran about which princess should be married to Prince Yugo and vice versa.
It even included the parents of the three in question, however, those who debated made two mistakes, the first was to not ask the opinion of the ones involved while the second was that they forgot about the second Prince of Tamaran, the brother of the two Princesses, Prince Ryand'r.
Prince Ryand'r's existence was overshadowed by Prince Yugo. It became to such a point that he wanted to prove himself to everyone on Tamaran but he knew that he could not beat Prince Yugo, neither in combat nor intellectually.
He knew that he could never build something like the Arc Net Shield but upon thinking about it, he had an idea that could earn the recognition of everyone on Tamaran. The Arc Net Shield's purpose was to defend against the attack from the Citadel which had increased recently.
With the help of his servant, he secretly left the planet and contacted the Citadel to break a peace treaty with them and they agreed to his demands. He had cleverly used the Citadel's declining image, due to failing to invade Tamaran, to gain the upper hand in the negotiation.
The negotiation went as such, Prince Ryand'r wanted the Citadel to stop invading Tamaran. He proposed that they share technology and enter a non-aggression alliance with the Citadel. He knew that even if the Citadel hated the Arc Net Shield, they would not pass up the occasion of obtaining such technology.
The Citadel agreed on the condition that the non-aggression alliance or peace treaty if you will, would be signed on Tamaran and that they could at least witness the Arc Net Shield during the signing and they would leave Tamaran soon after, awaiting for Tamaran to send them the schematics for it.
Prince Ryand'r planned to use this to show his worth to the people of Tamaran, he also was not stupid enough to give the Citadel the real schematics of the Arc Net Shield, he would request Prince Yugo to make a realistic fake schematic of the Arc Net Shield.
To him, this was a foolproof plan, he would gain the attention he sought, remove the problem of the Citadel's attempts at invading them constantly, and be known as one of the Princes who stopped the Citadel's invasion... or so he thought.
Prince Ryand'r had overlooked one thing, the possibility that he might in fact be the one that was being led on during the negotiation. The Citadel indeed wanted the schematics for the Arc Net Shield but that was because their backers had requested it from them in exchange for figuring out its weak spots for the Citadel's upcoming invasion of course.
If Prince Ryand'r could, he should have learned from the Psions and Dominators. Anyway, the Citadel's true plan was never to sign a peace treaty, it was to perform a small invasion slash guerilla warfare during the signing before leaving the Planet with the Arc Net Shield.
They planned to kill as many leaders of Tamaran as possible and to accomplish that, they needed to make it look as convincing as possible. That is why they made it look like they had retrieved their stationed battleship near Tamaran back to the Citadel's home world and then kept a single scoutship.
They were however going to stay true to their deal with the Tamaranean. Unfortunately for Prince Ryand'r, he was not the Tamaranean whose deal with the Citadel was going to be kept. Prince Ryand'r had overlooked one thing but that did not mean that he had only made one mistake.
Overlooking meant that he failed to notice something that should have been obvious but his other mistake was not something that he should have known. After all, Tamaranean is a trusting race when it comes to a member of their own and rarely doubted that one of them could have ill will against their home.
Xand'r, originally a servant of the Tamaranean royal family, was assigned to be Prince Ryand'r's personal servant. Unlike most Tamaraneans, he did not worship X'hal. He worships a sinister creature known as the Necrostar, which was defeated by the Tamaraeans and Starro the Conqueror long ago.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Tamaraneans had tried to stand against it but they failed. It took the might of Starro to finally weaken the Necrostar, and for them to be able to freeze it into a prizon and send it out into the cosmos.
Upon its defeat, the Necrostar's victims regained their free will but some of them started to worship it. Those worshippers banded together to form a group of rebel that opposed the Tamaranean's royalty at that time. They were eventually defeated but some their members survived.
Said members dedicated their life to freeing their master but the Tamaraneans were not idiots, they erased the location or more accuretly the direction of which the prison was send towards and fabricated a story about a seal keeping the Necrostar within Tamaran.
The surviving members beleived that fabricated myth and indoctrinated their children to their doctrine, and gave them the sole mission to free their master after finding said 'Seal'. The children tried and failed to free the creature and thus did what their parents had done, had children before creating a cycle that spent over Tamaranean millennials.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Xand'r was the last descendant of that surviving members. He had come to a crucial realization upon reviewing every attempt that his ancestors had made to free their master. The problem that prevented his master's resurrection was Tamaran itself.
He needed to find a place that would suit his master's resurrection. Did this make sense? No. But after everything that his ancestors had tried, this was the most logical reason for their failures. Knowing this, Xand'r began to hate Tamaran as a whole.
He seized the opportunity when he noticed that Prince Ryand'r had begun to feel insecure about his place in Tamaran due to Prince Yugo's exploit. Xand'r cultivated Prince Ryand'r's insecurity and egged him to form a deal with the Citadel as a way to form his own deal with the Citadel.
Nobody knew that Xand'r had sold out Tamaran's security to the Citadel in exchange for a way out of the Vega Star System as well as information about the Necrostar. That was how Xand'r learned that the story about the seal were fabricated lies to prevent the Necrostar from being freed.
To be clear the deal between Xand'r and the Citadel was that the latter would have the opportunity to steal the Arc Net Shield in exchange for a top-of-the-art Spaceship and location of where the Necrostar might be once the Citadelains and him take the Arc Net Shield's core back to the Citadel's homeworld.
The day of the meeting was picked by Prince Ryand'r, he had chosen a day that would allow him to be the center of attention since Prince Yugo would be absent from Tamaran. The Arc Net Shield indeed prevented invasions but that did not mean that it stopped people from leaving Tamaran.
Prince Yugo periodically left Tamaran to gather the power source necessary to fuel the core of the Arc Net Shield. He was the only one on Tamaran that knew where to find the power source and what it was.
This was because the people of Tamaran did not delve deeper into this, most trusted Prince Yugo and those, more accurately the hidden traitor, who wished to know more about the power source did not have enough authority to make him spill his secrets.
All that was known about this power source to the public was that it came from another dimension, which Prince Yugo had discovered during his various research. Normally going to replenish the power source's supplies, Prince Yugo would be escorted by his Royal Guard but this time it was different.
He had two extra companions, Princess Komand'r and Princess Koriand'r, this had been decided by both parents to further increase the relationship of the three in question to see who was more compatible with Prince Yugo.
Now some might think this was too early regardless of royal politics as Prince Yugo was only fifteen Tamaranean years old but in Earth years, he was five hundred and twenty-five years old. While they were in another dimension collecting the power source required, tragedy struck.
Prince Ryand'r had planned to convince his parents about the treaty when the Citadel's scout ship requested an audience with Tamaran but that request never happened, if he had thought about it and not completely trusted Xand'r, he would have seen how strange it was to only inform his parents about the treaty mere moments after their envoys requested an audience.
While he was waiting for the request to be received, the Arc Net Shield was deactivated, and shortly after that, before anyone had the chance to react, the Citadel launched a wide-scale attack on Tamaran.
They bombarded the planet killing millions and reshaping the planet and its flora. They primarily targeted the major cities of Tamaran, which led to the death of both royal couples and Prince Ryand'r, unbeknownst to all Tamaraneans, Xand'r had boarded a Citadel Ship with the core of the Arc Net Shield after personally killing Prince Ryand'r and his parents.
The Citadel, after that wide-scale attack, left Tamaran with one final ultimatum, they would surrender their remaining prince to the Citadel when the Citadel returned or they would face extinction.
Were it not for his self-proclaimed sacred task, Xand'r would have loved to stay and watch as Tamaran burned to the ground but once he handed the core of the Arc Net Shield to the citadel and received his payment, he left the Vega Star system in his quest to reawakened his master.
This action extended his life because when Prince Yugo, his Royal Guards, and both Princess of Tamaran returned to Tamaran, they were greeted by the tragic news. Both Princesses and the Royal Guards shared the same sentiment as the rest of Tamaran.
"We must fight back and eliminate the Citadel once and for all!"
A general said as he slammed his fist on the large circular table that was present in the war room. A war council had been formed as soon as Prince Yugo, his Royal Guard, and the two princesses had returned. They had only been given a few minutes to prepare before they attended the War Council.
"He is right!"
"The Citadel has gone too far, too many times and they must die!"
"We can no longer stay on the defensive!"
"We must go to war."
Everyone in the war council wanted to kill the Citadelians but Prince Yugo was against it.
"No, we will not go to war with the Citadel."
They would have called him a coward were it not for the chilling gaze that was engraved on his face. He looked at the war generals who were still alive after the Citadel's attack as well as the princesses who participated in the war council with him.
"B-B-But my prince, we must go to war with them, we can not let their actions go unpunished. They must die so that our brethren can rest in peace."
"Kill them?"
He said in a chilling tone before adding on.
"You would show them such blissful mercy?"
His words confused the others. Prince Yugo then further clarified his intentions as he stood up.
"We will not go to war with the Citadel because what I have in mind for them is worse... far worse than that. This will be a lesson to all Citadelians as well as those who dare oppose us in the future about how we retaliate."
He looked at the General who had spoken to him before adding on.
"Remember this, generals, when suffering is owned, never accept death as payment."
Although they had no idea what he had in mind, every Tamaranean present had the certainty that the Citadel had made a colossal mistake. This would soon be revealed to be true as it would mark the beginning of the Tamaranean Empire.
