Chapter 626: Past Like Morning Star (Part 3)_2

In the DC world, the personification of Death is somewhat weaker, appearing somewhat elusive. However, she still possesses wisdom and is capable of communication, at least that's what the dream god has told him.

Besides, the dream god has informed Shiller that Death witnesses the demise of every individual. Thus, as long as Shiller dies, she will certainly hear what Shiller is questioning.

This sort of Concept God doesn't have any state of being too busy. They are almost omniscient, omnipotent. If they notice someone in a particularly unique state and pay attention to them, as long as they want to respond, they can definitely respond. They won't miss it because of having too many calls.

Regrettably, under these circumstances, when Shiller dies, these people will certainly send him to the best hospital, where the doctors with the most superb medical skills reside. These folks are indeed experts in fighting with the god of death. Shiller has already reduced his physiological state to the lowest, yet still, he hasn't died.

This situation continued for a long time, which led Shiller to wonder, is this genuinely because the doctors are too skillful? Or is it, just like in Marvel, there is some special power that is preventing him from entering the realm of death.

Presumably, it could be understood if he isn't accepted by Marvel's death, because Shiller first transmigrated into this body in the DC world. According to Destiny, after the transmigration, his soul went past the Origin Wall and moved to the Marvel universe. In this case, his soul's foundation might be in the DC world, and thus it would be normal if the Marvel's death doesn't accept him.

However, it's strange that even the DC world's death doesn't accept him.

Thinking about it, Shiller began to ponder over a question, which is, where did the original Shiller's soul go before he arrived?

Just as Shiller has told others, all the personalities in his Thought Palace are actually a feature of his personality, a part of his soul, and the entire Thought Palace is his soul.

Subsequently, it is impossible for the original Shiller to be disguised as a personality hiding in his Thought Palace. Just like a person's soul cannot hide inside another person's soul, a file can be inserted into a system, but a complete system cannot be inserted into another system.

So, did the soul of the original who was once a KGB Spy really dissipate?

Upon thinking about this, Shiller began to systematically search his own soul, attempting to uncover any anomalies. However, after looking around, everything in the Thought Palace was normal, and the personalities had no issues, everything was functioning systematically.

While thinking, Shiller glanced down at the large hole beneath his feet. If there was one place that could potentially be beyond his control, it would be the subconscious beneath his explicit consciousness.

Even for Shiller, it isn't possible to say that he can control 100% of his subconscious. Or rather, if the subconscious was fully controlled, it would lose its purpose of existence.

Every time he went to the Kingdom of Dreams through this hole, the black screen during the transition was not a map loading screen, but rather him passing through his subconscious. Because Shiller did not pay particular attention to his subconscious, it was complete darkness.

Thinking about this, Shiller decided to explore the secrets within his subconscious, to see if he can find clues regarding the original soul. Perhaps there are some undiscovered things that his subconscious has noticed, but his explicit consciousness has not.

Generally speaking, a person's subconscious is very dangerous, filled with chaos and disorder, a part that is not controlled by human rational thought. But Shiller does not care, firstly because he has full confidence in the power within his consciousness, and secondly because he has a large ship.

Shiller first went to the Dreamworld, summoned the Ship of the underworld and then ascended that hole, entering into that completely dark consciousness.

There was no sense of direction here, advancing only on instinct. Shiller didn't bring other personalities, he was just quietly rowing the boat alone.

There was no concept of time here. Maybe an hour passed, or perhaps hundreds of years, but eventually, amidst the infinite emptiness and darkness, Shiller found a strange thing.

It was a gray feather.

Because its color was relatively bright, in the pitch-black subconscious, it stood out like a lighthouse on the coastline. Shiller noticed it from afar, but he didn't dare to approach it recklessly.

As he got closer with the boat, Shiller found that this feather was actually floating towards him. Shiller initially thought of avoiding it, but he didn't sense any malicious intent. Then, this feather floated onto the boat, into Shiller's hand.

Upon receiving this feather, Shiller discovered that there was nothing special about it. It was just a feather, but slightly larger than a domestic goose's feather and it was gray.

This confused Shiller greatly. Even if he had found nothing, it would be better than finding something as strange as this. When did this thing enter his subconscious?

Given Shiller's control over his own conscious world, if anyone entered his consciousness, including his subconscious, he would immediately sense it. Otherwise, he wouldn't dare to leave that loophole there for so long.

Shiller went back to the archives and went through all his memories. He was certain that he hadn't noticed anything unusual.

Then he thought, if he really had to find a point in time where he had no control over his consciousness, it would be when he traversed.

And if someone was able to put something into his subconscious during his traversal, then it could only have been the soul of the original Shiller.

But why would he place a feather of all things?

Returning to his Thought Palace, Shiller felt extremely puzzled because he couldn't detect any special properties in the feather.

Finding that Death didn't respond to him and discovering this unique feather made the puzzle more complex. Shiller wasn't too disappointed, though. These were only incidental objectives. It would be a pleasant surprise if they were accomplished, and not much loss if not.

Finding that Death really had no intention of responding to him, Shiller didn't intend to maintain his feigned death. He instructed the Gray Mist to start slowly repairing his body, to divest from the near-death state.

The lights in the emergency room suddenly went out. The doctor that walked out saw Bruce and Lex. Before either of them could ask, the doctor said, "The patient is out of danger now. They're being transferred to the general ward. They can wake up anytime now."

Shiller, now slowly waking up in the general ward, saw not Bruce or Constantine first, but another blond man.

Shiller didn't recognize this man, but he was incredibly handsome, with dazzling blonde hair. As he walked into the room and spotted Shiller, before Shiller could ask who he was, he spoke.

"Shiller, what's going on with you? Your phone is not reachable. I sent a demon and a hunting dog to find you, but they didn't come back."

The man took one look at Shiller lying in the hospital bed and said, "Um, if you're under too much pressure, you don't have to push yourself that hard. You even put yourself in the hospital?"

Just as he was about to keep talking, Shiller held up a hand to stop him and asked, "Stop, I have a question. Who are you?"

The man wore a surprised expression, then looked at his reflection in the window and asked, "Hold on, was I male or female last time you saw me?"

As he said this, he shape-shifted into a beautiful blonde woman. She ran her fingers through her hair and said, "You should recognize me now. Your human race is quite troublesome. If I don't look exactly the same each time, you all don't recognize me."

"Still don't recognize me? Could it be that I was using this male form before?" And with that, she changed back.

Shiller was somewhat speechless watching her change forms and said, "This has nothing to do with appearance. Has anyone told you that I have lost my memory?"

The blonde man asked, "…When did this happen?"

"Just now."

The man was stunned for a moment before saying,

"My name is Lucifer, Lucifer Morningstar. Remember now?"

Before Shiller could answer, the door to the hospital room was suddenly pushed open. A weary-looking Constantine walked in and said, "Shiller, I've avenged you, you…"

Then, he locked eyes with Lucifer who was standing in the middle of the room.
