Chapter 5

"The Joker's cousin you say? Maybe if he didn't become THAT messed up after that failed bank robbery, I wouldn't be so offended by your suggestion." Diaz responded before slowly backing up towards the wall next to him.

This type of joke would seem out of context, but the Bat family understood Diaz's reply and their expressions changed momentarily from hearing his words.

"Then again, everyone in this world is faced with many choices throughout their lives. Unfortunately, for the Joker, he made the wrong choice this time around." Diaz yelled back at Damien as he saw Damien's facial expressions continue to change.

There was no telling why Diaz would be saying such things as if he was baiting the Bat family. But, it seemed as if his words were finally starting to fall on deaf ears.

"Damien, compose yourself!" Batman shouted out towards Damien as the three heroes walked closer to Diaz, leaving very little room for him to even try and escape from under their noses.

"Father, if I was alone on this mission, he would already be dead!" Damien replied to Batman with a little bit of an angry but childish tone. Batman was in fact his father, but Damien still felt rather pissed off at this point.

Smack!

Batgirl hearing Damien's words made her smack him in the back of the head. She did this not because of the fact that Damien was questioning their leader on this mission, but, because Diaz started lifting up his hands as if he was admitting defeat.

Seeing this, Batman used his radio on his earpiece to tell Nightwing to remain vigilant outside, but that they got the boss of this operation in their custody.

"You know, it will be impossible for you to capture me." Diaz called out before the three heroes could get close enough to pose danger to him.

With a sinister smile of his own, Damien could only reply to Diaz's words with some of his own. "You may not realize this now, but you are not the first thug to tell us this before they were captured and sent off."

Right when Damien finished his sentence, Diaz's smile started to turn into more of a frown as his eyes started to radiate some weird dark mist type substance. This was happening so slowly, that unless someone was looking closely at Diaz, they would not pick up on what was happening right away.

"Get back!" Batman shouted out to the team as the dark mist started pouring out of Diaz's eyes at a much faster pace. He did not know what was happening to Diaz, but Batman knew that he needed to keep both Batgirl and Damien at a safe distance as this scene played out.

"Batman? Batgirl? Damien? What is happening you guys!?!?" Nightwing called out over the radio. From what he was able to see, there were no movements within the warehouse and everything still looked completely normal.
